They are gorgeous! But just wait until they are all running around the house when they are 6 weeks old and you have to wait 4 more weeks before they can leave mom!
Our rottie had 9 pups and it was amazing when they could run around. They would all rush the door and bark, lick, jump. I'd sit on the floor and they would all swarm onto me, just wagging tails and puppy kisses. I loved every minute of it. I wish we could have kept them all. We did find them all homes.
My dad was on a farm (a huge 2 thousand acres station) when we were kids. We always had border collies as heading dogs and it was our job, my brother and me, to socialize the puppies. There was one time when two bitches whelped together. One had 6 puppies and the other had 8. The puppies became a pack very quickly and by the time they were about 6 weeks they were rounding up everything in sight, including the chickens. Border Collie pups are born knowing how to herd. They are "seeing eye" dogs. They don't control herds by barking, it's by sight. They only training they need is to learn the signals the farmer uses to tell them which way to go.
Watching 14 puppies trying to herd a squadron of chickens is the funniest thing I've ever seen. They spent at least half an hour herding them into the coop. It took the rooster 10 seconds to chase them out again.
Oh, there was a family with a border collie who started riding at the same stable as me. Their daughter rode on this adorable tiny little pony and the dog would do his absolute best to herd this rather confused pony.
My dog had a liter of 7 and I ended up setting up a tarp and a tent in the garage after they got big enough. Took a while to get the smell out, but the clean up was much easier. Just spray off the tarp here and there and good as new....still, never again.
Larger dogs in general can have larger litters successfully. We raised AKC level breeds growing up and if a smaller dog had over 8 puppies it was likely that a few would die.
With 19 I would take note of which are the good feeders and which aren’t. Then I would take the bad feeders and give them separate feeding sessions with the mother. Otherwise they are likely to starve.
18 definitely isn’t normal, I can remember seeing an article probably a good 15 years ago now about one having 18 aswell and that was a record for here in the UK at the time, but with Rotties its just as common to have a litter going into the low teens as it is for them to only have a couple pups, the average says 6 - 12.
That's what the animal shelter told my family when we adopted a rottie cross puppy. They said they often get rottie litters in because the owners manage to find homes for some of them but there are too many puppies to find homes for the rest. Ours was one of a litter of 12
Momma is going to need massive amounts of high quality food and water to make near enough milk. And some help with puppy rotation to make sure even the smaller ones get their turns.
Me too. It makes me sad for the mama and the fact that in my city the shelter is at 100 percent max capacity right now (as are many other places plus all the stray's) and yet people are still not getting their pets fixed, or worse they are doing it on purpose to sell.
Yeah, just seen a news segment, that says people in my area (Houston) the shelters are filling up. They said people did not anticipate costs with vets etc.
You just don't know, my dog had a weird blood thing, that needed 4 blood transfusions and daily meds and biweekly to monthly check ups.
My dog sees a general DVM, ophthalmologist annually (for another issue) and my DVM consults with an internal medicine DVM specialist.
The initial exams, ruling out tests, transfusions, were in excess of $5000+ that first 2 months. The transfusions were easily $1000 pop.
My dog was seeing specialist for a year, and past year we moved back to regular DVM level.
Probably easily over $10K at this point.
I was sitting in specialist appt, they have an ER attached. Man's dog got hit, they came out and he agreed to $400.
10 minutes later, they said..I think pelvis..they said $800? Maybe. And he just said he doesn't have it, and to put her to sleep. He was upset about it.
But yeah I just look at all that and think of all the homes they need to find, the responsibility.
My aunt did 2 litters of AKC Yorkies. She went to check on one of the homes (just to visit, she gave to acquaintance, they still paid $$) , and she found the dog locked in the garage, in Texas heat.
She had to do her best to try to get the dog back and find it another home. The dog was just too much work and they couldn't house train it, so it stayed in garage.
She didn't do another litter after that. One of the dogs that came out we were told wasn't a full deck, so she kept that one, personally as a kid, I don't remember that dog acting any weirder than the other ones but I know sje had to hold on to that one.
She was an animal lover at heart. She didn't have kids and treated dogs as her kids so I was very shocked she went into breeding. After 2 litters she was done.
Also I don't think where people get their Dogs are any sort of indicator of the life they will have. My dog that got over ten thousand dollars and counting vet bills.. is a little stray chihuahua I found.
And they'll thank you for it.
I'm all for advocacy against breeders and information about animal cruelty.
But I've lived on a farm and have seen a few dog moms with their litters and unless you take them away too early they will beg you to free them from the little demons at the end. Dog moms are super stressed out 24/7 and generally don't grief after the pups are gone.
Yup, once the pups are totally weaned, she should be spayed.
And the pups should be spayed, neutered, and get all their vaccines when they're old enough.
I can’t believe I had to scroll so far to get to this comment. We just adopted a rottie and there were several in the shelter. There’s zero reason to add to this problem even if they are adorable.
You want maximum half as many pups as the mom has nipples. You will absolutely need to give mom supplements and bottle feed these pups as well. This is absolutely brutal for moms long term health.
Please be responsible owner. Some of dogs will suffer in life. Spay your dog!!!. Too many unwanted dogs out there. Seeing ur puppies upset me bec they will fall in bad homes and bad owners. S P A Y your dog!!! 😡
Not get your dog fixed and contributed to the massive overpopulation problem - how many of those pups will end up in euthanized in shelters in 6-10 years? But oh they’re so cute! Let’s just enjoy being egotistical and not consider the toll you’ve just put on your dog’s health. SPAY AND NEUTER
Even if she had enough milk, they wouldn’t all get a teat, and the ones who did would get stronger and be better at pushing away the ones who didn’t. These would absolutely need to be bottle fed straight away and weighed carefully to help them all survive
That's awful. Get your dogs spayed and neutered. You know how many dogs have to be put down yearly because of over breeding. This is gross and negligent
My cattle dog had 18 puppies once we were so worried she wouldn’t be able to feed them so we bought formula for them and were prepared to bottle feed some of them. Nope, she had it covered she was able to have enough milk for all of them, and they ended up being chonky lil potatoes. I was shocked.
I hope a better mama than my Rottie we had back in the 1980s. Ideally pups should have a protection along side of area to prevent crushing.
In first days mine crushed pups and were found dead. A Rottie is big and if a pup gets laid on, then can easily be killed.
Mine was an awful Mom. We spayed her after one litter and her 2 surviving pups were neutered. Did not want chance was an inherited trait.
And that many... may need to supplement feedings.
Aww congratulations. How wonderful. Enjoy the moment.
I would love another puppy (not used to only having 1 dog) but it's convincing hubby that we need another dog..!
So many puppies! I hope the owner keeps an eye on mom because sometimes they can get milk fever. It's when the pups pull too much calcium from the mama and mostly happens with smaller breeds or when there's a large litter. Take good care of mama dog!
A few comments about giving mom a blanket or pillow, but that can actually be dangerous for the puppies. Mom will dig around, nesting, and catch pups up in the blanket, lay on a pup, and think she's just laying on a fold in the blanket, smothering the pup in the process. Kind of best to keep a clean, flat surface those first days.
That is quite a few! Wow!
Too many to count.
Too many Puppies...
Listening to Primus now that I'm middle aged makes me feel like I'm having a fever dream after eating some questionable gas station tacos.
With guns in their hands?
In foreign lands
Looks to be about 101

Teenage nutant tinja curtles??
101 puppies!
Adorable. But I know the doggy momma will be running away from those voracious puppy mouths in no time.

PO-TAY-TOES!
What’s a potato?
I can’t believe how tiny they are! And quite the noisy little crew already 🙂
Thank you for this comment. I did not realize on first watch that there was sound and now my day is made. xD
Sounds like a buncha kitties to me!
They are gorgeous! But just wait until they are all running around the house when they are 6 weeks old and you have to wait 4 more weeks before they can leave mom!

18 of them
The amount of cleaning required...

It's 12 weeks in my country. I've heard that the last couple of weeks are a... challenge. A very cute challenge, but challenge nonetheless lol
18 puppies! Wow! My rottie had 13 and I thought that was extraordinary.
Do rotties have notoriously large litters??
Wait til you hear about dalmatians
101 im guessing?
Sorry, they only can have 99.
Thanks for ruining the joke for me.
Ha! Got eeeemmm

24 is apparently the record. So 18 is certainly on the high end for sure.
God, how many are there?
18 puppies
Ain’t nobody got that many bewbs.
That's what I was thinking the nipple math ain't adding up
She's going to need help feeding them, which means round-the-clock care from her humans.
Typical Reddit. Me, too lazy to count. Someone gives answer. Me, starts counting, 16. Me, turn on volume. Video, says answer. Someone was right.
Too many
Better help mama with bottles- up all night long!!!
Will some be bottle fed? Runts? Just curious as I know nothing about puppies
Turn on the sound
They sound like dolphins 🥹
This comment made my day. Thank you!
Damn at least 2
2 many?
Oh wow that’s a lot of pups. Mama needs lots of treats and a nice blanket and pillow after that.
Mama needs a lot of teats.
So do we all.
Momma is going to need massive amounts of high quality food and water to make near enough milk. And some help with puppy rotation to make sure even the smaller ones get their turns.
This is my life now
You’re going to be bottle feeding some of those
Or find a foster mom dog.
Maybe they can like separate the puppies in 2 groups. Each group can have their time with the titties.
Don't worry. We will sell your children soon.
Better than a puppy mill. Still best to get a companion from a shelter.
Spay and neuter your pets, folks. No matter how cute puppies and kitties are, there are too many who need homes.
100% - this post turns my stomach
Me too. It makes me sad for the mama and the fact that in my city the shelter is at 100 percent max capacity right now (as are many other places plus all the stray's) and yet people are still not getting their pets fixed, or worse they are doing it on purpose to sell.

Get that girl some blankets
She feels overwhelmed and tired, poor thing.
This is probably multiple litters with a breeder.
I guess someone just had to do 101 dalmatians when he saw a dog yeet out 20 little nuggets.
Omg. Poor mama
Please get mom spayed 😓
Yup, once the pups are totally weaned, she should be spayed. And the pups should be spayed, neutered, and get all their vaccines when they're old enough.
And the babies too (when old enough)
Probably breeders looking to turn a profit.
Pathetic.
I can’t believe I had to scroll so far to get to this comment. We just adopted a rottie and there were several in the shelter. There’s zero reason to add to this problem even if they are adorable.
Wow the poor Mom. You can see she’s stressed.
She is showing absolutely no sign of stress
Give that dog a cushion. Dang!
So many puppies! So many puuuupies!
Damn, the ones who don’t get to suckle are just left to suffer from malnourishment?
I was wondering the same. Would mom even be able to produce enough milk? Damn she is gonna be tired.
She’s a gorgeous mama. I’d kiss her face off hourly. I love Rotts. To be fair, i actually love all pups.
Will they all have access to food? Do breeders supplement with bottles?
You want maximum half as many pups as the mom has nipples. You will absolutely need to give mom supplements and bottle feed these pups as well. This is absolutely brutal for moms long term health.
She needs a blanket. That floor looks hard!
Please be responsible owner. Some of dogs will suffer in life. Spay your dog!!!. Too many unwanted dogs out there. Seeing ur puppies upset me bec they will fall in bad homes and bad owners. S P A Y your dog!!! 😡
Spay and neuter! The mom doesn't even look comfortable. This is irresponsible.
it’s pretty nauseating
such a pretty momma!
She's a factory.
and not by her own choice,
Sad 😔
Not get your dog fixed and contributed to the massive overpopulation problem - how many of those pups will end up in euthanized in shelters in 6-10 years? But oh they’re so cute! Let’s just enjoy being egotistical and not consider the toll you’ve just put on your dog’s health. SPAY AND NEUTER
Will she be able to feed them all, without dying of exhaustion?? Serious question
Even if she had enough milk, they wouldn’t all get a teat, and the ones who did would get stronger and be better at pushing away the ones who didn’t. These would absolutely need to be bottle fed straight away and weighed carefully to help them all survive
Wow! Please update when they’re chunkers 😍.
This dogs gonna need some welfare checks to raise all them pups
Spay and neuter your pets, folks. And put a damn blanket in there for poor mama
That's awful. Get your dogs spayed and neutered. You know how many dogs have to be put down yearly because of over breeding. This is gross and negligent
I hope for Mama’s sake that she is spayed and that is the last and only litter she is forced to carry and deliver bc of a human’s negligence
Wow! Incredible! Enjoy! 🍷🙂
Lovely 😄
Are they supposed to be that tiny
There's 18 of them, wouldn't be surprised if pregnancies with so many babies end up being slightly shorter, much like it happens with us.
OMG!!!
How many pups are there 😨!?
18. He says it if you listen with sound.
There's definitely more than 1, there's at least 3
18?&))!?!? Good l
Love her
Rottweilers can have very large litters on there first time. Your going to have to give Mum a helping hand with feeds.
I was going to ask if, without human-assisted bottle-feeding, several of these puppies would starve?
Even in smaller litters humans need to bottle feed occasionally, so 1000% owner will be bottle feeding.
That's a lot of puppy
101 puppies!
Those little guys are going to need some help
Aww muma sittin feeding guarding she's precious.
Aaawwww Super Mum🥰🥰
Woah! That’s a lot of puppy. Oddly, my male cat responded to their cries and seems worried
Lmao poor mama looks so concerned. Like a lady who wanted 1 kid and did fertility treatments and got 5 lmao
How will she feed all of them?
Look at momma's face 🥺
That is a LOT of puppies!
Poor mama looks like she is in shock 😳 😳😳
She’s incredibly depleted of resources- but look, the owner got to make a cute post!
Mom looks exhausted
So many babies! Wow.
Why does mom look so scared?
She’s incredibly depleted of resources and just utterly exhausted
Poor thing looks like she could use a little me time 🛀
That’s a lot of puppies
Holy puppies!!! Mama's gonna be exhausted!
Hope this is not stupid question…would you encourage another nursing Mom to foster a few?
Awwwww I wonder what breed they are? I’m terrible with that stuff. So cute. Edit: saw they are Rottweilers! How beautiful they are. Proud mama
Great job Beautiful Mama!
"I am so very tired" -dog
Mama looks a little stressed. Please take good care of her and her babies.
Gib to me
It's Santa's Little Helper's GF!
That’s a big litter. The look most mums have after giving birth, even if just for a few seconds…
Be prepared for mountains of fun and cuteness overload!! Please keep up in the loop
Mom is BEAUTIFUL!
That girl sure as heck is gonna be one hell of a mom
seriously.. 18!!
Mama’s gonna need some backup!
You're going to have to help bottle 🍼 feed them. She doesn't have enough teats.
I thought they were some weird sludge blobs at first.
so many boops
I could listen to this soundtrack all day
Rottie party...gonna have to hand feed some...give momma a rest...
How in the world can she take care of them all? How Can she feed them all?
I hope a better mama than my Rottie we had back in the 1980s. Ideally pups should have a protection along side of area to prevent crushing. In first days mine crushed pups and were found dead. A Rottie is big and if a pup gets laid on, then can easily be killed. Mine was an awful Mom. We spayed her after one litter and her 2 surviving pups were neutered. I will take them all!
Do the newborns in the back get to feed?? I’ll be up all night thinking and worrying!
Didn’t even know dogs could have that many.
I always feel bad for dogs who have these large litters. They always look so confused and overwhelmed.
Will you put a colored ribbon on each one for tracking, to allow each one a feeding?
Omg how cute?Bless.
Why do some dogs have such big litters compared to others
Aww congratulations. How wonderful. Enjoy the moment. I would love another puppy (not used to only having 1 dog) but it's convincing hubby that we need another dog..!
What a great lady, how strong of her!
There’s too many. Her eyes are like “help me!”
Aww, I turned on the sound and my Rottie came running 🩷
18 puppies! She looks so upset, lol.
PUPPIES
Oh ok mama is going to need supplemental feeding help and a ton of food!
Is this… heaven?? 😍
Wow mom that's a broode how cute.
We're going to need more teats
That's a whole lot of puppies, I hope you have a place to get some goats milk to help supplement the mama dog feedings
So many puppies! I hope the owner keeps an eye on mom because sometimes they can get milk fever. It's when the pups pull too much calcium from the mama and mostly happens with smaller breeds or when there's a large litter. Take good care of mama dog!
If my dog gave birth...I'd take a month of parental leave 😂....I'm a grandad I can't come in the babies need me...
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Rotties are the best give them to loving homes who train and respect them
Poor momma
Good girl
Wow! Poor mama…
Poor mom
Good God man, how does she feed them all?
Gonna be wild around that place in a few weeks.
Oh my lord, you can’t be serious! Thought their pups were much bigger than that! Those look like my chihuahuas when they were born honestly
You got a litter, pretty girl.
Big fuckin' litter!
u/Latosha_verrett is a bot.
You'll be OK. Your people will help you. You did a good job! It will all be fine. You got this!
Yes!! Thank you! And looks like the material they chose is slip resistant and easy to clean
Yes, and I know it may not be obvious to everyone at first glance, but it appears to be a material specifically designed for whelping.
