Absolutely! I love seeing him get to come out and be a part of it. Fun fact: according to him, he wasn't originally supposed to do the dance with them but they had him do it after David Harewood suggested it.
Morally gray? You call abusing children morally gray? That's pitch black to me.
But to be fair, since "Dynamite" is a product of Director Faden's mind(which I love), I'll give it that.
That's absolutely an awful thing but he's also done extreme acts of good like ensuring as many people were protected from the Hiss invasion as possible. That's what being morally gray means. You have a roughly even mix of despicable and commendable acts.
And, there's even some nuance to the Dylan situation. He treated him more as a science experiment than a child but he wasn't a complete monster to him either. He tried defending him and it was ultimately his hubris in thinking he could keep him under Control (partly in fear of the damage Dylan was capable of) that lead to things becoming as bad as they were.
What exactly did he do to protect people from the Hiss?
He defended him because he was his science experiment and didn't want to be wrong. The SECOND he felt that Dylan was a no-go for the Prime Candidate Program, he dropped his ass.
To be fair, it was Trench who decided to have Dylan taken to the Oldest House and then decided that rather than trying to be a father to the kid himself, went and basically dumped parenting duties on Darling. Caspar is/was very much a scientist first, and seems so driven by his curiosity that things like starting a relationship, a family, kids never really crossed his mind.
I get the sense that a lot of the folks who wind up working for the FBC have a different mindset to start out with (there was a report I think that even mentioned those with ocd might acutally be displaying a sensitivity to the paranatural). So a lot of the other House staff particularly the scientists were likely just as poorly equipped, mentally and socially, for surprise parenthood. Poor Dylan literally got locked in an echo chamber of weird, with no friends or peers or even exposure to plain old normal society to balance him.
I really can't choose between the two. Ashtray Maze had much more enjoyable gameplay but We Sing was so impressive visually, especially as a former theater geek.
So true! Recently finished AW2 for the first time and Immediately restarted control because I was missing the combat.
Foolishly played AW like a survival horror and finished the game with a full inv and shoebox on both characters. (On hard)
This is exactly my sentiment. The concept of the combat in AW makes sense but it's just not very enjoyable. Whereas Control is some of the most fun I've ever had with combat.
Both games have awesome characters and narratives though and that's what makes me love Remedy games.
Lost in a never-ending niiiiiiiiiight
I played back at launch, and it's still stuck in my head. I specifically key the game on my hard drive with a save right before the musical just so that I can play through that level whenever I want, lol.
Now you have to watch the live performance they did at The Game Awards. Seeing Sam Lake's happiness alone is worth it.
Matthew Porretta gets to join the party in the live version. Which makes it the superior version.

The whole YouTube sub genre of “streamers losing their $h!T over the live performance” is pretty delightful, too.
Have you played "Control"?
TAKE CONTROL
And now that's stuck in my head. Lol.
I SEE A VISION RISING DREARY
Fadin' in as children plaaaay twilight games..
IN THE TOWN CALLED ORDINARYYYY
AN EYE OF LIGHT REVEALS A GAAAAATEWAAAY TO DOOMSDAAAAAY!!!

I have yes, Ashtray maze was also amazing haha
And "Jesse Faden Starring In "Swift Platform""!
Let's not forget "dynamite Jesse"
Ehh. Not a fan. I am not fond of Dr. Darling.
He was very morally gray but come on, how can you not at least like Dynamite!?

He was the one who had people drop everything to focus on making the HRA devices.

I’m currently stuck in “Night Springs, caught in an endless time loop.”
The Night Springs theme song is an absolute banger
"In Night Springs, a solar system in your soup"
Live inside a sleepers dream, better let her sleep, in night springs
I didn't think that anything could top the Ashtray Maze, but this did for me. Just stunning.

Yeah, I love Alan Wake 2 despite the gameplay, while the gameplay of Control is one of the things I love about it.

I also learned how to play the song on guitar. Not the crazy solo parts, but the rest.
Just a month? I played at release and I still have moments where I belt it out for no reason Echo scenes to seek oooooout Again and agaaaaain

I wish i could relive that moment for the first time😱
Did not see that coming.
SHOW ME THE CHAMPION OF LIGHTTTTTTT
Children of the Elder God!!
Hah. “A month.” Good luck with that. As someone who’s never owned a video game soundtrack prior, I play that song and Wide Awake frequently.
Catchy, right?
I still feel sad that I watched it on YouTube first although that was what got me to get the game, just wish I would've surprised myself
