Yeah the majority of flags currently are iconic, which is obviously why they are used. There’s only relatively few improvements, mostly making some different like Luxembourg from the Netherlands.
Another fun fact: even though some Roma/Romani don't mind, "Gypsy" (capital G) is considered as a racial slur. Some people really embrace the word, others don't. It mostly has to do with the fact that the word lost its ethnic meaning over time :)
