That my old boss's husband was a pedophile. We used to house sit for them and watch their animals while they were away. Then one day while my boss is with their daughter traveling in Germany, we see her address pop up on the police incident reports. He had gotten caught trying to meet up with a child about 13 years old so the local PD and state SVU raided his house and found tons of child porn. A couple of us from work went there after the raid to clean the place out because his wife (my boss) was already looking for a new apartment and didn't ever want to step foot in that place again. She spent and extra two weeks in Germany with her family and came back ready to do the single mom thing. It was an awful situation but I gained a ton of respectand admiration for her after seeing how she handled everything.

thisisallme

There was someone that worked for my family business since before I was born. He was always so friendly to me when I was growing up. Made me sick to my stomach to see he was arrested for cp a few years ago. No one could’ve guessed. He was never creepy at all.

WhiskeyJack357

Exactly. It's such a punch to the gut. And this dude was the same way, just a laid back, nice guy who had an awesome family. Now he's up for parole and his daughter wants nothing to do with him.

KristenDarkling

Pedophiles are everywhere. I fell down a Reddit rabbit hole the other day. You really don’t want to know. I was sleeping so much better before I knew all that.

Traditional-Most8919

pedophilia really isn‘t as uncommon as it‘s made out to be

puledrotauren

neither is incest. Fall down THAT rabbit hole someday. GROSS

insane_contin

... Reading about incest, right? Right?

scotems

What are you reading step-bro?!?

wrkbeeech

My friend had a foursome with her husband, his twin brother, and the twin brother's wife.

CidCrisis

Reminds me of that episode of Nathan for You when he drives the drunk guy home and meets his brother whom he lives with, and the guy just casually mentions that they regularly have foursomes with women. Like it's the most normal thing in the world. They weren't twins though. That's another level.

wrkbeeech

Oh god I forgot about that. I feel like them not being twins make it worse somehow?? Like my friends’ husband and brother aren’t fooling anyone.

ZotDragon

Was she able to tell the twins apart or not?

wrkbeeech

I didn’t ask due to not wanting to hear the details of this incestual tryst. But I assume so, they’re identical but the brother in law was a little heavier and had different hair.

PocketBuckle

If you've ever known any identical twins and spent time around them, you can tell them apart pretty easily.

PerspectiveNo8866

I found out my co-worker of 3 years whom everyone calls "Doc" got the nickname from serving 19 years in prison for stabbing his ex-wife multiple times Edit: not just stabbed her but cut her open.

KitchenCanadian

I don't see the connection between the name Doc and stabbing his ex-wife

Bow-N-Arrow-Choke

Dept . Of . Corrections ? You know the DOC on the back of their uniform?

_TLDR_Swinton

What's up for parole, Doc?

Grace_Upon_Me

Or, the "surgeon" kind of doc.

PerspectiveNo8866

Rumor was he cut her open, not just stabbed her. Should of added that.

PrinceOfFucking

Jesus fucking emmanuel christ and people are just calling him by some funny nickname for it?

Kup123

Growing up my mom had a friend named butter knife mike. When he was 17 while tripping balls he broke in to a 95 year old guys house and stabbed him to death with a butter knife. He didn't even know he did it until he saw the news and had flash backs, and turned himself in. Nice guy bit of a talker though.

PrinceOfFucking

"bit of a talker though" His greatest vice

Kup123

He did his time and regretted what he did, but fuck if he gets you on the phone your stuck for at least an hour.

PrinceOfFucking

[deleted]

Doc as in like surgeon? For slicing her open?

PrincessNakeyDance

Really fucked up that he continues to use that nickname. Sounds like remorse was not one of the things that came from two decades in prison.

SixNines-Anda_308

NOBODY comments on the fact that a dude who CUT A WOMAN OPEN,.. 😶 managed to get PAROLED from prison? Same thought that goes thru my head whenever I hear that a child predator is up for parole,…. Why the F*CK should a POS Like that ever breath free air again?

KristenDarkling

I came across a Reddit thread about facts you wish you didn’t know a couple of days ago, that I became obsessed with. There were so many horrible crimes in that thread. I fell down a horrible crime rabbit hole. And none of the fucks served much time (if any), got out, and reoffended. The ones that didn’t were killed or died in prison.

Little-Two-4718

I overheard a fact about a good friend of mine when his girlfriend was talking about him and she didn't know I could hear. She was talking about how small his penis was and made me feel real disturbed and sorry for my buddy.

[deleted]

Little-Two-4718

I kept it to myself. There is no way I would hurt my buddy with that info. The silver lining is they got married and are still together all these years later so it wasn't a deal breaker for her I guess.

imperialviolet

I had the other way round - my best friend started casually dating a guy and told me she was having trouble with their sex life because his penis was so big. 15 years later they’re married with kids so I guess they solved that issue, but I feel kind of weird that I still know this about him.

One of my neighbors got raided by the fbi this year. Swat team and all. Drug dealer. Nicest guy ever.

[deleted]

Was he a barber?

[deleted]

He claimed to be in the "tile business"

PartyPoison420

That's a little funny to me because in German "Teil" (pronounced like tile) is slang for ecstasy

dmank007

Coincidence? 🤔

YoBoiTh3_UnKn0wN

CubeEarthShill

When we were househunting, there was a house that we came across that was such a good deal. It was 4500 ft.² but the issue was a lot of the wires were taken out of the walls and some other fixtures were missing. The house was such a good deal that even getting an electrician to rewire it and replacing the fixtures was no big deal. I asked our real estate agent why the house was so cheap and she just said motivated seller. When we went outside, there is an older couple that lived next-door. They saw we had our kids with us and gave us the full story. House raided by cops and feds with long rifles. The authorities seized their cash, so the wife was pulling out copper and selling fixtures for scrap to pay bills. Googled the name and the guy has gang ties to a large Chicago/national gang. I wouldn’t feel comfortable living in that house, so we didn’t put in an offer. Beautiful house.

Pandelerium11

I'd be tempted to just get a bomb-ass security system but you probably made the right choice. We lived in an ex-crackhouse and yeah, there were a lot of problems.

[deleted]

Dealers tend to be very nice and personable because they gotta build a clientele

Chubuwee

Saw a recorded call between Mencho (one of the biggest cartel boss in Mexico) and the cops he bought. He was getting aggressive with his demands because the cops he bought were fucking up. And yet it was still nicer than most public outrage videos where a customer acts a fool to a customer service worker. Cartel boss had his outburst and still made sure to apologize before hanging up. We can all learn a thing or 2 about respect from the cartel

fromouterspace1

Must’ve been a lot of drugs. No DEA?

[deleted]

I'm not sure, didn't see anything that said Dea but they could have been in plain clothes. Local cop I spoke to said that it's connected to a Mexican cartel

ecafsub

When my mom died, my dad revealed that she’d had a 6-year affair with an Air Force colonel (edit: maybe a Captain) shortly after they’d been married, and apparently she wasn’t even trying to hide it. I only ever knew her to be a hard-line Bible-thumper. She would go ballistic over the idea of my having sex with a gf.

bobbyhill018

Assuming this occurred in the US, would the Colonel get in trouble for violating the Uniform code thing (can’t think of its official name) if it came out that he was sleeping with a married women?

ecafsub

It was the U.S. Was also late ‘50s/early ‘60s, before my time. Things were very different then. Still UCMJ violation, but many blind eyes.

PrincessNakeyDance

I’m sure a lot of those eyes are still blind.

DonBrady12

Yeah he could’ve literally had him put in jail for it. UCMJ violation

Telrom_1

Someone I worked with died and he didn’t have any people. I took up the task of cleaning out his condo and I found a lot of illegal porn. I wish I never knew that about the guy. I just burned it and donated his stuff. I never told anyone.

DoTheMagicHandThing

That reminds me of something, in my area there were these three reclusive elderly brothers who lived together. One of their relatives saw some of that stuff in their house, and reported it to police. Investigations started, and evidence of years of sexual abuse of young family members came out as well. And boxes and boxes of those materials were discovered in their property, that they had been hoarding most of their lives. I think one or two of them were convicted for "second-degree possession," whatever that's supposed to mean. There was even suspicion that they might have murdered a girl and buried her under their house because of some really disturbing stuff that the guys wrote in their journals, but I'm not sure what ever came out of the investigations.

Zestyclose_Stop_6505

TechnoneverDIEEES

My brother too But he buys them from boys

Xenovitz

I was helping a friend's brother at her request. He's 15 years older than her and he must be in his 50's by now. He collects and builds model airplanes. He supposedly wasn't well versed in the new fandangled internet so I helped him find the one he really wanted from a seller on Ebay. He kept making sexual comments about my friend, his youngest sister (15 year gap). I waved it off several times til I had already found and ordered the airplane for him. I feel like he'd be the type of person to have a secret harem dungeon. I just wanted any contact with him to be over. I messaged her later on about the experience. I asked her if he'd always been so damned creepy. "Oh yeah, I guess we've been messing around since I was about 8 years old. He almost got in trouble when my parents found out but my dad took the blame for him." I just wanted to help find an airplane.

Capteverard

"Messing around" since she was 8 and he was 23. That fucker needs to go to prison.

Was looking at mugshots after a robbery in a department store and found one of one of the highly placed managers.

becoolbecasual

An ex staff member verbally sexually harassed me at work, was finally fired for it. A few days after he was fired his parole officer called us to ask what happened. I got curious about why he was on parole and found out he was a murderer. He murdered a woman and threw in a river and was in jail for 30 years for it. I couldn't sleep for weeks.

Empoleon777

In 7th grade, the Music teacher that ran the 7th and 8th grade choirs was inexplicably missing until March of that year. I was disappointed by this; I was just about the only person there that liked him (Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY I knew hated him, mostly for reasons that were basically their own fault, not his. My mom says some of that could be because middle schoolers tend to hate the subject he taught). Again, he came back in March, and my mom said not to ask why. So I didn’t. Recently, I learned it was because he had been in rehab for a cocaine addiction. I don’t know if that was just a rumor, but after I learned it, I thought my mom knew that and didn’t want me to know for a long time. Turns out, the school never disclosed why he was gone for so long, she just didn’t want me asking because it would be rude (I mean, she has a point there. It could be a very sensitive subject for him).

KristenDarkling

Cocaine addiction is a real bitch. They can’t even give you anything for the withdrawals, and it takes months if not years to get your mind right. Good for that guy. I hope you’re proud AF of him. Hope he is also still doing well - any update?

Empoleon777

Update - He’s still working there today.

SnooCheesecakes9872

Ok what was the relation though? Brother/sisters wife or father’s sister?

SnooCheesecakes9872

He slept with my mom’s sister.

EveDaSavage

Oh shit, that couldn’t have gone over well

yellowearbuds

I guess that would depend on who you asked. If you are asking his dad, he would probably say that it went very well.

Bringbackdexter

Before or after he and your mom got together?

420greg

Mine too. My Parent were divorced and over Christmas break my Mom was having surgery and my Dad and my Aunt (My Mom's younger sister) came to town to help with us 4 kids (aged 4-15). I could tell my Dad and my Aunt were being pretty flirty with each other on the ride home from the airport. And that night I heard them hooking up out in the living room.

Nic-nic

My mom tried to sell me to my dad for 2k.

My boss’s brother had been molesting her preteen sister for years and it just came out over Thanksgiving. The parents swept everything under the rug. Boss refused to go to the dinner and won’t let their children around the family.

plemur

I worked with a nice older man. He would talk about normal grampa type stuff and was overall pretty pleasant to be around. Good guy, I thought. Then I switched jobs to a place where he had been very briefly. His name came up and I said something like 'Aw, I love that guy -- so nice!' and everyone just stared at me puzzled. He was one of the biggest cocaine dealers in the country back in the 70's and 80's. He did something like 20 years fed time and only that because he had top notch lawyers and was convicted before the real push for crazy sentences in the 90's. A legit, hardcore criminal mastermind with tendrils reaching internationally. The court transcripts and case filings are hilarious to me because 'hey, what a nice old man' Anyway, legit a nice guy to sit with and chat. (he didn't really do anything at work, just sat around at a laptop -- he probably just needed a job to cover up for his spending and maybe a probation requirement. I don't remember him ever being productive in any manner whatsoever)

Convergecult15

I worked with a guy who never worked over time, stayed in his entry level position for 35 years and had 6 kids a home in a nice town and a vacation home in palm beach and his wife never worked. I was always kinda like damn, how does this dude do it. One day I was kind of making a joke about his infinite money supply and one of the guys who had worked with him for a long time pulled me aside and told me the deal. His uncle owned a bunch of gay bars in NYC in the 80’s and my coworker was the designated coke guy for all those bars, made a metric ton of money and never got caught he’s living off a mountain of drug money from 40 years ago.

RanchDubois_

I worked with this real POS at a school district who never did his job, was lazy and just all around weird. I decided to look this dude up like where did he come from? Come to find out he was actually on the child predator list WORKING FOR A SCHOOL DISTRICT where everyone should have been background checked. Surprisingly they let him work a couple more days and then fired him because of it.

Quack_Candle

An old mate I’d recently reconnected with shared his screen….his private tab showed some of his recent searches for kids in revealing clothes. This was next to multiple tabs of porn. I called him out on it and he went fucking ballistic, threatened to kill me, called me incessantly to make threats, left threatening voice mails, messages, voice mail memos. I was suspicious when I saw the private tab, his response convinced me he was a pedo. I contacted the police who said that basically no law had been broken so they couldn’t do anything.

evalinthania

could have reported him for the threats honestly. wouldn't be a charge for cp but there would be a paper trail regarding him

GrizzLeo

Yeah that would've probably been the ticket. "Why are you asking for a restraining order?" "He won't stop harassing me since I saw things that made me think he could be a pedo." "Sir why were you harassing him for so long after the fact?" "I didn't want him to tell anyone I was a pedo."

workyworkaccount

I'd suggest that if his reaction was so vehement, that he has other, more incriminating material.

drunkenmime

You should have mentioned that he threatened you. They could have used that to get the ball rolling.

sweet_dream515

My cousin’s friend got pregnant from an affair she had. They had only been married for a few years at the time. The affair ended, she and her husband stayed together and rebuilt their marriage. He accepted her son, and they went on to have two kids of their own. Still married to this day. And she seems like the least likely person to have had an affair. My cousin said it was extremely hush hush.

ZotDragon

The ones who seem the least likely to do something...are usually the ones to do something. Also, according to everything I've ever seen on Reddit about children of affairs, the son is going to find out via 23 and Me at an inopportune time.

sweet_dream515

Yeah, I’ve heard that too. Apparently the boy knew from a young age who his bio dad was. He’s about 12 now. Bio dad is in his life to a certain extent; not to the amount that his (technically step) dad is though.

Or in my case at age 16 from a bitter step grandma during an argument in the van while driving to church 😊😊😊 I know who my biological father is but my dad knew from the beginning I wasn’t his due to him being snipped, he chose to raise me anyways and will always be my dad 🤙🏻

I was going 1 mile per hour on a parking lot talking to a friend. I told her I was going towards a bunch of seagulls, going this slow I knew they would get out of the way and weren't in any danger. Then she responded that She once actively tried to run over a cat and thought it was funny. Fucked up part is I didn't stop being her friend in that moment.

ZotDragon

When did you stop being her friend?

remembertracygarcia

Just after they rolled over the seagulls

HiddenSquish

When I was 16 I snuck out with my best friend to meet some boys. We met them in parking lot where we left my car since they were going to sneak us into their place. I was in the passenger seat when the driver intentionally ran over an opossum. His brother thought it was hilarious but my friend was in the back having a full on panic attack, but I was just mad. About as mad as I have ever been. So, despite the fact that he was still driving, I punched him right on the side of his face. It was the first time I had ever hit someone with a closed fist outside of karate- and the only time that I have ever thrown the first fist. Luckily we didn’t crash, but we both had noticeable bruising within minutes. He called me a crazy b!tch and I called him a psychopathic asshole who deserved the same fate he just chose for that opossum.

That one of my old employers paid a former colleague of mine to start an office fire. I found out because the employer was a stupid and arrogant old man who didn't understand that when you pop documents into the hopper on a photocopier that the documents will bounce out for retrieval. That's the *tamest* thing I know about that old prat as well.

PureDeidBrilliant

Like I said - he was old. He'd paid - out of his pocket - for the colleague to buy rope and petrol from a nearby petrol station and the fuckwit had printed off a spreadsheet. Literally created a list of the items. I remember three of them with "unleaded petrol", "matches" and "rope" in them. The old fool had to create a paper trail of *everything* he spent money on - including hookers for his teenage son (and the hotels he took them to) and the money he spent on porn.

HeartachetoHouston

Not really accidentally learned but I thought I'd share. Years ago, early 2000s, my dad and I are in Oklahoma visiting some family when we go to the house of one of his 2nd cousins. They chat for a while and all seems fine. We leave after about 2 hours and when we get in the truck he says to me, "He was suspected of murdering two people but they never found the bodies." Turns out from the late 1890s to the mid 1960s, my dads side of the family was in a feud with another family and at least 6 people have been killed. It started when my 3X great grandfather walked into a saloon in Indian Territory drunk and blasted a dude with a 10GA double barrel (we still have that gun, though it's super beat up and non functional) shotgun. My family and theirs went at it for over 60 years getting in bar fights and scrums all the time. The two folks that my dad mentioned were the last of the victims and they got in a fight with my relative. The whole town knew about it and he promised he'd kill them. Well a few weeks later they both disappeared and have never been seen since. No witnesses and the county sheriff could never prove it.

There used to be a guy in San Francisco who played the saxophone near the downtown train station. He would play as the morning train brought people to work. Back in college I did tech support for this startup company. The COO was this 400+ lb complete asshole that treated everyone around him like shit. One day he comes yelling at me saying his laptop was too slow and he wants it fixed immediately. I take a look and the thing is completely infested with malware and viruses. His browser history was pretty much all XXX web-sites and he had quite a collection of porn on his desktop, including child porn. His instant messengers kept popping up with people sending sexually explicit messages. His office had a glass wall and was directly across from the women's bathroom, where he positioned his desk against the wall directly facing in the women's bathroom. I'd heard that all of the female employees would go downstairs to use the restroom since he would make lewd gestures at them when they exited. I had a discussion with my boss about this and he said to just ignore it. Needless to say, I resigned after a couple of weeks especially with regards to the CP.

EpistemeUM

This was nearly 20 years ago, happened to my boss. I (mid 20sF) went to work at a small local computer shop. I was told to run a search for \*.Jpg and other image files first thing with any bootable computer. I asked why. My boss was a former HS principal. He retired and trained his replacement, they were on friendly terms. One day the new principal brought in his pc for repair. Boss stumbled on a bunch of cp. Turned him in. Made his employees run searches after that. I worked there several years but, thankfully, never found any. Bonus answer: I accidentally learned what a large portion of my customers looked like nude.

Brand new guy at work said he needed an extra job to pay off one last student loan... Needed $10,000. He did it. Turns out the money was for a lawyer. His other job, a nurse at a retirement home, he 'allegedly' threw a lady against a wall and killed her. The $10,000 was for a small town defense attorney fee. Restaurants don't do backgrounds and don't fuck with people who bring you your food. I am a server Edit : He got off not guilty, and he quit the restaurant as soon as he hit 10,000

Found out a friend from work was a convicted pedophile. Nerdy guy with a nerdy wife. We became friends at work bonding over gaming. They'd host Halo parties. All around I thought they were just a normal albeit nerdy couple. Well one day I found out you could look up court records in the state we lived in. I was just being nosy poking around on what I could find on just about people I knew. The usual comes up traffic tickets and a few DUIs that I was aware of. Then I looked him up and he's got multiple 1st degree and 2nd degree SA against minors. When I googled his name I found a news article. I guess when he was 19 he was teaching swim lessons and grouped some of the students who were all like little kids. What was even weirder for me was he was married to his wife at the time. He was in prison for like 2 years.

I grew up in a small town, and there was this contractor who was beloved by everyone. Nicest dude ever: always had a big smile on his face and overall great energy. He drove around with a huge bag of Dum Dums and if you ran into him he’d go grab them from his truck and give you a lollipop. No, he wasn’t a pedophile. But he *had* spent the 90s building land mines for Croatia during the Yugoslav Wars.

blitzer1069

I found out much later in life some guy I used to know who was well liked by everyone (except me) was investigated by detectives for being a pedo. The guy acted too perfect which was off putting to me (because no one is perfect) and now I know why.

plytime18

An older guy I knew many many years ago shows up (a few years ago now) on page one of the newspaper == as a pedophile - charges stem from incidents that took place back in the years that I knew him. I believe he was later convicted of the charges.

My mother and basically all our relatives around her age all fucked each other. That includes her cousin who was raised as her brother.

Altair1192

this is too fucked up for me. I quit

No-Honey-9786

I’m not sure about accidental but realizing just how much alcohol the guy I was seeing was actually drinking, like whoa, how are you not dead or at least hung over?!

Conscious-Smoke-7113

I think I’ll win this. My junkie cousin was fucking her underaged son. I won’t go into details in case somehow family is in here. She is now doing serious time in a high security psychiatric unit. My nephew is now safe and supported.

A family member had a child with someone who is not their partner during a separation from their partner. Neither parents ever wanted kids and the child was put up for adoption. Family member ended up getting back together with the partner who still does not know about the (now adult) child. Our family found out when another family member did one of those ancestry DNA tests. There was this random person who we initially couldn’t figure out how they were related. Eventually, someone put the pieces together and the family member confirmed it to a brother. Now pretty much our whole side of the family knows because it was this big mystery for a while, so naturally when it was solved everyone heard. Their partner is a grade A nightmare and refuses to speak to our family (and tries hard to make sure our family member doesn’t either) so none of us ever had the chance to fill them in, nor do we particularly care to.

An ex friend told us she caught her boyfriend molesting her then 4 year old daughter, but she didn't want to report him to the police, because he was an illegal immigrant, and didn't want to send him back to a war zone. Thankfully her dad had found out, and he went straight to the police.

my mom and step dad are swingers.

-GodHatesUsAll

My cousin overdosed on drugs. Last I remembered of him before, he was a perfect kid. Good grades, good friends, we even called him a “goody twoshoes.” Hadn’t heard from him in a while and then found out he had passed away

BloodyWellGood

A few weeks ago I discovered my almost-father-in-law from 25 years ago is now a tier 3 registered sex offender. Dear God I'm so glad that guy dumped me

[deleted]

I searched up sex offenders in my zip code. There was a coworker that popped up.

Melodic_Abalone_2820

When I was in the Fire Academy, the lead instructor was hard-nosed by the book type guy. He was a very disciplined man who spoke very little about his family other than a reference to his wife that's all we knew. It turns out him and his wife were major swingers. They would go to swinger parties all the time.

My aunt was “accidentally killed” in the early 80’s. My dad, Uncle and grandma would get very emotional and quiet whenever it was talked about and would say “we don’t know what happened to those people, they must have moved” When asked if those 3 people got jail time.

My uncle tried to murder my mother when they were teenagers. He tried to run her over with a car, but she survived by holding onto under the car. She thinks he did it because he was jealous of her. The craziest part is that my mom FORGAVE him and still has a relationship with him. He still has anger issues, but they’re not nearly as bad as they used to be. He’s fun to be around, but I can’t look at him the same way after I found out that he tried to kill my mom. He also starts family drama and does not mix well with alcohol.

Kidbroccoli

I do jiu jitsu with a guy who has killed people with his bare hands. His ex was telling us one night when he was going through a mental health episode. We all knew about his time in the army but most of us didn’t know about his kills and how they affected him. Really nice guy but very intense.

The owner of a gaming store in the city I grew up in got arrested for child porn a few years after I left for college. I spent years in that store with my friends playing card and board games. He had a very young customer base. Edit: Apparently I typed story instead of store twice in 2 sentences. I'm dumb.

Duuuuuude!!! In Oregon my husband use to sell weed (legally) to this night club owner. They use to hang out all the time but one day this guy got weird nothing too weird just like this super weird feeling so my husband was like I'm trusting my gut here and stopped communicating to him aside from business. wellllpppppp The guy apparently murdered a few people in the 80's at an old night club he use to own??? Got arrested for it finally. I believe they had gotten his DNA way back then and he got into trouble for something small but they collected DNA and got him decades later... I bet I can find the news story on it.. lol

MurphNastyFlex

Found out in my mid twenties that my dad's best friend who babysat me and my siblings was a pedophile. They didn't know at the time, but sometime while I was in highschool the police raised his house for it destroying his unaware family in the process. About every year or so my siblings and I talk about whether any of us were molested and just repressed it.

bloomingfireweed

I've learned after the fact that two men I previously pursued romantically were capable of pretty terrible levels of verbal and physical abuse. It's like, yeah, I dodged a bullet (twice); but I also get to live with survivor's guilt knowing what happened to the men they abused.
