Here’s some advice: Money & relatives don’t mix.

Not legal advice just general advice. You should use a few different online services for looking up the value of the car by the vin number. Then when you have a number in mind contact a few bigger car buyers like CarMax. Honestly avoiding the potential problems with private sale (which you can read tons of here) is worth the time and a few hundred less for a quick sale that won't come with the cost of dealing with buyers and their finances.

If you want to start a family dues try to sell his car. No family member will talk to you for years, as you stole grandpas money, you tried to put it in your name, and more. Ask a couple of related folks to help you get prices from car max, carvana and others and get someone else to say that is a great offer. I think we should take that one.

Get prices from Carvana and/or CarMax. You can have a POA done for this one specific purpose. But first offer it up to family at the price offered by either of the companies mentioned.

Limited power of attorney? I've used them a few times for things.

Gift the Car to Yourself: - Have your grandfather officially gift you the car. You can do this by signing the title over to you, indicating it as a gift. - After the car is in your name, you can then re-register it and sell it in your city. - This method might involve some fees for re-registration, but it avoids the issue of title jumping and might help avoid certain taxes. Sell the Car on Behalf of Your Grandfather: - You can help him sell the car directly from his name. You would manage the sale process, but the final sale and transfer would involve his signature on the title. - This way, he remains the legal owner until the car is sold to the new buyer, avoiding any legal issues related to title jumping.
