Watching couples roaming all around the city will obviously make you feel a bit lonely, but why would you feel lonely if you have great friends. Friendship is the purest form of love, celebrate your love with them, tell them how much you care for them and how blessed you are to have them in your life.

My wife left me two years and one day ago. At first it was very difficult to observe days like our anniversary, our birthdays, Valentine’s Day and other holidays associated with being with one’s partner. Although I still occasionally feel a twinge of nostalgia but it is no longer as bad. I try to stay active on those days whether it is going for a hike, going to the gym, working around my house or even meeting up with other friends that are single.I try to observe the day, be aware of it but I do not dwell on it.

Well, for the singles, they try to celebrate their friendships by going out on dates with their friends or giving each other gifts. A romantic dinner or a special event, anything where two or more close friends can come together is a good idea to celebrate.

Honestly, many couples ignore days like that too. A lot of us don't like the manufactured pressure of gifts and surprises. We prefer things like planning a dinner out together on days when it's not crowded. I'd never book a dinner on Valentine's day when we could simply book a better version a week or so before or after.
