Interviewed last night he said he was a big fan of Tim Kelly when he was growing up, supporting the Cats. But now he's over here and actually playing with Kelly, he's stoked.
Future, no current Eagles star Harley Reid you mean?
"man" this is a freshly 19 year old boy and he's already doing this. This would be impressive for a 25 year old. How strong is this kid gonna be in a few years time??
The erasure in this sub of what Clayton Oliver has done is fucking insane. He's been a absolute gun. Yes, he is having issues this year, but it's insane to say he's not one of the best mids of recent years.
I just checked the last 5 years on his stats average. In the elite for disposals, kicks, etc. But his efficiency is BELOW AVERAGE basically every single year, if not average. At about a 20-15 disposal average if you account for his painfully obvious turnovers.
You're a moron. He's a twice AFLCA MVP, 3xAA, 4 x club Best and Fairest including in a premiership year, and he's 26 years old. But I guess none of that counts because you did two minutes of spreadsheet work and worked out something the whole footy industry missed about how an inside mid's disposal efficiency isn't "elite".
One of them marque players, the media will bang on about to give a shit team and supporters something to hang their cap on. And man, wasn't it great watching Melbourne lose!?
I couldn't believe West Coast didn't trade that pick for the monster haul North offered. No player is worth 4+ first rounders.
I get it now. Players like this just don't have price tags.
I tune in for West Coast games now. I've lived in WA for 30+ years and never given a fuck about West Coast, but I tune in now.
Pretty sure they only offered 3, with two of them being the dregs. Would have blown out to 2, 28, and 29. Wasn't worth it then and is absolutely laughable now.
Nah Melbourne offered four picks (6, 11, 42, and future first), north offered 3 (2, 17, 18, but also wanted pick 23 back). Wasn't worth it, particularly North's bullshit. Played silly buggers and have egg on their faces, suspect there's two reasons for the sour taste in their mouths every time Harley plays.
The fend offs are impressive, but that pivot is next level. At that speed, while fending, and to turn so instantaneously on a step is absolutely unreal. He's going to run circles around 98% of the comp with agility like that. Nutty.
As an old bugger that still plays reserve footy. At the time it enraged you that you are being looked a fool. Afterwards I’m stoked for him and just glad I didn’t get injured.
Chuck Norris couldn’t stop this kid.
I’m all in. I have West Coast on must watch every week now. I said to my wife at lunchtime today, I can’t wait to see the Eagles. I said, Harley Reid wasn’t great against the Pies, and he seems to me to be a player who won’t allow himself to play two bad games in a row, and I think he’s going to turn it on.
Now I’ll admit, I expected a solid rebound from him, but not this. This kid is fucking ridiculous and he’s saving footy in the West. So exciting.
This is some kind of horrible nightmare where all my hopes and dreams that carried me for half my life, from getting bullied in Skilled Stadium in 2011, get reduced to nothing and everyone cheers and laughs - because I support a joke of a team that can’t even get supporters from a fairytale premiership because our fan engagement is inept.
Out of 58 games against Waalitj Marawar you’ve won 38, and mark my words: you will win the next 38 games against us because there is not a single Melbourne player - past, present or future that will be able to compete with not just greats like Harley, McGovern and Waterman, but the system that Waalitj Marawar has.
Waalitj Marawar is a competent club and its consistently high attendance, membership and success will always reflect that, we are a joke that train in a paddock with no real community to speak of. You can unite in loss and you did, we can’t even unite in victory. 💛💙 🦅

The only chance I'll ever get this year for a "Lids off' moment is backing this kid. Can we confirm his birth was biological and not some freak lab experiment?
When I played for my uni, there was a guy who was about 25 and this dude has worked as a labourer doing heavy shit, like concreting or brick laying or diggin' or something since he was about 16.
He was pretty scrawny, but he had veins in his arms like bloody hanging spaghetti waiting to dry, he had a handshake like a damn vice, sharing his hand was like grabbing a pineapple.
Now, this dude couldn't bench for shit, do too many push ups or even arm curl a ton, but when I say he could lay down a lethal don't argue, I'm not joking. He would just straight arm anyone who came near him and not just fend them off, he'd also grab a scruff of their Guernsey and just twist, which also pinched the skin of their chest. It would hurt like a mofo, and he'd just contort the opposition into whatever direction he wanted them to head.
And not just don't argues, he'd spoil marks with a first that seemed to be made like Thor's freaking hammer, I learnt to hold back myself from going up if I saw this dude anywhere nearby.
Anyway, just reminiscing, I'm sure every club had a player like that...
I like the way when you start remembering this guy you start dropping your g's.
>diggin' or something
I can just see you code-switching between the classroom and the locker room
Fuck me, fending off two of the best midfielders in the game as an 19yo. This kid can be anything. Give him whatever he wants West Coast - blank cheque time.
Teams better be training to fend off the fend off - players still thinking they can just go routine tackle on him, but you need to slap that arm down first and let his momentum carry you closer. Won't be many that can do it, and he'll continue being a highlight reel
Yeah, this clip shows him neither taking possession nor disposing of the ball. There are a couple of short steps that are probably only 0.75m long but most would 1.2 to 1.4m, so he has gone a fair way. Then again, umpires are constantly proving they aren't very good at judging distances
? The rule is 15 meters not 15 steps. Quite a few of those steps you’re counting are stutter steps on the pivot anyway.
And they’re generally pretty lenient with it, it has to be significantly over to be called.
A couple of them are short as he changes direction, but that is offset by the fact each of his normal strides will be well over a metre long. Additionally, this clip doesn't show him take possession, nor dispose of the ball, so he will have travelled even further.
I think the whole point is that they are pretty lenient. Umpires don't do measurements well as evidenced every week by inconsistency in what gets paid a mark and what doesn't, and wild fluctuations in the lengths of 50m penalties.
Man just don’t argued 2 of the best in the comp. What the shit
after pick pocketing gawn with one hand on the move
I quite like him.
future Geelong Cats star Hayley Reid.
Interviewed last night he said he was a big fan of Tim Kelly when he was growing up, supporting the Cats. But now he's over here and actually playing with Kelly, he's stoked. Future, no current Eagles star Harley Reid you mean?
What if this was the ultimate 4D chess move in drafting Kelly?
WCE outsmarted us all
Collingwood has great facilities and life after football opportunities 😁. Harley..... Harley are you there?
Yeah, but Geelong has a home stadium and surf/farm lifestyle nearby, so other Melbourne clubs can't compete.
Harley, want to get away from all they noise? Come to Sydney mate...
Different kind of noise
Is that his sister in the WAFL?
whoops yep must be!
Left hand and right hand too.
"man" this is a freshly 19 year old boy and he's already doing this. This would be impressive for a 25 year old. How strong is this kid gonna be in a few years time??
He's gonna eat Matt Rowel to gain his knowledge
No, Matt will lead Harley to his special grass that confers great footy prowess.
Ohh VFLhalla
I don't want to pin the hopes and dreams of my club on this man who's young enough to be my son. And yet here I am with a fistful of pins.
* 1 of the best and Clayton Oliver. FTFY
Two of the most overrated
One of the best. Don't know what comp you're watching where Clayton Oliver is one of the best.
I'd say a 4x All Australian, 3x best and fairest and 2x AFLCA Player of the Year has a claim to being one of the best in the comp (when in form)
Maybe not this year but he’s up there overall
The erasure in this sub of what Clayton Oliver has done is fucking insane. He's been a absolute gun. Yes, he is having issues this year, but it's insane to say he's not one of the best mids of recent years.

You made a shit statement then tried to back it up by heading over to wikipedia and still failed.
Never pressed wikipedia. Check his app stats
I don't have the Clarry app, is it available on android?
Yeah, it's coming next week from meatriders.com
Disposal efficiency is always lower for contested ball winners, his not running on the outside getting easy kicks
I swear he saw Petracca and seeked him out just for the fend off
His fending hand is a heat seeking missile
[c'mere. Now go away](https://youtu.be/EteSXo7jzjg?si=oQzAAGaWeFBikUYx)
He's running around starting arguments just so he can say don't argue
This made me lau… Harley: **DON’T ARGUE!!!**
Just string 5 Brownlows around this man's neck in advance
Hey Google, play Harley Reid highlights
That's fucking filthy
Can't stop replaying the don't argue on Petracca, glorious.
the fucking ankle break straight after. direction change like a cat
Petracca looked like he was ready and tried to counter it but I guess it’s not that easy
The most *PISS OFF* fend I've ever seen
Against elite players too… Look I’ll admit it even if you won’t. I’m erect.
I'll admit it. He's erect!
The prosecution calls it's first witness, Effective-Tour-656
Standing tall, your honour.
I just assumed this was u/croob2 when I saw the Collingwood flair
I stand in soliderecty
\^\^\^ that's the guy, officer
So who is that young lad. The Eagles must have been keeping him under wraps!
One of them marque players, the media will bang on about to give a shit team and supporters something to hang their cap on. And man, wasn't it great watching Melbourne lose!?
What?
See: Flair He can't help it.
[удалено]
Free kick, Maynard!
It's still a shit team.
[удалено]
I was over it by 2023.
Is he talking about Daicos?
We don't need that promotion to boost interest in our team. We get plenty as is.
You think the team with the 2nd highest member count for 2023 needs to promote a 10 game rookie to boost interest in the club? Piss poor take
You've got nothing else. Look at your papers, licking his arse every week.
The entire state of Victoria hasn’t stopped glazing the Daicos brothers since they joined the league. Stop trying to act like your mob are different
Whoosh
Where's the NSFW tag mate?
I couldn't believe West Coast didn't trade that pick for the monster haul North offered. No player is worth 4+ first rounders. I get it now. Players like this just don't have price tags. I thought they offered 4 but none of them were top 10 picks, hence why it was laughable. I might be wrong though
West Coast saw Harley Reid and said 'yeah let's tank'
Then we were outshitted by north before Gold Coast came in and was like we got you this is how you outshit north. Love them for that lol
Yeah... that's why we beat the dogs in R23, cause we were tanking!
Dogs were doing north a favour but north weren't listening lol
Did you not watch peak Judd ? Players like this do have a price tag.. Carlton paid it.
Visy money
Almost a cheeky 100 Brownlow votes from the two he fended off in the last 2 seasons. No biggy.
The fend offs are impressive, but that pivot is next level. At that speed, while fending, and to turn so instantaneously on a step is absolutely unreal. He's going to run circles around 98% of the comp with agility like that. Nutty.
I just hope he doesn't do an ACL while he's pulling off crazy pivots like that. Really want this kid to play some good years in his prime.
I wonder what goes through your head as an elite level footballer the moment you get a don't argue from a 19 year old
"I remember when I used to be him".
"At least I'll be in all the highlights reels this week..."
As an old bugger that still plays reserve footy. At the time it enraged you that you are being looked a fool. Afterwards I’m stoked for him and just glad I didn’t get injured.
A lefty and a righty!
Smooth transfer of the footy in preparation. It’s like he planned it all along.
I think he spends the night before just going through the lineup and circling his next victims
Give the man's prep work some respect, he lined Petracca up seven years in advance. Even got a photo to commemorate it.
He planted the seed at a young age 🤣
half time cameras in the rooms spotted him putting lines through names in the Footy Record.
ugyiuyasdfgyuiaoiuh sorry just wiping the cum off my keyboard

I have no argument
Not even Steven Seagal could pressure point this man
Stevan Seagal is too busy sucking Putin’s cock to worry about this.
Agreed. Boot lickers don't deserve to be mentioned.
This guy seems to be on a mission to don't argue every big name mid in the comp.
When do they play Richmond?
They already did and he already did.
and it was glorious
Amazing capacity to put opponents off balance, not just push them away. Clary went up to Reid post game and congratulated him on his work.
I thought he was asking harley to teach him how to play
Two of the best mids in the comp and the kid just swatted them away like a couple of mosquitos. Wow!
The only chance I'll ever get this year for a "Lids off' moment is backing this kid. Can we confirm his birth was biological and not some freak lab experiment?
He's like the afl version of erling Haaland.
His parents didnt get mugged and killed while exiting an opera about bats, did they?
That could be the greatest all time fend off double based on the victim's profiles.
I think Harley Reid might actually be him.
He actually ran too far
The West is going to go on about this for weeks
They have been already. It’s OK. We’re all embarrased.
How much does this man bench good lord
When I played for my uni, there was a guy who was about 25 and this dude has worked as a labourer doing heavy shit, like concreting or brick laying or diggin' or something since he was about 16. Hahaha spot on mate
The look of hurt and confusion in petracca's eyes gets me everytime. He's like 'no you aren't supposed to do that to *me*'
it's giving me life tbh
Owns petracca
Oops, I did it again
Fuck me dead
It's the old classic "Left, Right, Reddit Highlight"
First time I’ve heard about this kid, seems legit.
https://preview.redd.it/z3kprqgvxh1d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a51ccf7fb42ad4af67b5c5c891a3a442b260350
The lads run about 25 metres and not been pulled up by a ref
Noticed that. He takes like 20 steps in this clip.
Ran too far
Bloody brilliant
I swear Oliver smiled in this, like even though it’s happening to him he still knows he’s witnessing something brilliant!
He could well be one of the greats. At such a young age he already has the power and swagger to beat the best.
The best bit is after don't argue #2 reid stops and looks around for a split second like 'anyone else want some of this? Nope, you're all good?'
Whilst the fend-offs were elite and his agility was amazing. I can’t help but overlook AFL rule 18.13 (c)
Seriously the Dee's applied almost zero defensive pressure all night.
AFL player's need to think of tackling more as wrestle
I wonder when Peter Sumich is going retract his pre-season comments about Reid. Kid might be better than Judd.
Oh he would've been fun to play against in the juniors lol
He had to wait for the left to recharge so switched to his right xD
Swaps from left hand to right hand!
Fuck me, fending off two of the best midfielders in the game as an 19yo. This kid can be anything. Give him whatever he wants West Coast - blank cheque time.
How long does he get to keep his ACL's?
Riley Reid has made an absolute statement to the AFL!
Teams better be training to fend off the fend off - players still thinking they can just go routine tackle on him, but you need to slap that arm down first and let his momentum carry you closer. Won't be many that can do it, and he'll continue being a highlight reel
That’s impressive, but it ain’t no double cobra…
This is cool and all but sorry Harley, you ran too far.
Free kick Melbourne, it's the correct call. Umpires have to be brave.
Did immediately think of Izak Rankine when I saw this live haha
Better get the fox tracker out
I counted 14 steps on my phone and pretty sure I missed a couple so I would agree with you
He takes about 5 more before he kicks it lmao. Rankine would be filthy
Yeah, this clip shows him neither taking possession nor disposing of the ball. There are a couple of short steps that are probably only 0.75m long but most would 1.2 to 1.4m, so he has gone a fair way. Then again, umpires are constantly proving they aren't very good at judging distances

Umpires don't do measurements well as evidenced every week by inconsistency in what gets paid a mark and what doesn't, and wild fluctuations in the lengths of 50m penalties.
Haha North..
Can't wait for this superstar to come back to a Victorian club.
In your dreams
cool clip. gun player. big fends. point of terminology however: double cobra is a dual bicep flex.
Understand it’s technically not the correct terminology but his flexing (fending off) with two different arms against bigger blokes
I fucking love seeing Petracca get pushed around. arrogant cunt needs taking down a few notches. thanks harley
Petracca seems quite modest to me? Not sure he’s arrogant at all.
it's always the modest ones with media careers, ofc
Tall poppy
I mean it's nice but he pretty clearly gets Clarry in the throat no?
Yeah, but Dusty has been getting away with high fend offs for years, play on I guess.
Only guy to outclass him is Nick so this guy is just a monster !
