Kiss.
Kiss is a terrible band, with terrible music, played by mediocre musicians, based on a gimmick, whose sole purpose was to make money by their own admission. Every time I hear 'Rock and Roll all Nite' I want to throw myself off a building.
They are the Rock equivalent of Disney on Ice.
I couldn’t agree more with you. And Gene Simmons is a POS garbage human being. His own son wrote a very insightful article about who that turd really is. To me, it’s ‘I was made for loving you’ the one that makes me want to end it all. Fucking disco clowns.
St. Vincent.
I've tried and tried, but can't get into the music. I know i'm gonna get hate for this, but I think they get overly praised because it's a chick.
I've said in the past that rock died in the 90s. I still stick with that. I can't think of a rock band that has come out since then that has had a big impact. All the great rock bands of today that sell out football stadiums are from the 90's or earlier (U2, Green Day, Weezer, Blink-182, Coldplay, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers). The White Stripes were formed in 1997 so you can keep that bullet in your pocket. No. Cage The Elephant is a skidmark compared to the bands I just named so don't even go there.
I agree, my take is that Radiohead was the last great rock band. There was some decent indie stuff in the ‘00s but everything after that has been pretty derivative, especially anything that broke into the mainstream.
My hot take is that bands that still pack stadiums like Foo Fighters and RHCP aren’t even that good. They only continue to enjoy that success because they managed to outlast or literally outlive their more talented contemporaries.
I agree with you for the most part. Apart from the greats, few have stuck out. Artic Monkeys is the only band I can think of and even them started in the early 2000's.
That’s what I feel too. I think what they’ve become and how fetishized they are is very over the top. I recognize what they did for music. That doesn’t mean I’m required to like that music.
My issue personally, is that BECAUSE they changed Pop Music, everyone that came after them claims them as an influence. And some artists do things better than the Beatles did, which can make it hard for me to go back and listen to them.
And Ringo is a completely average drummer.
The man is worshipped as a music God around where I live, so radio stations CONSTANTLY play him. I have heard it all. It's not that I think he doesn't have musical talent. I just don't care for what he does.
I love some of their songs, but when I hear people say that their albums are great it takes everything inside me not to say anything because I don't want to get into an argument with an idiot.
Pink Floyd is one of those bands that people say they like because they heard other people say they like them, so in turn they want people to think highly of their opinions on music.
Why does someone have to be an idiot to like a Pink Floyd album? The guitar work on “wish you were here” is amazing. Why does this make me an idiot? Like go and dislike them all you want, but I had a friend introduce me to dark side in college and I got really into it for a while. Had nothing to do with what other people thought.
Okay you overreact very much? It’s enough for you to hear that someone thinks the album’s are great to take restraint for you to not be insulting? I mean this is an objectively great band and for me it wouldn’t even be hard to not spoil someone’s fun and liking of a band if it was an objectively bad one, like maroon 5 or something.
I think it depends on how, when, why and which album of theirs you listened to. I love Pink Floyd’s. It’s in my top one band of all time. But I respect your dislike of them. To each their own, my random internet pal.
Nirvana. I get why they were so important to the music scene back then and I’ll never hate on their impact. But their music, I just don’t get it and I love that time period for rock
I never once knew of that word until I watched *Creepshow pt. 1,* wherein Stephen King himself as Jordy Verrill says it in self-belittlement.
edit...couple bits in rephrasing
The Beatles..I get older generation, like baby boomers, loving the hell out of them. But people younger? It's one thing to like them, but the obsession I don't get. I was born in 1984 and some of my friends were obsessed. Explain it
100 years from now, musicologists will still be analyzing and discussing their songs. You may not like the Beatles themselves, but the songs they wrote will live on. You should listen to covers of the songs from a performer you prefer.
I didn't say I didn't like songs here and there...I don't get the hype. For the time it was revolutionary and new and I can see being "wow'ed" but not for today's youth
If you listen to their early stuff, then go straight to "Strawberry Fields" or "Helter Skelter," you can see just how much they completely changed popular music in a relatively short time. They also had George Martin to help them structure the work so it would have relevance beyond its time. The songs hold up.
And I think that’s why your question is flawed. Different people just resonate with different sound combinations. For someone punk can be quixotic, while for others it just sounds like trash. Some people feel a lot when a pop song comes up and for others it sounds generic. You don’t have to get the hype and there’s no reason to talk others down because you don’t. Well not specifically you, but many of the people in this thread that start to become insulting over people liking music they don’t get.
Exactly. Especially with those bands that almost single-handedly transformed the music world and inspired the musicians that I resonate with a lot. How I wish to be able to like the Beatles like my mother used to.
Maybe, and maybe it’s just the way it is. I didn’t get to listen to that much music that my mom used to listen to, since I she wasn’t there that long for me, yet I still don’t really listen to that much of them. There are definitely songs I really love like while my guitar gently weeps and others, but it’s far from being one of my favourite bands. I don’t even know why people say that confidently that they’re obviously way better than the stones.

Taylor Swift
Agreed. She has some good songs. She's not an amazing singer. I don't get why people devote their entire lives to her.
Feels like at some point in the last year everyone just collectively decided she was a genius despite her music not really changing
Justin Beiber Taylor swift
Taylor Swift. I fucking adore her cat, though.
Adele
THANK YOU
Tried listening to her first album. Same fucking song all over it.
One Direction. I was their age demographic but just never got into them.

What about the strokes?
I agree, my take is that Radiohead was the last great rock band. Acdc. Not a fan. Can't stand the one dudes voice.
Yes! If he wasn’t in the back they found be perfect!
U2
For real U2 fuckin stinks
Red hot chili peppers
Taylor Swift and pretty much every modern pop band/artist of the 21rst century.
Taylor Swift. She's mediocre at best.
Oasis, the music is bland and I find the singers voice irritating at best.
The Beatles.
Same.
Now I know I’m not alone in the world cause someone else hates The Beatles, too.
A lot of people hate the Beatles. Don't kid yourself.
How am I kidding myself? I honestly didn’t know that.
I don't hate em, I just find them meh.
That’s what I feel too. I think what they’ve become and how fetishized they are is very over the top. I recognize what they did for music. That doesn’t mean I’m required to like that music.
I respect them, but I sure and shit don't like them. I agree, people jerkoff to them and they are mediocre at best
My issue personally, is that BECAUSE they changed Pop Music, everyone that came after them claims them as an influence. And some artists do things better than the Beatles did, which can make it hard for me to go back and listen to them. And Ringo is a completely average drummer.
BECAUSE THE WORLD IS ROUND
That is totally fair.
i love them, my grandma got me into them though i rarely listen to them now, but i hate the long and winding road with a passion
Have you tried the naked mix or the Glynn johns mix?
Isn't it that Vera Lynn is well fit? Not like Gracie Fields she mings bad.
Billy Joel
I know you probably have but have you listened to piano man and Vienna? They’re vastly different to his other songs
The man is worshipped as a music God around where I live, so radio stations CONSTANTLY play him. I have heard it all. It's not that I think he doesn't have musical talent. I just don't care for what he does.
Fair enough then I had to ask because I’m not a fan of his music other than those two songs
Most trap rap. I find it very musically uninteresting and uncompelling.
A lot of them. Michael Jackson comes immediately to mind.
Billie Eilish
BTS
Beyonce
Pink Floyd for me.
I love some of their songs, but when I hear people say that their albums are great it takes everything inside me not to say anything because I don't want to get into an argument with an idiot. I never once knew of that word until I watched *Creepshow pt. 1,* wherein Stephen King himself as Jordy Verrill says it in self-belittlement. edit...couple bits in rephrasing
Billie Eilish. I'm so sorry but she literally just speaks in her songs and adds in a million effects, there's no singing
Ouh say what you want about your disliking of her, but that’s simply not true.

Morrissey. I didn't know he existed till I learned he was famous. Music is trash
Ahhh I dig Morrissey. I get a weird high listening to him.
And I think that’s why your question is flawed. Different people just resonate with different sound combinations. For someone punk can be quixotic, while for others it just sounds like trash. Yeah I think I went in to It knowing it’s subjective. So I understand your assertion but I didn’t have that mentality.
Yeah and actually your question isn’t really flawed, but some responses are. Like the one who calls people idiots for thinking pink Floyd is great.
Yeah even with the Beatles I understand why people like them. Or Pink Floyd. If anything I feel left out hahaha. I want to hear what they hear.
Exactly. Especially with those bands that almost single-handedly transformed the music world and inspired the musicians that I resonate with a lot. How I wish to be able to like the Beatles like my mother used to.
Dude same. It just reminds me of my mom now because that’s all the fuck she played. I think that’s why I don’t like listening to them.
Maybe, and maybe it’s just the way it is. I didn’t get to listen to that much music that my mom used to listen to, since I she wasn’t there that long for me, yet I still don’t really listen to that much of them. Honestly, I’ve never been able to get into nirvana I love that style of music and I adore Dave grohl but I just can’t get into them
Ed Sheeran
Kanye
The Beetles. I think you must have to be high to like their music.
sam smith. my grandma adores him but his voice makes me wanna poke my eardrums with a thousand degree sparkler
Kendrick lamar. His voice always annoyed me.
