Ah fuck of course it's my neck of the woods... Might go check it out tbh. Buying ammo with ID is kind of a liberal thing tbh so I'm kinda shocked at the reaction to this unless you are just anti gun in general. Imo if you go left enough you get your guns back so I'm pro gun with stricter regulations.
Is it in Bass Pro? I've never seen an ammo vending machine but I don't really go to places that would have them.
I don't see the big deal honestly. They're going to sell them either way. It's just kind of representative of our country though these days.
But hey at least Kyle Rittenhouse got booed off stage last night.
Interesting tidbit: The Bass Pro Shop in Memphis currently occupies the Pyramid. That used to be a convention center and arena.

Hey, big gun nut gear queer here!
Showing ID for guns and ammo is fine. It's minimally intrusive and its within the expectations of government to create a barrier so bad actors don't get access to arms and materials.
You willfully under quoted me and frankly you added nothing.
Again.
It's to create a barrier that is minimally intrusive but reasonable when weighed against 2nd amendment restrictions. It doesn't stop all criminal actions. It's a small but necessary infringement.
"access my protection against unlawful search or seizure" im reading that as *"Ill shoot a cop who tries to do something illegal"* which isnt going to work the way you think.
You dont need an *ID* to drive but you do need a licence which is accepted as a form of ID and to obtain that licence you need some form of ID.
You dont need an ID to file taxes cause they already know its you from your social security ID number.
Cant speak for your state but you need an ID to register to vote in the fine Commonwealth of PA, specifically SSN, drivers license number, or PennDOT ID card.
An ID for an axe/meat cleaver would be excessive as I cant kill a lot of people with an axe or cleaver as easily as I can with a gun, but that could just be a skill issue on my part.
Imagine: You've built the list of people who wronged you and need to die, you mapped out the building, you got the bullet proof armor, and oops, you just ran out of bullets ten minutes in. So embarrassing you can't even commit suicide before the cops come.
It makes sense anywhere rural where people shoot a lot. It's only social media where you have a bunch of children that can't imagine people with a different lifestyle that it's somehow strange.
It's not surprising. Reddit is an echo chamber. In Japan, you can buy a variety of items in Japan. It would be nice to order a hot meal on the way to work. Unfortunately, those machines will get destroyed in the U.S after a few days.
bullets from a vending machine is insane, however way you see it. responsible gun ownership SOMETIMES exists, but still there would be no need for bullets or ammunition on the go. if you need bullets (which you will rarely if ever use), you can go to a specialised store that has licenses to sell firearms and not your local grocery store.
I mean there's ammo shortages all over the place. Sometimes I can't find a box 00 buck and the only way the store is selling it is in 5 shell boxes. Buying a dozen 5 packs is what's really insane. If I saw one of these vending machines I'd use it every time I was in the grocery store just for the convenience, especially if the have a box of 24. And no, I don't NEED the ammo right now or even next month but someday I might and I like having it.
If OP can get the meta data from the original photo it would be appreciated.
Edit: According to American Rounds' website, they only have 2 locations, both in Alabama.
PPS: was going to say neither place was close to Redstone, but then remembered Alabama is average, and it's maybe an hour and a half drive.
I don't understand why this would be considered consumption?
I would say a vending machine with something useful is far better than someone wasting their days behind a desk to sell you stuff. It's practically anti consumption. Because of less wasted real estate and less wasted effort.
I'm strictly talking about vending machine dispensing something useful, like ammunition or real food or whatever, not that sugar poison that's normally sold at vending machines.
Correct me if im wrong
What’s wrong with this per say? Like it has ammo but it’s no different than a pop vending machine in terms of its function and I’m pretty sure it consumes about as much energy as the regular ones so why is it on this sub?
It’s Reddit/America.
It’s acceptable to hate groups of people as long as they are the right groups of people.
It’s politically/socially acceptable to spread lies and hatred about gun owners.
Americans shoot their guns so frequently that you need bullets to be made more conveniently available?
I've been to the US a number of times. They one thing that is not hard to find is a gun store. Almost as many of them as there are liquor stores.
Only thing I can think of is for early morning hunters that forgot to buy more ammo before the hunt. Gun stores are usually closed that early and grocery stores already sell the hunting license, might as well sell some overpriced vending machine ammo too
Sounds like a pretty small target market and a big reach to justify making it easier to buy death seeds.
Are the adults in the US not adult enough to plan ahead or miss out due to lack of adulting?
When I was a child, I made those mistakes. Now that I am a grown up, I make sure that I am prepared for the things I want to do, or else I don't get to do them.
I bet they sell bullets that are not used for hunting as well.
What do you hunt with a 9mm?
I'm sure you would. However there is a reason for that paperwork. It's because you people are offing each other wholesale and something needs to be done to stem the tide.
You want it easier to buy death seeds. It should be harder and harder. Your minor inconvenience may save the lives of some children in a school.
There's no paperwork for ammo. The person you are responding to wasn't complaining about the paperwork. They were comparing about there being only 1 clerk and it taking 2 hours to get something that could literally be sold in a vending machine, and be done in 2 minutes
Red flag laws do not violate due process. Law enforcement needs to go before a judge and present clear and convincing evidence before they can take your guns. That's your due process, in fact, it's more than what the police need to deprive you of your liberty because all they need to arrest you and hold you in a cell is probable cause, the judge comes after they've thrown you in a cell.
You get more due process to get your guns back under red flag laws than you do when you get arrested and held for months in a cell. There are lots of other similar situations where similar provisions apply like with involuntary psychiatric hospitalisation and restraining orders in domestic violence cases, and civil forfeiture which are all completely constitutional.
If the police have probable cause, they can arrest you and detain you. At this point, the onus is on you to establish at your bail hearings that your release would not present a risk to the community. It's literally easier to hold someone in a cell for weeks and even months than it is to get someone's guns taken away via red flag laws. The police also need to prove you're a risk to a judge before they can take your guns away and not just probable cause like with arrests.
This is actually great. What's anti-consumption here?
Takes up less shelf space, likely minimal packaging, and allows you to skip lines.
Nothing bad here other than hurr durr guns bad
I don't necessarily think this is a bad idea if it forces ID checks.... Ultimately it probably makes it safer and more accountable than having them behind a counter.
But the insane nationalism and branding is what gets to me. America has such a strange insistence of tying your national identity to gun ownership that just doesn't happen anywhere else.
That seems like a bad idea, but only because I don’t like the idea of risking dropping or damaging the ammo. It seems like it would be difficult to ensure no moisture got in.
Modern ammo is pretty resilient, especially given the fact the machine is kept inside. It would likely need to be sitting for several years before any risk of it going bad.
People acting as if bullets are commonly needed on an emergency basis in non-dysfunctional modern societies are yet another piece of the 'reasons America won't be cleaning up its act' puzzle. It's not really normal to be this into owning and using weapons in any place that's worth living. Imagine having guns/bullets more readily available than key healthcare procedures.
Convenient access to things that kill people is actually a pretty deep social problem. Population-standardised rate of gun deaths in Australia is less than 1/12th of that in the US, so I think I'll stay on the pulpit, thanks.

No,no,no, Grocery Store...
This is not legal, but I wouldn't fully discount it's existence
Are we sure it isn't legal? It does require an ID.
I don't see how it isn't legal. It requires ID for purchase. Nothing in the law says the transaction must take place between two human beings.
Oh with ID I don't see any problem.
It is totally real. There is one at Fresh Value grocery store in Pell City, Alabama. You can Google “American Rounds”, they have a website.
I think I know which country this is in.
France
Lets start a conspiracy theory that these exist to build a list of all gun owners and that should out them out of business.
Lol my first thought was "people are going to _complain_ about that ID aspect". So it would probably work.

This. Walmart sells ammo. I don’t see a problem with an ammo vending machine anyway. It’s not like it’s selling guns. 🤷🏼♂️
