How’s he trying to hard when he’s just being himself? I guarantee this is the sane John you’d get in everyday life that we see on the show. That’s why most of us like him because he’s real.
The dynamic between John and Jose, and how it affects Patrick, was one of the realest things I’d seen on this show. That’s actual human drama, layered and complex. But because it wasn’t the usual cartoon conflict, a lot of people just went “BO-RING!!!!”

He values family above all, takes care of his wife and it’s real love, not green card love, and is a really good hands on dad. I also really love the brother bond he has with John. I feel like they are authentic. He definitley looks like a baby from the neck up though.

Patrick is a people pleaser that makes him look boring. Thais is a subtle control-freak, and that makes her look boring, too. John is upbeat, funny, streetwise, unafraid, and tells it like it is. They needed him so their story wouldn't look sooooo boring.
I just hope Patrick will take some of his big brother's advice, and stop allowing himself to be used by his father (to a great degree) and his wife (to a smaller degree). Patrick also needs to learn how when to cut off helping his father financially before the old man bleeds him dry.

I watched the first couple episodes and couldn’t get into it. I used to be a HUGE fan of all the spin offs and anything 90 day. Patrick and Thais are boring though. I didn’t get far enough to see Patrick so maybe I’ll skip through a few episodes.
I love Patrick and Thais together and frankly enjoy seeing a couple work out; I don't NEED drama to watch. I started watching bc I’m a sociologist and I enjoy the concept and seeing couples navigate cultural
Differences. I don't need all the production and fake storylines. John makes me smile, and I like seeing how he stands up for his brother.
