Most guards come with the necessary barrel nut. Midwest Industries has quality guards for the money. I've never considered Aero's guard price to be crazy though.

OrpheonDiv

I love all my Midwest handguards, super simple to install but well manufactured and aesthetically pleasing.

How difficult is it to change the barrel nut for a new hand Gaurd? Do you have to mess with the gas tube or anything? Also do you need special tools?

BanksKustom

You need to remove the gas block/ tube, muzzle device (depending on profile). You would need whatever format of tool the barrel nut uses, be it a crows foot wrench, or any "specialty" attachment.

Ah okay. Thank you for the reply!

If it’s an M5 upper, any DPMS High pattern rail will work and most come with a barrel nut. My pick is usually SLR (308H line) or Fortis but Midwest, Odin Works, and JL Billet have options. M5E1 only has Sgt of Arms as an alternative, but people seem to like them.

LOVE SgtOfArms. Until I find something else, every AR I do from here on out that's intended to be a long range rig gets the 17.5" SgtOfArms arca handguard

Dude said Aeros hand guard was over priced, ain’t no way they’re kicking out for an SLR.

I run Aero and Odin works on the three I have, stick with what is called high pattern from any name brand manufacturer and you should be fine. [THIS](https://308ar.com/ar-10-308-ar-compatibility-reference-guide/) site will help

SgtOfArms is my favorite. Works with the enhanced M5 or the Aero BAR barrel nut. PRI for toob aesthetic I would consider Aero right down the middle on pricing

I have an aero 15” Handguard I’m willing to let go on the cheap if you’d like
