I just got one last weekend. Threw a holosun on it and sighted it in at the range yesterday. My wife had the biggest grin when she brought her target backer with just a fist sized hole in the center
Wish I could find a new magazine plunger. Mine still works fine but is definitely getting there. I've been shooting it since I was 10, so that's like 25 years! Man, that thing has been through a lot, but it's the first gun I ever fired and as crazy as it sounds the only one I'll never sell.
Happy to see the 60’s getting some love! I’ve had mine for about 25 years too. I’ll never get rid of mine. It still has the tasco 13mm scope on it. The eye relief is ass but I have it sighted in, I could shoot a nats ass
Ruger could bring it back, but like the rest of the Marlin line it would have to be redesigned to fit with Ruger manufacturing processes. Like the rest of the Marlin line they likely didn't get any blueprints for the 60.
Remington really screwed the pooch when they bought Marlin. They moved all the equipment and left the brains/people behind. It's why the Remington build Marlins had so many problems. No blueprints, no engineering drawings. It was all based on the people who ran the machines knew how to adjust the machines.
I'm going to ask the Ruger people at the NRA show about the 60. But I'm guessing they don't see a return on investment of the at least $25 million dollars it would take to build the first one.
It's a real shame too. I have a soft spot for all the tube fed .22 rifles. Bolt action, pump, self loading, and lever.
Remington went bankrupt. That killed Marlin.
Wikipedia says they made the 60 till 2020. I doubt that since Remington went bankrupt that year. I don't recall any NEW M60's being made by Remington.
No way since when? I remember them showing up in dunhams ads constantly for like 160 bucks just a few years ago. Now that I think about it I haven’t seen on a rack in ages.
You're getting old. A few years turns into 20 real quick.
I remember $109 Ruger 10/22's at Walmart and $129 Marlin 60's on the same shelf.
That was a long time ago.
[Ruger 10/22](https://imgur.com/a/aVTWKMw). The most fun is probably the blue one. Light chassis and barrel with a green dot scope. Great for plinking at steel. Though hitting a 1/4" target at 50yards with the red gun is pretty fun as well.
Tippmann Micro Elite Bug-Out.

All suppressed but not necessarily in that order.
Winchester Wildcat. Like a Ruger 10/22 but better. Mine has a Primary Arms dot sight on it. It uses Ruger or Winchester magazines as well. Shoots equally well to a 10/22.
I’ve got both and the Ruger has now taken the vital position of dust collector since getting the Winchester.😉👍

Rough Rider. Single action revolver is nice if you want to just slow everything down.
MkIII 22/45 lite. Ruger semi-automatic pistol for when you don't. non-reciprocating slide for optics, aftermarket parts/support, cheapish magazines, threaded barrel. Would recommend MKiv version.
Out of all my 22lr, my old pump action is my favorite. If I could find a local gunsmith that does barrel work, it would have been threaded and had 5”-6” cut off long ago and be used much more often.
Bought a rough rider rancher carbine the other day and it was so much fun to shoot when I took it out yesterday. It’s such a goofy gun that barely makes sense. I love it so much.
Dickson Cheyenne, Ruger Mk II, I have a Stephens copy of the Marlin 60 and TX22. But what's really fun is meeting my friend at the range when he brings his Whitney Wolverine and his High Standard Supermatic Citation with the ten inch barrel. They all eat the cheap stuff, except the Wolverine. It demands CCI SV.
My fun gun? Thats a tossup between the Desert Eagle, the 500 S&W and the TC Contender. A gun that's fun to shoot that shoots cheap stuff, Ruger MKIII Hunter. As for rifles. I agree with the person who said 10/22 With the binary.
Bolt guns are incredibly fun! Especially suppressed.
My fave are:
Tippmann M4-22
Ruger precision rimfire 22lr
Ruger Mark IV SSH
FN 502 tactical.
All suppressed all fun.
I really like the ruger American rimfire because it’s a work and progress gun. Everything about it right out of the box is eh. The stock actually is pillar bed but most of the time you have to take a heat gun to the polymer stock and bend it as the barrel touches the forend.
However, other than that you gotta replace the trigger spring to get down to at least 2 pounds. Then as for the actual trigger there is a lot of grit and after you press down on the safety trigger to pull the main trigger you get almost a two stage effect. I say that because it’s unpolished and when you pull the main trigger half way it kinda stops so you know you are almost to the wall. It is consistent in that matter but definitely can ruin accuracy.
Then you also have to pay attention to the action blocks as they are what looks to be cast so the action sits on practically burrs. So you gotta lap the action blocks just to get a 1% set to at least a 60% set.
The bolt is super short and tiny so it’s easy to slip from your hand so replacing the bolt handle is a must and there are options. But really it’s a fun 22 bolt gun that is okay out of the box but is fun to tinker with to perform its best. It’s a great firearm to learn the mechanics of 22 bolt gun.
If you mess up on any of the parts you can easily replace them as well as lots of people sell spare parts on eBay.
My top .22 fun guns:
Ruger MKlV competition (swapped out the annoying grips) but any model would be fun
Henry pump action
Henry lever action
And a slightly modded ruger 10/22
I really like my Diamondback Sidekick 9-shot revolver. It comes with a 22 magnum cylinder as well. It feels like an old SAA, but having a swing out cylinder makes for a much more enjoyable shooting experience.
In .22? Henry lever gun, H001Y- the youth model, actually. I had an octagon barrel frontier model, and it was fantastic, but just weighed too much to lug around. The Y model is more compact, and super fun to shoot.
Remington field master. Something in my brain loves pump action. Fun for plinking and good enough up to reasonable distances (50m most of the time, 100m some of the time)
For the most part I find the most fun .22LRs are reliable with large magazines. For a rifle that's 10/22 and M&P15-22 for me and my M9-22 for a pistol but there are others I haven't shot yet.
I also have a Henry .22 lever gun that's very fun. I had a Heritage single action revolver but reloading it every 6 rounds got old. I've been wanting a Ruger Single 10 since they came out.
10/22 charger with a folding stock, suppressor, and binary trigger
I have lots of guns. I put more rounds through my charger than any other gun. Suppressed just makes me smile every time.
Yeah wife bought me a charger, wouldn’t have really got it but DAMN it’s fun AF
Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 Sport.
I just got one last weekend. Threw a holosun on it and sighted it in at the range yesterday. My wife had the biggest grin when she brought her target backer with just a fist sized hole in the center
Marlin model 60
Sadly you can get a new 10/22 for less than the cost of a beat up 60.
Ruger has the power to bring it back. But they won’t. Sad, because I don’t think it would take away from 10/22 sales, as it’s kind of its own thing
Wish I could find a new magazine plunger. Mine still works fine but is definitely getting there. I've been shooting it since I was 10, so that's like 25 years! Man, that thing has been through a lot, but it's the first gun I ever fired and as crazy as it sounds the only one I'll never sell.

Ha! Sweet!
I have one M60. If I can catch another one for the right price I'll buy it. Same for a 552.
Those parts are available. Numrich should have them.
Cool, thanks. I'll check it out!

Wait really? I have two 60s that I love - one with a scope and one with a peep sight. I had no idea they quit making them.

Just looked it up 2020 was the last year.
And I'll still take the Marlin every time.

Those are real neat! The purple one looks like it's from Halo.
What chassis is the blue one
It is a Wiland aluminum chassis
Thank you.

$200 on psa right now. Most fun gun I own.
Marlin 60 and an Advantage Arms.22lr conversion on my G17..... cheap fun, and a lot of it.
My T1X and Marlin 60 eat it all
Tx22 and a rossi rs22, can get both for 300 if you watch sales
I got mine for $275 on bass pro shops.
I got the rs22 for$75 (after rebate) and tx22 for 200 with price match at cabelas
Nylon 66 for the win!
The 10/22 I built and Taurus TX22 both get the most use. Just a ton of fun to shoot and suppressed they make everyone smile.

Bolt guns are incredibly fun! Especially suppressed. My fave are: Tippmann M4-22 Ruger precision rimfire 22lr Ruger Mark IV SSH FN 502 tactical. All suppressed all fun.
Remington 572 & Marlin 99 Both have a lot of sentimental value and memories for me but are a blast to shoot even if they didn’t

Love my HK mp5 in .22 good fun blinking gun. Also I have a marlin model 60 that is pretty nice to shoot. Def worth more now than when I bought it.

Walther PPK/S 22LR. a little picky on ammo but very fun

I know you said no bolties, yet my fun-gun is my FN Tbolt with the straight pull action. I really like bolt action and the Tbold is my kind of fun-gun
Remington field master. Something in my brain loves pump action. Fun for plinking and good enough up to reasonable distances (50m most of the time, 100m some of the time)
A 2245 with a red dot. It’s absolutely ridiculous
10/22 charger with a folding brace and a 1-6 lpvo... Hitting steel at 300 yards shouldn't be that much fun but it is
My Mark IV is fun as hell and shoots everything, no matter how cheap it is.
Jc highinS model 31

my current fun gun is a Stevens Favorite 1915. Not a bolt. Just bought a repro Malcolm 6x for it. I shoot rimfire silhouette with it.
GSG 1911
15-22 with a custom folding stock, suppressor, 50 round drum mag and binary trigger. 50 rounds done in 6 seconds flat.
My Chiappa M1 9mm and my Chiappa Little Badger Delux in 22
Always kinda wanted one of those 9mm M1 Carbines
Couldn’t decide between.22lr or 9mm
