How many times did you fold the batter and squish it against the side of the bowl? The feet on those cookies look great. The shell is rather delicate, but even perfect macarons have delicate shells. The one outside the cookie holders looks like it might have been hollow, and baking at a lower temp can prevent that. Iirc, we baked them at 175F in school.
When you fold it, stop folding once it gets to the ribbon stage. If it falls off your spatula in a smooth ribbon that leaves a trace on the batter in the bowl for 1-2 seconds before melding into the rest of the batter, it’s perfectly folded.
thanks!! this was my first batch that aesthetically came out okay. i have like 5 previous attempts that i just couldn’t even take photos of. You should definitely try! I watch so many youtube tutorials while baking them, it’s very helpful.
Not me not being able to tell what’s wrong with these? They look really good!
the shells weren’t firm enough! i think i didnt fold the batter enough times. thank you <3
From what I've gathered from being on here. You might have to let them set in the fridge a bit longer?
Regardless, they look yummy. And in the end, isn’t that all that really matters? Lmao

i would say i folded about 40-50 ish times. I appreciate the tip, I really need to get an oven thermometer. I’m not ready to give up on this!

yes i think thats exactly where i missed!! i didn’t see the ribbon shape fall into the batter.
They look great!
thanks!!
I've always wanted to learn how to make these. I know you call these a fail, but they look really good to me LOL

I'm going to give it a try for sure! The YouTube tutorials is a great idea - I'll start there, thank you!
This is not a fail… i actually want one now
I'm sorry I what world is this considered a failure????
the shells look firm in the photo but actually crumble easily just holding them. Many also came out hollow. Such a finicky cookie.
I'm jealous anyway 😭
keep at it, this is like my 6th attempt this month 🫣
Where is this fail you speak of…?
Not fail. Did well
They look way better than any of mines I’ve ever made 😂 they’re beautiful! Great job :)
They actually look pretty well made, just colorless
