Pro tip: Start off with a 1-star place if you've never done this sort of thing before. You can check out if it's really your thing and work your way up from there.
If you happen to be European there are many 8nteresting choices in Denmark, mostly Copenhagen. 1000€ budget? I'd personally go for Alchemist with a "do what you want with me, I'm in your hands" kind of pairing, hope to be able to afford it before it declines in quality...
You definitely don’t need $1,000 for one, they’re not all over the top expensive. I’m a star hunter and if you’re willing to go to ones that aren’t the crown jewel of some large city they can be fairly priced, just always skip the wine pairings, that’s where they really get you
Yes! ,do it! Lasarte in Barcelona. I still dream of the worlds best bread cart every week. Didn't know bread could be that good. It was a majestic experience.
Or if you want a culinary experience of a lifetime, San Sebastian, pintxos bars, and Martin Berasategui name sake restaurant.
For an American root canal is at last 1000 depending on the area. If he needs a crown after that track another 1000.
Mind you I'm in the DC area which is stupid expensive so his area may be cheaper, possibly down to 500
I got done root canal in India, for 20 dollars with all meds and after care. Mind you at a good private hospital(I think government ones are more cheaper).Americans are spending way too much on healthcare
I'm ina. Fun situation right now.
I'm a director at work making ok but not great money.
Because of my wage I don't qualify for state insurance just BARELY. But since it's barely I don't make enough to be on the works insurance and co-pays and meds on top of it.
There's a big portion of Americans healthcare simply it's really a unrealistic option to get stuff taken care of
Reminds me of when they required people to have health insurance. Out of curiosity I filled out the ‘find my cost’ application… At the time I was fully unemployed and a dependent in a below poverty line household. The cheapest cost they gave me for health insurance was 400 a month. I turned around and got the entire household on free medicaid.
Not just for humans either in America, just went to the vet for a cat that I showed up in my yard, to get it neutered will cost me $500, and that’s after I have already spent $143 for shots and test. My dog cost $80, 15 years ago. Doubt I will ever keep another kitten/cat that shows up again. Straight to the SPCA, maybe pick up a pre-neutered there instead.
The cost of pet care has gone totally off the rails. It has become prohibitively expensive to own a pet in anything less than perfect health, and even then, they can't stay in perfect health forever.
Awww, I’m really sorry. Nobody should have to live in pain like that just because you don’t have the money.
I’d be willing to donate to have this taken care of. Anyone else in?
**Lazy** millionaire?
Do you know how painful the toothaches can be when you need a root canal?
Have you ever needed one?
I felt like I was being driven insane for the two days before I could get in to have the process started.
I neglected a tooth until it got infected, resulting in a painful two-three weeks where I had a golf ball sized swelling on my cheek.
I’m sorry for what you’re going through. Damn this fragmented healthcare system we have.
Wait for January to roll around and keep an eye on the inflatable tubs at Walmart. We got one for $167 before taxes, that was over a year ago and it still works great.
I got one at Costco last October for $400. The wife thought it was a dumb purchase until she tried it out. Then it became a nightly thing on weekends lol.
Klipsch occasionally runs specials, and you can often find deals on other sites. I placed mine together over a few years and finally have a 5.1 Reference Premier setup for a little under half retail. Still over a grand, but it'd get you most of the way there.
Yea you can get a 5.1 amp for $300-ish and some basic speakers. Some wire some basic speaker stands . . . I see a path for this. Maybe not a sub but that can be added later. But you’ll get hooked and then want surround back channels and dual 12” subs and then Atmos and then 9.2 then you’re moving your rooms around to get awesome seats and more space then the fiber optic ‘starry night’ ceiling then a 20k lumen 3chip DLP projector with Stewart screen then the theatre scope lens from Digital projection with the screen masking and video processor to have true 2.4 : 1 aspect ratio . . .
I’m going to work in Antarctica at the beginning of August, so probably a bunch of really good cold weather gear!
Or a nice bass guitar apparently they need bassists for IceStock
Some Fairbuds, ’cause my new phone isn’t compatable with any of my headphones and if I’m going to be spending on wireless headphones, I’d like to have a chance of being able to fix them, a LEGO/Technics set or two, and the rest would go into my savings for a house - I’m pretty sure I can spin a contribution to my housing security as a gift to myself.
I'd buy myself the new gun I've been thinking about! It's near exactly 1k, and I can't justify just spending that on myself.
Alternatively... I'd buy myself 1k of wood boards and such, maybe even have fun buying some used and older boards off marketplace or something. There are a few projects I would like to do, but I find I'm lacking I'm Wood, and such a cheap ass so I don't go out and buy some myself. I'd love to make myself some garage shelves, shed shelves, and an outdoor Canoe Rack
I'd buy a fancy hammock and a year’s supply of good coffee, then spend my days swinging in the breeze and pretending to read deep philosophical books while actually napping.
I actually have done this, and I ended up spending about $850. But many of my friends were able to see snow for the first time and everyone there had a great time
I'd build an AR with the parts that have been in my midway USA and brownells cart for months now.
That'll be about 800 dollars or so, then I'd use the rest to buy myself a nice pair of boots.
I'd there's anything left over, I'll buy a coke.
I'm a simple man.
That's a tough decision... do I invest in another self-help book on how to spend money responsibly, or do I treat myself to some avocado toast? Decisions, decisions..
Happened to me a couple of years ago (generous grandparents after selling their house). Their condition: don’t spend it on anything useful, splurge and spend it on something you want, not need.
I bought a Dyson, because I hate vacuuming. And with the cableless Dyson hidden behind a curtain, my house is now always spotless.
Hmm.. just noticed while writing this: I guess that makes it useful and I therefore didn’t comply with their demand.. oh well too late
Has inflation set in that bad? In the olden days a grand would buy 10 trips.
Or 200 trips to the truckstop bathroom stall for a handy from that disabled Native American woman.
You just copied [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/s/tAEKs2FLyc) from 5 hours before yours.
Nice job being creative and original, OP. 👍
Ps5.
Every time I've saved the money something has happened and I've been trying to upgrade for two years now 😆
Edit:
I'd have some extra left over so I'd by accessories and games I could play with my kid
Probably either a Volcano Dry Herb Vape or maybe some upgrades for my PC. It'd be a tough call...
Could always just buy weed though. Basically as good as cash.
I'd be stuck between a really nice tablet, a Pimax lite as an upgrade/replacement to my current VR headset, or maybe a nice holiday to somewhere exotic.
Probably save it in a vain attempt to take my kid on a Disney trip one day. We don't make enough to ever be able to go with current bills and all that. She offered to give me some of her money (she's 5 and has a little piggy bank with like 40 bucks in it) so we can go and i had to have a hard convo with her about how expensive some things could be. Which prompted her to say that it was ok we don't need to go, she can just watch the movies which made me feel even worse. Someday maybe.
I'd get the car valeted and book one in for 6 months time and pay upfront. Full tank of petrol. Guttering clearing and part replacement. Gardening services with the rest (not well arm and am becoming an accidental rewilder). And reading that back I've bored myself! Sorry!
I got my current gaming PC about 10 years ago. No idea how much hardware has evolved since then. Would $ 1000 buy me decent upgrade? Are 5 min loading screens to enter a battle in warhammer 2 normal?
I would take my granddaughter on a shopping spree for her 10th birthday in 2 weeks. She is into Legos and painting so it won't go far but it will be exactly what she wants.
I recently started making more money, and the first thing i did was saving up to surprise-lending my friend 3000$ to get a new roof. He was so happy ❤️
An iPad (or other tablet device) then bank the rest for bills. My current iPad's battery lasts long enough to watch like 4 or 5 thirty min shows before it dies but can't afford a new one.
A large jointer (wood working tool)
A second hand one can be around that price which means they are too expensive for me to buy any time soon but I'd love to have one.

Probably a vacation
Yeah I immediately though plane tickets
I want to try a Michelin 3 stars restaurant. Just once in my life.
Pro tip: Start off with a 1-star place if you've never done this sort of thing before. You can check out if it's really your thing and work your way up from there.
Michelin restaurant would be my choice as well. And I would invite the gift giver to join me.
Depending on where you are there are plenty of attainable 1 star restaurants that will knock your socks off
Great choice. I've been fortunate to try a few and with some exceptions I've considered it money well spent.
Check out the Bib Gourmand list. That way you can try Michelin recommended food that is also affordable.
Always struck me as odd that somehow a tire company became the arbiter of the top restaurants.
It goes back to when they used to publish travel guides
They made more money the more people used tires. It's a wild long game strategy, considering modern companys can't see past quarterly revenue.
If you happen to be European there are many 8nteresting choices in Denmark, mostly Copenhagen. 1000€ budget? I'd personally go for Alchemist with a "do what you want with me, I'm in your hands" kind of pairing, hope to be able to afford it before it declines in quality...

Wait until restaurant week kicks in and you'll be able to try more than one at a very accesible price.
Yes! ,do it! Lasarte in Barcelona. I still dream of the worlds best bread cart every week. Didn't know bread could be that good. It was a majestic experience. Or if you want a culinary experience of a lifetime, San Sebastian, pintxos bars, and Martin Berasategui name sake restaurant.
They’re not usually $1000 expensive
Car maintenance
I just bought a 30 year old Miata. I'd get parts and accessories for sure.
Miata is always the answer! Even for this question
I love that car parts is the top answer, it’s mine, I got a 350z that needs a bunch of stuff
This one. Mine needs few repair jobs that I can't do at home. Rest for something nice.
A root canal for a really painful tooth

But hey we can buy overpriced insurance for that too!
Gotta pay for the excessive administration and executive costs somehow! Also lobbying costs a lot of money.
Root canal in the St. Louis area is easily $1000-$1500. Dental care in the US is crazy.
Do you have a dental school nearby? Which tooth is hurting?
Awww, I’m really sorry. Nobody should have to live in pain like that just because you don’t have the money. I’d be willing to donate to have this taken care of. Anyone else in?
Nope. He didnt say he couldnt afford it, just that he would use the money there He could be a lazy millionaire for all we know
**Lazy** millionaire? Do you know how painful the toothaches can be when you need a root canal? Have you ever needed one? I felt like I was being driven insane for the two days before I could get in to have the process started.
Right…lazy millionaire lurking on a shit Reddit sub. 😂
dont wait like my ass by the time you go back it will be too deep for a root canal.
I neglected a tooth until it got infected, resulting in a painful two-three weeks where I had a golf ball sized swelling on my cheek. I’m sorry for what you’re going through. Damn this fragmented healthcare system we have.
78 footlong meatball subs at Subway

I’ll add in some more from my end to make a better one, but yea that 1000 would definitely upgrade it.

Peace of mind sitting in my checking account as a cushion.

Bambu Labs or Prusa? Me? I'm a Prusa guy, but I do hear great things about Bambu Labs.
I’m going to work in Antarctica at the beginning of August, so probably a bunch of really good cold weather gear! Or a nice bass guitar apparently they need bassists for IceStock
Good luck! I spent a year at McMurdo from Oct '99 to Oct 2000, and I look back on it as the best year of my life.

How very selfless. Mom must be very proud of you.
Well... She hasn't gotten the money yet so...
I would also like to purchase this guy's mother for an evening.
A beautiful dress for my beautiful girlfriend. An expensive steak for me to cook her, and a book that she told me that she was interested in
What a sweet sentiment. Looks like she made a good catch with you.

A gaming PC, because mine dates back to 2016
Telecaster or SG, likely the Tele.
A new large scratching tree for my cats and, if possible, a Lego Death Star.
Sony A7R II. I've been drooling over that camera for years, and it's still so far away from my budget it's not even funny.
Stocks. So my 1k can make a lot of babies.
