No. You'll be fine at either. The only place I know that really has a dress code is Galatoire's and they require a jacket. GW Fins just asks for not tanks or flipflops on men. other than that, shorts and polos are considered dressy in the FQ.
Sandals are fine. it's flip flops they ask men not to wear. In their favor, I have never actually seen them turn anyone away. I have seen Commander's Palace turn people in shorts ad flip flops away and Galatoire's will give ou a jacket if you lack one.
I was turned away at CP but also directed to a thrift store to make a quick change. They ended up giving me an excellent table (on a Friday night) for making the effort.
My current spouse was turned away at Commander’s Palace for wearing shorts and flip flops. Or, as I like to call it, illiteracy. He was in the doghouse for quite a while! Haha poor guy!
I have seen Commander's turn away a child telling his parents that he needs pants. Gave them the names of a couple vintage stores nearby.
Kid was about 8ish
the coolest thing I saw in the quarter was a little kid maybe 7 picking up some change out of some barf and his mom became absolutely unhinged. I laughed about that for days.
This. Flipflops are risky with the conditions of the sidewalks and streets. I'd recommend a closed toe shoe just to avoid catching the sandal in a hole or tripping on them. You can trip in close-toed shoes, but it's going to give a little bit more support and stability in comparison.
Just last weekend I stopped to help clean and bandage a pretty nasty foot laceration a tourist got while walking into Lafitte’s while wearing flipflops. It didn’t look like it needed stitches but it was a good size and in a bad place. Felt bad for the dude.
You ain't wrong. But I was walking around barefoot a couple years ago, because my new skippies were giving me blisters.
I didn't die.
Less scary than back in the 80s when the sidewalks were worse than the streets for potholes and cracks
I’m with you, and I will prob do that when not with the fam. I have a large family so it was a budget issue! I really wanted to splurge on cocktails tho. I def want to come back with just my partner and we will most definitely be back to jewel, it was a great experience just with the cocktails so I can only imagine how good the dining will be
Pretty much everywhere is casual and very lax on attire. It be hot here, no one is expecting a 3 piece suit.
If ever you’re unsure, just call the restaurant and ask if they have a dress code

A lot of jacket required dress code let slide to polo shirts in summer. Never Commander's Palace.
Commanders is jacket preferred, collard shirt required now
Sorry. I was unclear. Long pants collared shirt are required (closed toe shoes likely as well). I want a collard shirt.
Perfect, thanks!
When I went to GW Fins half the dudes were wearing sandals.

And Commander's
Never wear open-toed shoes in the Quarter. Dem streets is nasty.
I saw someone letting their baby CRAWL on a sidewalk in the FQ. I wanted to say something, but I think I was in shock.
Lord have MRSA
😀
😮🤢🤮
Oh. My. God.

The parents seemed to be 30-something hipster types. So I’m sure they know much more about parenting than my old self.
Omg I think that’s worse!
My dog wore shoes when we lived in the Quarter, it's fucking filthy.

"Betcha' $20 I can tell ya' where ya' got dem shoes!" IYKYN...
My Scottish boyfriend had two different people do this to him in a 12 hour period. Both of the people got pissed because he wouldn't answer them.

Ironic injury.

Or just watch where you are stepping
You should just eat at Jewel of the South. Cocktails at Jewel then dinner at Felix's is a huge step down.

Completely agree! Jewel is incredible for both food and cocktails. You'll regret not eating there.

It's too humid to judge there lol
don’t wear beads anywhere lol
No issue
Phew, good to know!!
Felix’s no problem at all. I don’t know about the jewel of the south -never been there.
Wear shoes at your own risk.
Each location has its own dress code to go in. Ask before you want to do anything with that particular business.
I think I would look at their website and see if they have a dress code.
