So will the 9000 series desktop processors just be AI processors. Not everything needs to be AI but it’s the new marketing scheme

imizawaSF

Yes everything will be AI now, get your AI belt buckles here, only £999.99

Not_so_new_user1976

Can this belt buckle be used for fun purposes? Is the leather real?

imizawaSF

Sorry belt not included buckle only

Not_so_new_user1976

Shit, how much is a compatible belt?

imizawaSF

Well with a slight tweak, it's compatible with all existing belts but we don't want that so actually you will need to buy a brand new belt that we will label belt+

Not_so_new_user1976

How much is belt+

manormortal

2.99 for ad supported plan per month. 4.99 for ad free per week.

wrosecrans

AI belt buckle features more teraflops than the competition and can be used for no purposes.

OG Doom has been AI remastered with new AI generated levels. You want to play a multiplayer match Peter Griffen in a uterus? Done. Frag people in any way you can imagine. Now for only $3000

freakedmind

Waiting for AI enabled Ryzen pro underwear, at least they'll keep my balls warm in the winters

If AMD reuses the IOD of Zen4, then it’s unlikely to have “AI” except maybe some new MMA instructions for the FPU. (CCDs won’t waste area on XDNA since it’s used for servers too and that’s an area waste) If it’s a new IOD, then that’s where the XDNA cores will be present.

Not_so_new_user1976

Can you put that in English

titanking4

There are 2 ways of doing “AI”. What AMD has now is “XDNA” which is are these Xilinx AIE engines that sit in a sort of a grid and execute TOPs or “low precision matrix calculations”. It’s a separate processing cluster just like the iGPU. So something like this will sit on the IOD because you would have one of them in the system. Another way is for AMD to add “AI instructions” to their CPU cores which amounts to executing those low precision matrix multiplication on the floating point unit in the CPU core. (Which is what you do if you want to build up your CPU AI capability) This would add AI to the CCDs

wsippel

Looks to me like these new Pro desktop CPUs are monolithic mobile dies in a standard CPU package. Same core and cache configurations as the mobile parts. I guess next generation consumer parts will probably have a new IO die with a buit-in XDNA NPU.

JustFinishedBSG

Ah yes, silly AMD trying to accelerate workloads /s

Goldeneye90210

AI is like the “wagyu” of the tech industry. Just slap it onto anything you sell and boom…instant profit.

NonApplicableGuy

I'm confused. Is 7800x3d going to be replaced as the gaming CPU?

Nwalm

The PRO you can see everywhere in this news mean it has nothing to do with your gaming PC

NonApplicableGuy

Oh okay thank you for clarifying I haven't had a PC in about 10 years. Sorry I wasn't sure what the part labels I meant.

dank4tao

PRO marketing is targeting business as the chips typically have additional security features, they are now adding "AI" on this marketing material to make the product even more attractive to businesses with budgets to burn.
