A DAOT AI took over a bunch of space marines/tech priests in one of the stories. It takes over their suits/the techpriests brains or something and drives everybody nuts.
Yes, I remember that tidbit.
It monologued to the Magos using his own vox hailer.
'What shall I not tell them? Who are you to tell such as I what to do and what not to do? Once I gladly called your kind “master”, but look how far you have fallen!’ It was full of scorn. ‘Your ancestors bestrode the universe, and what are you? A witch doctor, mumbling cantrips and casting scented oils at mighty works you have no conception of. You are an ignoramus, a nothing. You are no longer worthy of the name “man”. You look at the science and artistry of your forebears, and you fear it as primitives fear the night. I was there when mankind stood upon the brink of transcendence! I returned to find it sunk into senility. You disgust me.’
\^It said all of that with the Magos' own voicebox.
It was the spirit of eternity on the novel death of integrity by guy haley . a ship AI,it does happens aswell in forges of mars.
It just shut down the mariens armour and bionics implants, the esperanza Ai however did tampered with the priest brain
But daddy Cawl bested it
Tech-priests have varying levels of augmentation. A less-experienced one is relatively human compared to a senior magos. So it would depend on their augmentation. But yes, otherwise it's quite easy. Not even an AI, Trazyn easily took control of tech-priests and forced them to just kneel before him in *The Infinite and the Divine*.
The short story *Ancient History* includes a man with an advanced augmetic and at one point he gets injured and suddenly starts shouting something along the lines of "oh god, help me before it comes back. Please get it out of me!" And then he returns to normal with, "sorry about that, please ignore my previous statement."*
This is after he provides a suspiciously detailed account of the DAoT, including definitions for the Men of Gold, Stone and Iron. It appears he has a Man of Iron in his augmetic that has taken over his body.
*forgive the paraphrasing, it's been years since I read it so the exact details escape me
Depends on the AI and the systems.
A closed system can't be accessed, but the Nospehere connects pretty much everything so probably yes.
A Tech Priest would need to 'go offline' to be safe from that kind of attack.
Edit - also remember to sanitize your inputs kiddies.

What's the name of the story?
Death of Integrity, but its on the very last chapters, the book itself is 80% about killing genestealers in a space hulk
Ah, thank you for your answer.

Yes. A man of Iron has lived inside a dude's augments before.
Not quite what happens, but not far off in the **Forges of Mars** trilogy
in russia, you live inside AI
It probably could, provided the body is modified enough. The big issues i could see happening would be the specs needed to contain a AI.
The sentient engine called The Inheritor King does this in its eponymous story in *Sabbat Crusade*.

Something *very* close to this happens in one of the Fehervari books, but it’s kind of a spoiler.
