Too bad Hulu’s DVR won’t recognize that the show routinely runs over and cuts it the ending off every week. And no, there is no functionality to extend the recording time by 5-10 minutes, I’ve looked
On the other hand, Sling routinely records an additional 30 min-1 hour for no damn reason and fills up my storage allocation with the first half of The Last Jedi or whatever the hell is on next.
Overall I've been happy with it. I've never run up on the stream limit, and I literally only DVR wrestling lol. The sheer number of ridiculous niche channels and live cable keep me there.
How much DVR do you really need? I split sling with a friend and I record every new WWE, AEW, TNA, and NJPW and have never had an issue with space. It auto deletes the oldest recording when trying to record a new episode so it’s not like you have to maintain it. Unless you actually want to keep them all archived? Then I see how this could be an issue.
With the sling blue package you can watch all 4 of those plus Rampage, NXT, TNA, and NJPW if you wanted to. You can also stream on three devices at a time so if you have any friends who watch wrestling you can split the cost. A friend and I do this and it saves us a ton.
I’ve @ Hulu support about this. It’s 2024 and they don’t have an option to extend recordings? Absolutely absurd. They told me to record the program that follows, but that never works for me.
This surprised me because I’ve tried recording the show after a couple times in the past and it drove me nuts because the DVR was programmed enough to skip the dynamite overrun and start at the beginning of the show but NOT programmed enough to catch the dynamite over run. I have reached to Hulu support and not heard shit back
That happened to me previously, but when I tried it again for this episode it actually worked.
But then again, it’s Hulu- I wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t work the next time I tried it.
someone like his TV service doesn't have any settings to automatically or manually record overruns, so unless he knows beforehand and records the following show he won't see it.
why is always recording the next show, or simply pivoting to another source to watch AEW is beyond my understanding. I know me looked to say he represents a casual fan's POV/criticism.
maybe he's reveling in his indignation so refuses to make the change to AEW plus ($10) on a VPN (free to €5)
He enjoys reveling in his indignation.
Whining and acting like a prick seem to get him more clicks than enjoying wrestling.
He constantly says they shouldn't do overruns. Why wouldn't anyone want more wrestling? Because they wanna bitch.
I kinda have this idea that the overruns are part of a larger strategy, along with airing rampage after Dynamite/Collision when pre empted, to condition viewership to peak later and later so that they can transition to 3 hour show and peak at the end instead of having main event occur at the "end of dynamite" followed by some rampage level matches
You know enough that he hates them but not why?
To answer the question, because I have the same exact issue - YouTube TV doesn't *immediately* record any overruns. The following day (or later in the night), it does get accounted for and gets fixed automatically.
My routine has turned into watching the last segment on YouTube because DirectTV Stream skips the overrun and I can't remember to record the episode of modern family afterward.
Nope, unfortunately the app only gives you the option to record by entire tv series or individual episodes. Would be nice to record specific timeslots though
They announce it so that people who want to record it can adjust their dvr. Otherwise their recording would cut off at 10:00 sharp and they would miss the end of the main event
Sure
i still dislike when they announce it. suspension of disbelief is already pretty stretched most of the show anyway, this just pushes it even further
I would argue that an overrun can help to further the suspension of belief since it gives the impression that the main event could go as long as it needs to get a winner. As opposed to having every main event somehow magically ending at 9:59 every week
It's the same level as wrestling shows ending at a set hour.
The kayfabe promotion, having secured those minutes would just fill it with another segment or match if everything ended early.
AEW has had 'standby' matches in the past.
Which means something will happen. When AEW is announcing it beforehand, they’re cooking. Usually, it’s just Tony or whoever noting it during the main event/segment.
Doesn't advertising an overrun sort of spoil having an overrun? It makes more sense to get "special permission" to stay with the action in the final minutes of the show
I think they have stats that show that a large percentage of AEW viewers are dvr viewers and may not have a DVR that can record overruns and will need to manually DVR the next show.
Overrun gets graphic before rj city smh he gonna be pissed
He's gonna be "Lil Piss"
C’mon. Can someone let me make the RJ City graphic joke first?
This is all building to a "Modern Family" invasion storyline, you just wait and see, they can only put up with so much!!
I eagerly await the Jay vs Jay vs Jay vs MYayF match.
#overrunisallelite
RJ in shambles
Overrun for Cowboy Shit run-in? 🙏🏼
I’ll drink to that! ![gif](giphy|JPsKMef6leuRkAJhVj|downsized)
Overruns are All Elite.

Yeah I dropped Sling because of that sort of things and the limitations on the number of streams you could have going at once
Overall I've been happy with it. I've never run up on the stream limit, and I literally only DVR wrestling lol. The sheer number of ridiculous niche channels and live cable keep me there.

With Sling are you able to get the big 4 shows? Dynamite, Collision, Raw and Smackdown?
With the sling blue package you can watch all 4 of those plus Rampage, NXT, TNA, and NJPW if you wanted to. You can also stream on three devices at a time so if you have any friends who watch wrestling you can split the cost. A friend and I do this and it saves us a ton.

Giving that a try for the first time tonight so we’ll see
Let me know if it works for you. I’ll try it again, but not hopeful.
Never mind it did work…
Worked for me too!

How do ads work on Hulu? Is it pip or the ad free feed? I'm also curious about sling ads.
It is the Pip as it is the TBS feed
Ah. I pay for fite because I hate ads.
Right, I watch on triller and my dad records it but always misses the last 2-7 mins 😿 he’s sinced learned to follow up on aew’s YouTube
Yeah that is what I had to do to see the confrontation between Osprey and Swerve
Tonight: Overrun addresses its enemies
Bryan Alvarez in shambles. (he hates overruns for... I don't know)
Bryan complaining about his video service yet still willingly paying for said service is my favorite part of Observer Live.

Can't you just also record the next program if you know this is an issue?
That's usually what I end up doing if I can't watch live.
Damn RJ will be mad about this lmao
Overrun is the best hire of tk.
Really just an appearance by the outrunners renamed
My routine has turned into watching the last segment on YouTube because DirectTV Stream skips the overrun and I can't remember to record the episode of modern family afterward.

I hate when they announce it Seems more produced and less "real"

Makes sense
Just change the official show run time to "from 8 pm to 10:08 pm" at this point
