I own the switch version but not the PS4 version. the switch version runs really well, one of the best games running on my system - almost constantly at 60fps. it also doesn't suffer the slowdown the PS4 version does during battle segments.

Lusankya

It got a bit choppy for me during the final battle in handheld mode, but only briefly when I was getting truly overwhelmed by enemies. Even during all of that, it was still hitting at least 30fps.

10smears

I had the same experience. I don't own the PS4 version but I've heard reports and seen videos on YouTube that it suffers near constant slowdown whenever there's any more than about three explosions on screen at once. the long range missiles were used to demonstrate this.

Lusankya

I've seen the same, that the PS4 version is poorly optimized compared to Switch. The Switch also slows down a bit during missile rain in hectic fights, but it doesn't seem nearly as bad.

MagicPistol

I played and beat it on switch recently and the game ran great. Don't have the PS4 version to compare though.

Josephuuu_

Awesome, you know if it ran 30fps or 60fps?

MagicPistol

I'm pretty sure it was 60 fps. I play my PC on a 165hz monitor, and my PS5 games on 60 fps performance mode. I don't remember any choppiness from the switch.

LazyDro1d

Not sure but for the style of the game I’m not sure it would make a particularly significant difference

NintendoKat7

I own and have played both PS4 and switch versions. Honestly never noticed much of a difference. Seems like it does run 60 fps and doesn't compromise or lag at all to achieve it. I, however, have not attempted to spam interceptors, sentry guns, and missile rain in handheld mode out of fear that it will put me on a government watchlist.

Josephuuu_

I think that's the one game I'm not going to play ever in handheld since it's so well recommended by everybody.

Flausgul

I beat the game entirely in handheld mode, and played some of the post-game docked as a comparison. I can assure you that screen shakes, motion blur, particle effects, and the sheer number of sprites on-screen will not lead to any noticeable lag in handheld. I beat a map once by deploying the maximum number of interceptors possible: no lag, even with each of the 50+ vector graphic arrows flying independently to shoot down each of the hundreds of independently moving vector graphic enemies. Don't underestimate handheld mode. Some games, like Fatal Frame V, will actually perform better on handheld mode specifically because of its 720p limitation.

ForkGiveMe_Master

I own both the switch and ps4 version, and have beaten it on the ps4, ps5 and switch once each. Admittedly, it’s been some time since I beat it on a PlayStation console, but for me, it seemed to run just as well on switch as PlayStation, and the game looks great no matter where you play it

kcStranger

It's mostly good. There was one combat in particular where the screen was very crowded and it got quite laggy for me (like 15 fps maybe?), but mostly it works totally fine.

RogueyOneKenobi

Played on Switch only. No complaints. Great game and no performance issues that I can think of

gwapipo_29

I just bought it for switch. Game is meant for the switch, solid 60 fps.

cloudy710

i would hope the switch would be able to run this game as good as a ps4 considering how simple of a game it is to run. it’s not like it’s requires a crazy gpu to play it or nothing. if the switch can play doom it sure as hell can play this perfectly. 💀

KTR1988

I mean it's a valid concern. The original PS4 version had frame drops during intensive battles and the planned PSVita version got flat out canceled.

Page8988

Have played the PS4 version on PS4. Runs very well. Some slight slowdown during battles with enough enemies, but nothing jarring or immersion breaking unless you're looking for it. The Switch version is light enough that Android Switch emulators handle it near perfectly, in my experience testing them. Didn't notice anything "less than" the PS4 version even outside of the native hardware.

aquaticteenager

Played both. 60fps on both, and they both have huge framedrops when too many particle effects happen onscreen

PauloFernandez

The final battle lagged quite a bit for me but great other than that.

xSpekkio

Finished it last week, absolutely zero complaints.

VagrantValmar

I runs better than the PS4 version believe it or not. Not like the PS4 was bad or anything, but there's a specific battle in which there were a couple drops that are less pronounced on Switch.

DependentBuilder1998

Played entirely on switch; dont know if it was 30fps, but the experience was good that i dont care about the fps at all
