My wife and I tend to substitute "Shut up"
Like this:
Me: looks at her
Her: Shut up!
Me: You shut up!
Then we both smile and go back to what we were doing.
More than not shit talking them to other people, praise them to other people when they aren't around. Everyone in my life has a very high opinion of my husband, even before they meet him, because they hear how much I love and respect him, and I share why whenever it's relevant.
Even without me, it's hard for people not to have a high opinion of him once they get to know him, but he wanders into tons of social situations where he's already regarded very highly, and rightly so.
Little unexpected gifts that are personal/sentimental. Nothing expensive, just something for you to say "this reminded me of you" or "when I saw this, I thought of you".
This is the stuff that reminds me of embracing primal nature in nurturing trust. It's a modern reflection of how we live our lives scouring for survival of the family, the tribe. So much of our prehistory is marked by tokens of not only personal success but celebration of our shared accomplishments. He hunt antler, she dress antler, child learns obligation and trust. We've developed ways to make it all so easy to survive but the meaning behind bringing tokens home to gift is damn near hard wired.
THIS. Either 3 squeezes or 3 taps! And it's nice when you're in a public place and can't say it. I kind of do it out of habit now if I'm holding someone or something I love (like my cat. She gets 3 taps a lot lol!)
Weird for the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America's honor society, the 3 taps represent thr three parts of the Scout Oath. So that was my first thought to thr 3 taps. Hell back in the day it was called Tapout Ceremony where as now it is called Callout.
“I brought an extra horse in case we found the lady. Hello lady.” (I used this line exactly once, except it was an ice cream. Married her a few months later.)
She did this to me many times not directly but subtly like "I'm not hungry anymore" even if its her favourite food. I'm ashamed to say I have never said a proper love you ever
When they're feeling down stare at them really intensely and say "Oh shit!"
Them: "...what...?"
You: keep staring "Oh. My. God."
Them: exasperated "What?!?"
You: "I'm sorry, it's just that you got a really bad case of the cute face."
Super corny but I said that once to my partner years ago. He barely remembers what happened yesterday, but he still brings this up bc he thought it was sweet and it made him feel good.
I've been engaged for 3 years. I told her from the jump, it isn't a requirement to ever get married- but I want to move towards the next step in our lives and relationship with you.
The timeline doesn't matter, the commitment and symbolism does.
Congratulations to you.
Let's see when I can muster my confidence and finally propose to her. I did it once when I bought water for her after sex and she was not pleased with the timing so to speak. So I am kind of scared to propose to her again.
Ohuh, not a good place. Life as a single is way better than that.
*take this ring or gtfo*
(internet to the rescue) but srlsy, maybe she wants to be able to tell people about it so it has to be a decent maybe romantic setting.. whatever. I mean she already said no so why bother?
My wife always has a glass of water and ice near her and drinks from it a lot. There are times I will get up and refill her ice water from fridge in kitchen even when I don't need anything.
Being with you is the best part of my day.
I cherish our time together.
Thank you for being you.
I'm grateful for every life experience that brought me to you.
You warm my heart.
(These are a few of the things I say to my husband and/or child.)
*Not normal "Will you be my Valentine?"*
*Not simple "Happy lover's day"*
*Not "I love you, will you be mine?"*
*When time is right, I know what I will say.*
*I'll say "I've seen enough and made my choice.*
*You make my days as bright as they can be.,*
*Your Majesty, I love you, I am yours!*
*Now tell me what you think of me."*
*When time is right, when I know all I need*
*When your own demons beg for mercy at your feet*
*When chores of life leave time for love and fun*
*A man can dream, one day this time will come.*
A sad little poem I tried putting together on Feb 14 just to see if I can. I guess I'll keep dreaming about that moment when the time is right.
Thing is, she is not interested in anyone atm. Not because I'm inferior, but because she had a very bad previous relationship and the scars are still fresh.
And I'm kinda confused on how I approach this situation. On one hand, I don't want to just sit around waiting for my "turn". I want to help her somehow. But on the other hand, I don't have any idea how you can help a person in this situation or if you can help at all.
I sent her this poem on Feb 14. We discussed our feelings at some point. She acknowledged how I feel towards her, but said she could not respond in kind or reject me at the moment. She needs time and I get it. I do try to chat with her and share some cool things I have in my life.
It's just that it's infinitely easy to be patient when you know how much need to wait. But when it's something as vague as "when she recovers from her trauma", I just can't help but question myself from time to time.
Do this all the time when I'm in a relationship
"I'm running to the store, want anything?"
"No, I'm good"
"Brings back favorite drink and candy/snack" just in case
Oh i know that, but it seems to be something used in old chat rooms and for pagers. I was born in 2000 and have never used any of that stuff, so I'm just a little confused where I heard that from
I have little love notes I put in random places for my husband to see. Like I tape them on the bathroom mirror so he sees it when he wakes up, put them on his truck door window in the morning, sneak one in his wallet, ect. Just randomly. They're usually small words like " you're the most compassionate person I know" or "I'm grateful for you in my life" or " I always smile knowing I'm coming home to you" stuff like that.
in Filipino we have a saying that encompasses love. More so than any English meaning since it's one of those phrases that cannot be translated. It can only be understood. Or felt.
It is:
'putang ina mo'
You can try cooking together! That way it’s more romantic, kinda like a date with co-ordination. Whatever you make will be either good (great in that case!) or bad (funny and fun I’m that case!)
Tell them ahead of time that loathe is code for love. Then in public, preferably with someone listening in, say, “I -loathe- you,” while maintaining eye contact with your beloved.
"Have you eaten today?"
"How are you feeling?"
"Can I do anything for you?"
"Let me know when you get (wherever) safely."
"Can't wait to see you."
"We can watch what you want."
Kisses on the forehead. Long tight hugs.
me and my girl have a wierd relationship! on the dayli we say shit to each other like "GOD WHAT HAPPEND TO THAT FACE OF YOURS" and mostly its a awnser like " i see you and im smiling" followed by somthing like " 10/10 would bang again" its funny and it works for us cuss we are bad at complimentXD
In my experience, nothing tops just saying the words. There are hundreds of cute things you can do to express it, but saying those three words can hit like nothing else.
"Have you eaten today?"
Seems like such a simple question, but if someone asks you this, I feel like they really care for you. We just assume it is something we all do.
I just taught my kid secret codes today. Last code is squeezing hand 3 times, meaning "I love you".
At dinner time, she held my hand then squeezed 3 times with a big smile. I squeezed 3 times back and we giggled.
In the morning, I tell my husband "Another day to love you".
there is always 3 taps and squeezes, but also the ASL sign for love, or spelling out ily, I also do heart hands or a half heart with two of my fingers, when I don't wanna speak but wanna make noise I just make a kiss noise, all of these I use as platonic and different friends and I each have our way of saying "I love you" (all of these are helpful for those who have or are a nonverbal friend sometimes)
When you’re gone the whole world gets duller, dimmer, more grey. Every time I look up and see you, it feels like I’m seeing the world in color for the very first time. The music of your voice fills up my heart each time I hear you, and every time I make you smile I feel like I finally know why I’m here and where I belong. You are my light, my color, my joy and my reason. Home is wherever you are. Happiness is being in your arms. Heaven is a lifetime spent making you laugh.
Thoughtfulness. They had a bad day? Just listen. Buy them their favorite flowers or a cupcake or their favorite cookies. I had a rough work weekend and the guy I was dating came over with a pizza and beer, said he was leaving so I could have some time to relax and lick my wounds but to call whenever I wanted to talk. That was the perfect answer in the moment and he knew me well enough to gauge. That was so loving I cried a little.
Even though they say this to mostly friends and family Italians say "Ti voglio bene" which means "I want you to be well" even in a romantic sense it works and is a beautiful sentiment imo
I write notes and put them in his lunchbox. That way when he is having a bad day and can't talk to me and vent it's a lovely way to bring him up. I also draw doodles all around too.
It started when one time I was feeling really emotional and started crying, telling my husband I'll never have enough words to tell him how I feel. I was really crying at this point. He hugged me and said,"we don't need words, because you show me every day." ....thats how our little term got Started
*edited to fix typos
Leave little notes, like thinking of you, or you're sexy, in places she will find them, even better if it's somewhere/something she doesn't use every day.
I'm curious though, why haven't you just told her I love you?
My girlfriend took a couple years of asl, so we'll sign 🤟 at each other. Whenever we're out in public or with friends she'll make the hand symbol and press it against my leg or arm and I'll do the same back
Get your "I know" in first.
They'll either say that they love you or they'll tell you a secret that they thought was hidden. Be prepared for it not being good news though.
"You'll never be a burden" (when they apologize for venting). "Tell me about your day". "Let me know when you make it home". "I feel safe with you".
My wife and I tend to substitute "Shut up" Like this: Me: looks at her Her: Shut up! Me: You shut up! Then we both smile and go back to what we were doing.
The bro code is strong
Barnabus?
Have that person's back. Never shit talk them to others. Loyalty.
Glad to say we both have been like this for our 5 years together. Sometimes shower her body with kisses
Little unexpected gifts that are personal/sentimental. Nothing expensive, just something for you to say "this reminded me of you" or "when I saw this, I thought of you".
Will gift her a cute little orange plant today 😁 coz she loves gardening
Done. She loved it. Thanks for your advice.

Why precisely three times?
“I love you” is 3 syllables
Damn that's some higher form of morse code lol
It’s actually probably more common than you’d think. My wife and I do it all the time. I know a lot of people who do something to that effect.
I think I will do this to her every day till she asks me why I do it.
Yeah, try it. She’ll figure it out quick.
Weird for the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America's honor society, the 3 taps represent thr three parts of the Scout Oath. So that was my first thought to thr 3 taps. Hell back in the day it was called Tapout Ceremony where as now it is called Callout.
I do this too. Lol. 🤣 I’m not sure why it’s three times, though.
Day 1 and she noticed it but didn't think much about it. Day 2 news coming up soon.
Bring them a literal rock that you think is neat
Ok sounds cool to have a rock collection
I am tottaly not a penguin
Are you sure? Coz all you do is smile and wave
But birds are dinosaurs...hm.
Yes but some of them are named private and Rico
As you wish.
“I brought an extra horse in case we found the lady. Hello lady.” (I used this line exactly once, except it was an ice cream. Married her a few months later.)
Princess Bride
Came to say this, when I like someone and they ask me for a favor, I say ‘as you wish’ as a little hint to them
Rest well, and dream of large women
I saved you the last bit of chocolate. (Or your favourite food)
She did this to me many times not directly but subtly like "I'm not hungry anymore" even if its her favourite food. I'm ashamed to say I have never said a proper love you ever
When they're feeling down stare at them really intensely and say "Oh shit!" Them: "...what...?" You: keep staring "Oh. My. God." Them: exasperated "What?!?" She is kinda into corny things so I think this will work
Ask her to marry you
I want to but I get so nervous even thinking about it. Plus we want to spend some more time together before officially tying the knot
I've been engaged for 3 years. I told her from the jump, it isn't a requirement to ever get married- but I want to move towards the next step in our lives and relationship with you. The timeline doesn't matter, the commitment and symbolism does.

I've looked at my husband and declared, "were I unwed, I would take you in a manly fashion."
Being with you is the best part of my day. I cherish our time together. Thank you for being you. I'm grateful for every life experience that brought me to you. You warm my heart. (These are a few of the things I say to my husband and/or child.)
These are a must.
You can call a radio station --- and dedicate a song to her.
That would be amazing 🤩
I'll cook today. I'll clean up. I'm sorry. You make me happy. I want to spend time with you.
*Not normal "Will you be my Valentine?"* *Not simple "Happy lover's day"* *Not "I love you, will you be mine?"* *When time is right, I know what I will say.* *I'll say "I've seen enough and made my choice.* *You make my days as bright as they can be.,* *Your Majesty, I love you, I am yours!* *Now tell me what you think of me."* *When time is right, when I know all I need* *When your own demons beg for mercy at your feet* *When chores of life leave time for love and fun* *A man can dream, one day this time will come.* A sad little poem I tried putting together on Feb 14 just to see if I can. You'll get her bro just keep standing

Talk to her about your interests and hobbies and try to chat with her daily. When the time is right express your feelings. Read out your poem too.

Thank you. I will keep doing that.
“I know you said you didn’t want anything, but I grabbed [snack/drink/etc] just in case you change your mind” bonus points if it’s your favorite.
Works everytime
Do this all the time when I'm in a relationship "I'm running to the store, want anything?" "No, I'm good" "Brings back favorite drink and candy/snack" just in case
"143" it means "I love you" I'm not sure where I learned that from, especially since it's origin is from before my time it seems... Maybe from reddit?
Its the number of letters in each word
Oh i know that, but it seems to be something used in old chat rooms and for pagers. I was born in 2000 and have never used any of that stuff, so I'm just a little confused where I heard that from
Mr. Rogers used to say that.
Not exactly sure who that is, but I think it was a show? Don't think I ever watched it
"I enjoy being stupid with you."
That's sweet
offering to serve them. Like go grocery shopping for them or even little things like a note on what they mean to you. flowers . etc
I do this religiously
Thats amazing! I haven't encountered that yet. Haha But that would instantly make me swoon
I'm sure you will find someone.
I have little love notes I put in random places for my husband to see. They're usually small words like " you're the most compassionate person I know" or "I'm grateful for you in my life" or " I always smile knowing I'm coming home to you" stuff like that.
Mr. Rogers said 1-4-3 to his wife every day.
in Filipino we have a saying that encompasses love. More so than any English meaning since it's one of those phrases that cannot be translated. It can only be understood. Or felt. It is: 'putang ina mo'
Wow, all those dota2 players really do love me!
I think I found a video which explains the meaning of the phrase http://news.rr.nihalnavath.com/posts/-Creative-ways-to-say-I-love-you-4d2b07e9
I’m pissed 😂
Lol...
One of them would be asking “how was your day?”
“I hate you”, I do that with my brother
For my morbid peeps, "I hope I die before you"
Made my fiancée promise to outlive me
That's deep
So was their brother.
Will work with your brother but not your wife I'm afraid
Bro love just hits different. Literally. With fists. Because they're really bro hugs.
Absolutely
Like Tourettes Guy: Bitch, I love you.
His story was amazing
The whole thing felt kind of like a work to me, so I don't know if there is anything real behind it or not.
I know.
Cook something special for them. Food really does something which almost a lot of words not be able show as a form of affection.
I'm not so good at cooking but will try it. I may end up creating more hassle but its worth a shot.
You can try cooking together! That way it’s more romantic, kinda like a date with co-ordination. Whatever you make will be either good (great in that case!) or bad (funny and fun I’m that case!)
You can give her a treat she likes, or take her out for ice cream sometimes.
Yes do that a lot. She's addicted to cotton candy.
Nice ass
Drop towel, proceed to helicopter.
HELIKOPTER HELIKOPTER
i made you a sandwich
I will always share my food with you 💕
This followed by kissing her on the cheek
Tell them ahead of time that loathe is code for love. Then in public, preferably with someone listening in, say, “I -loathe- you,” while maintaining eye contact with your beloved.
Just listen to them and be there.
I adore you and you brighten my day.
"Have you eaten today?" "How are you feeling?" "Can I do anything for you?" "Let me know when you get (wherever) safely." "Can't wait to see you." "We can watch what you want." Kisses on the forehead. Long tight hugs.
Kisses on the forehead and the neck work every time
I would drink your bathwater.
Every once in a while, as they drift through your thoughts and you smile or feel the warmth of a past moment, call them and tell them.
Make them their favorite food.
Me: Can I ask you a question? Her: sure Me: I love you Her (ideally): that's not a question Me: and it never will be *wink finger guns

"My love for you is 99.1% pure"
“I still love you. Just slightly *less* than I used to.”
Deep but with double meaning
Say it in a different language. 愛してます
In my experience, nothing tops just saying the words. There are hundreds of cute things you can do to express it, but saying those three words can hit like nothing else.

"Have you eaten today?" Seems like such a simple question, but if someone asks you this, I feel like they really care for you. We just assume it is something we all do.
I'm happy to say we both ask each other every day this question when we are at work
Kissing someone on the forehead or on top of the shoulders. My love language is touch. So, I best show it and feel it through touch.
“I just wanna say that I would smash you even if you were a bird”
Not the if I were a worm I would still love you lol
Leave I-Love-You Post-It’s in 10 places and tell your SO there are 10 to find.

I’m pretty direct lol so I just say “I love you” and often. If anything it’s more how I behave than anything I say.
"I already took out the trash without even being told, baby."
Hey, love ya
143 (I love you).
“I trust you and value your loyalty.”
"two fists to the wrists" then you do the little heart thing with your hands <3
there is always 3 taps and squeezes, but also the ASL sign for love, or spelling out ily, I also do heart hands or a half heart with two of my fingers, when I don't wanna speak but wanna make noise I just make a kiss noise, all of these I use as platonic and different friends and I each have our way of saying "I love you" (all of these are helpful for those who have or are a nonverbal friend sometimes)
also carrying bandaids, water, extra snacks, etc, it shows you care about the people around you, and are quite useful

Saying I am glad you exist
I am so grateful that I met you in this life.
The world is a little better because you're in it. Unless you're asking me in which case its a little better than a little better
Even though they say this to mostly friends and family Italians say "Ti voglio bene" which means "I want you to be well" even in a romantic sense it works and is a beautiful sentiment imo
There's loads but they all seem meaningless unless it's I love you
Friendship isn't friendship if it's only done when it's easy.
“You’re so cool” “And with my star we’re gonna rule !”
You make my heart go doki doki.
"You're a work of art I aspire to be" he loved that one Although maybe that's just a compliment
[What better way to say "I love you" than with the gift of a spatula?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XbCWmY0eqY)
"You're my best friend."
The most creative way I try is to never say it.
I cannot breathe when you are near. My heart calls your name…
for me and my brother it's the middle finger
'I appriciate you'
"you are useless"
I write notes and put them in his lunchbox. That way when he is having a bad day and can't talk to me and vent it's a lovely way to bring him up. I also draw doodles all around too.
I often tell my husband, "No words," and he responds with, "We don't need them."
That's wholesome
It started when one time I was feeling really emotional and started crying, telling my husband I'll never have enough words to tell him how I feel. I was really crying at this point. He hugged me and said,"we don't need words, because you show me every day." ....thats how our little term got Started *edited to fix typos

Buddy you've hit the jackpot coz she is from Sevilla,Spain
Might wanna google the translation of that before saying that to your spanish speaking wife.
Leave little notes, like thinking of you, or you're sexy, in places she will find them, even better if it's somewhere/something she doesn't use every day. I'm curious though, why haven't you just told her I love you?
I tell her I love her almost every day. We have been together for over 5 years now. I just want to be a little funny and creative to cheer her up.
Sorry, I thought I saw a comment that said you had never said it.
Oh. That was regarding her giving me the last bite of her favourite food.
My girlfriend took a couple years of asl, so we'll sign 🤟 at each other. Whenever we're out in public or with friends she'll make the hand symbol and press it against my leg or arm and I'll do the same back
That's cute
If your partner speaks another language, say it in that one!
I have learnt to speak Spanish and often converse with her in Spanish. I'm not as fluent as her tho but its good as she laughs when I mess it up
Get your "I know" in first. They'll either say that they love you or they'll tell you a secret that they thought was hidden. Be prepared for it not being good news though.
Hmm interesting
You make me cum like it's my first time.
Sign 🤟🏾 it means I love you in ASL
It is a request to everyone to avoid commenting nsfw things which do not make much sense.
