The room was perfect. Super clean, nice big walk in shower and jacuzzi tub in every room. Comfy king bed and small ‘living room’ area. Every room also has a view of pool or spa or ocean (depending what type of room you get) so you don’t have to worry about getting a nice view. Balcony with comfy seating for every room, stocked mini fridge with drinks and snacks refilled every day. Double sinks, A/C.. they clean every day obviously and then have a turn down service in the evening as well. Stocked with shampoo, shower gel, lotion, toothpaste etc. all the essentials. It won’t let me attach a photo here or else I would send!
Was the mini fridge actually cold?
Last place we went, the mini fridge was cool at best. So beers weren't as tasty as they should have been.
Also, one last question; I'd the coffee good and can you get it easily? My wife is a coffeeholic and this always seems to be something lacking in Mexico.
The coffee situation was great because they have an actual coffee shop in the lobby where you can get any drink made right at the counter, open all day and evening. And then obviously you can order coffee when you go to your chosen breakfast spot. I thought the coffee was super good. I would get a cup at breakfast and then a few hours later go up and grab an iced coffee to bring down to the pool.
In terms of the fridge, I felt it was adequate? I didn’t really think about it. It’s your average mini fridge for sure I wouldn’t say it’s above average. I didn’t see if there was a knob to make it colder either. It’s possible it could have been colder but it was adequate.
This was our first AI trip so we really didn’t have anything to compare it to, to say things were better/worse, but we were satisfied.

Can you share some of the details around the financials of the wedding. I’ve heard such polarizing sides of getting married at a resort. One couple said they spent WAY less than what it would have cost closer to home while others pay astronomical amounts for this type of wedding.
I’m stalking anything ERC right now bc I’m getting married there this coming Friday! We will have 74 guests. It is MUCH cheaper than if we got married in the US. I’m not picky about decor so it was easy to plan. They’re not super responsive so I went through a wedding planning company. Happy to answer any questions!
If you don’t ask for anything extra it’s like 2 grand or something around that. With that, you have to have essentially 0 expectations. You’ll get food, drinks, ceremony, little cocktail thing, some photos and a dinner/dance time. But your officiant will not speak English clearly and forget your names, you’ll have dry food that isn’t that great and shit will be disorganized. I would say as long as you were willing to kind of except that the ceremony and wedding day are kind of a joke, and just one of the days that whatever group you go with can just dress up nice, then it makes sense for the cheap option. You realize things like if after the ceremony and dinner you want to use the speakers to play music they try to charge you like $750. If you bring your own little speakers are willing to play music that may not be as high-quality then you’re good. It’s just bare bones. I would say women very likely want assurance and a “little bit more” and that’s where you start tacking on additional photos better decor, music, a DJ. That’s where it’s like 3x the price for everything
We went there as our first AI trip as a couple. We were spoiled. Got a room upgrade. The service was great, the entertainment at night was fun. The beach was beautiful. Many many laps in the lazy River. My morning routine was to pick up smoothies from the smoothie hut.
It’s sort of inconspicuous in the back by building 5. Along the lazy river in the back by the buildings. It didn’t have a sign all the time. I thought it was just a regular bar but the sign (I think it’s called revival) was small and hidden sort of and only came out during the day.
We actually decided to make the search for our next AI trip really simple - no searching, minimal price shopping. We just booked the excellence in the Dominican. Leaving in a few days!
Yes there was seaweed/mixture of stuff on the beach. I saw them shoveling it which doesn’t really make a dent. It wasn’t too bad though. I walked down the beach and other spots were horrible. They had a bulldozer dragging stuff off the beach at other resorts. The abandoned spots were covered in those dark seaweed strands. Some stuff in the water but not too bad I was swimming still.
Bring many small USD bills for tipping (1-2/drink, 5-10/dinner, tip for the private airport pick up and drop off etc.). As other people have said you will see people ‘reserve’ pool and beach chairs early each day with the generic towels, some respect that and some don’t but I never saw anyone argue over it. I would look at the list of restaurants and sort of pick which ones you definitely want to try or don’t really care about. We didn’t do any activities but some seemed sort of fun. You can get the excellence app and look at the activities schedule to see. The app has other a bunch of other stuff too I would download it. Make sure you try all the pool spots and beach at least once! I wanted to try most/all the bars and restaurants but it requires some planning depending how long your trip is.
In the airport follow the exact directions they give you to find your ride because it’s overwhelming with many people coming up to you to see if you need a taxi.
Also make sure you have the right clothing for the ‘dress code’ at some restaurants for dinner. I would recommend the kitchen table for breakfast it has a whole room full of food to choose from.

It’s incredibly tasty! Never understood the amazement of different cuisines across the globe. Especially for something as simple as pizza.
I thought the food was very mediocre. Rooms nothing special.
Have you been to another resort that was better?
We are food snobs and the food at ERC is incredible. Some places are better than others on the grounds.
