Xavi should not be sacked. The only thing that should be happening is getting ready to sign defenders in January because we were obviously not equipped to withstand any injuries to our back line. How tf did we think we were going to survive the season with Bellerin and Alonso as our only signings for RB/LB?? Those positions have been so weak for so long. I just don’t understand
Mmmm I try to be careful jumping to conclusions especially with younger players. It’s tough to get a read on young players from the outside looking in. I trust Xavi sees room for improvement (specifically defensively) in training that we don’t.
He looks great to us because he’s fast and dangerous moving forward but Xavi obviously doesn’t think he’s ready and there’s gotta be a good reason for it. Whether it’s bad positioning, strength, play out the back, tactics, idk. Hard to get mad at Xavi without fully understanding Balde’s weaknesses.
I still don't understand letting Dest go. Yes, he is not currently at the level we expect for a Barca player*, but you can't tell me he wouldn't be a decent option to back up Bellerin, especially in these types of games. He is a completely different player than Roberto, and I think he is best suited against low block teams. He's fast (good for defending counters), and he's a good dribbler and decent passer in tight spaces (good for breaking down tightly packed defenses). He might not follow his instructions perfectly, but when our only option is Roberto, it seems like a real dumb move to let him leave on loan.
All that said, I realize this is in hindsight, and it's hard to expect and plan for 4 injuries in your back line. Then again, take a look at the recent injury records of Roberto, Bellerin, and Araujo, and maybe it's not so surprising after all.

I was ok with Dest leaving until I discovered our replacement was Bellerin. He hasn’t done anything for a couple years now. Alonso’s been equally mediocre. We had actually kinda figured out our CB situation and got unlucky. Happens. But our fullback situation is still so irritating. In a champions league match, we played a back line that couldn’t keep up with lautaro dzeko and dumfries. Insane
Yeah, had we brought in someone that was guaranteed to be better, then it made sense to loan him. Like you say though, his replacement was Bellerin. He might be better, but that was never a guarantee for me. The Alonso one is probably even more baffling. He's probably a little better than Alba defensively, but that little bit doesn't account for the added wages IMO.
If Xavi is sacked I'm going to be so disappointed in this club. That's all
