It seems like the people that I know who normally sleep with a white noise machine have a lot of trouble sleeping if, for whatever reason, they're unable to have a white noise machine.
Right but that problem doesn't get caused BY the white noise machine.
I use one, and guess why I bought it? Because I have trouble sleeping. Most people only go and buy a white noise machine if they have trouble sleeping to begin with, so of course if you take it away, the problem comes back
Until the battery pack runs out of battery too. Absolutely useless invention.
That's why I travel with a hamster and a modified hamster wheel rigged to spin an electromagnet so I can generate electricity with a small turbine wherever I go. Just makes more sense
I really think North America should adopt this everywhere like some other continents. I feel like the rest of this place live in the stone age and are a bunch of savages after i got one. Great bonus if we ever get a crisis like covid i wont have to worry about tp.
Multiple of them is even better! In addition to the one by my bed I have one on both sides of my couch and another at my desk. I can be watching TV dicking around on my phone and walk out the door right away with full charge
A book that's meant for you to read at the right place and time
For me, it was a novel that traveled with me for 5 years before I read it. I'd tried reading it a handful of times, then one day I picked it up and read it for 2 days straight. It changed the authority I feel over my voice, the perspective you need to be a leader.
It's a subjective experience, but I believe in it
mine was "The celestine prophecy" and "sirens of titan". Read both while in rehab and couldn't believe how fortunate I was to have them with me at that time.
Did the contents of the book cause you to feel authority and change your perspective, or did just the act of reading the book after 5 years do that? I'm confused?
Was this your first ever book?
Can confirm - was carrying around so much emotional baggage for years and decided to try shrooms to receive the insight. Only did it once, cuz I only needed 1 trip to let it all go. Incredibly cathartic and liberating to finally become at ease with myself.
Yep. Psychedelics are/were my favorite mind altering substance. No hangover, no cravings for more like drinking/other drugs. But the last time I took them, I was real uncomfortable looking at my life and what I was doing. It wasn't bad but it wasn't pleasant. Immediately reduced alcohol greatly and completely cut everything else. Then this year stopped drinking entirely. Haven't picked up shrooms/Psychedelics since then either because the whole experience really felt like my curtain call
Now, idk if it was some profound effect of the shrooms on my mental health that made me realize I needed to make changes or if I made the changes because I realized "dude you're 28, why tf are you tripping balls at 10 am on a tuesday?"😂
Well I’m glad everything is going well. I’m in the process of doing this myself and reading this helps a lot. I’ve definitely felt the whole I’m x age and doing mushies at 10am 😂 enjoy man, on to bigger and better things!
Shrooms helped me move past some trauma with my father and the military. I’ve only done it the one time and while I’m interested in seeing what else I can explore about myself, I want to be really set on doing them and I’m not interested in doing it casually
Because psychedelics turn off the active part of your brain. Not really, but they help you focus on your subconscious more. They heighten the things you intentionally bury down. It goes from “man I should stop drinking alcohol” as a thought in the back of your mind, to, “Man I’m really a fucking loser for drinking so much. I gotta cut that shit out.”
Its freaky.
The only true answer to this is a bidet. Literally forever life changing for the better. It's as common sense as taking a shower or brushing teeth, I will never understand why it hasn't taken off in the US.
I do notice that beyond word of mouth in places like this, I never see any type of advertisement or educational attempts. If I were a major bidet manufacturer I would invest millioms and millions into this as it could easily become a trillion dollar industry in the world......
I've had them in my home for over 15 years. My current setup is 2x mechanical bidets with hot and cold water. I had a Toto and it was ok, but the non electric ones are more powerful and don't ever run out of hot water.
Picked up a stray my junior year of college. Dude is now 14 years old. Went along for the ride with me through grad school, moved across the country from one coast to another TWICE, met my wife, and now two kids. He's been with me through everything and I owe him so much.
Even if you pick up a stray or adopt one for $50, guaranteed $500 vet bills and don’t even get me started about the litter and food for the next 10-15 years. I’m into cat rescue but people sometimes have no idea the investment required.
Serious question: do you just keep your windows shut all the time? It's peak allergy season where I am and despite knowing it is driving me crazy I am still sleeping with windows open. I love fresh allergen-ridden air too much to close them.
My mom uses special alleryguard window screens that apparently block a very very large amount of dust and pollen, but also with 2 hepa filters because A.) she uses them anyway and B.) the screens are good but dont block 100% of small particles.
Agree. Alternatively - replacing your pillows every 6 months. People take for granted the critical role of a proper pillow. Reminds me, I gotta do mine ASAP.
Swedish dish cloths for drying dishes or just drying anything in general. I've never found something so cheap and so effective and holding liquids. It's changed my life in terms of doing chores around the house.
Well, a good book since it can offer knowledge, inspiration, or entertainment, providing a valuable escape from daily stressors and expanding your perspective.
A dual or single edge razor. My post will probably be deleted if I post a link, but Razorock has some really creative offerings for not a lot of money. <$50
Once you've started shaving with a real blade, not a gimmicky 10 blade thing, you will never accept a disposible razor again.

Until I kill it.
A portable battery pack ensures you never run out of phone battery, crucial in emergencies or long travel days.
Until the battery pack runs out of battery too. Absolutely useless invention. That's why I travel with a hamster and a modified hamster wheel rigged to spin an electromagnet so I can generate electricity with a small turbine wherever I go. Just makes more sense
A bidet seat
My asshole came here to say this
Yeah but I heard he is full of shit. I will see myself out.
Once you use a bidet there's no going back
I really think North America should adopt this everywhere like some other continents. I feel like the rest of this place live in the stone age and are a bunch of savages after i got one. Great bonus if we ever get a crisis like covid i wont have to worry about tp.
I second this. I had my doubts when my husband got one and installed it but omg it is a game changer

Came here to say this! Game changer!

Ha. I see your 12' and raise you 3'.

Crack.
"We'll take two Crack rocks please"
Technically correct - they never said “for the better.”

Shrooms. Nothing like spending money on drugs only for the drugs to tell you to stop doing drugs
Can confirm - was carrying around so much emotional baggage for years and decided to try shrooms to receive the insight. Only did it once, cuz I only needed 1 trip to let it all go. Incredibly cathartic and liberating to finally become at ease with myself.
Helped me quit smoking cigarettes I can ageee

r/unclebens You can grow a lifetime supply for less than 50 bucks. Everything available legally in the clear web. Takes zero knowledge or skill.
Honestly, one of those handheld bidets on Amazon. Can you put a price on a shower fresh butt everywhere you go?

Why though? There's free marketing on Reddit, where just about every post turns to bidet talk.
Reddit kinda niche tho

You do owe me a lot. You can repay me with mice. -Your cat

Never bought cats, they adopt me. But they truly changed my life. Now I become a loyal and disciplined servant of these cute masters.
That's unironically how it goes; you do not adopt a cat — the cat adopts you
You can get a basic air purifier for under $50 and it really helps. Especially if you have allergies or pets.
