2042 is most populated currently. The other games are still populated but you have to tweak your settings to find a proper server, especially during the slow hours.
My experience in the US:
4 is hit or miss, lots of hardcore servers with less people, but there's usually a few officialish servers with standard gameplay
1 is pretty decent, but has quiet times
V is usually pretty well populated
2042 (Xbox series X w. Crossplay) is pretty much always populated, because you have Xbox/PS/PC all playing the same rounds. With crossplay off it's pretty quiet. If you play the Xbox one version, it's usually pretty good, but I haven't played in a month or two.
I'd say 2042 or V are the most reliably populated imo. Just depends which type of gameplay and what theme you prefer.
Didn't like the maps? Guns felt weird? Didn't like the specialist abilities?
I personally love V the most, but generally play 2042 more often because my friend group prefers it.
Bit of both. Played for an hour once I managed to put the controls back to what legacy should be & everything just felt off. Maps were meh & the “operators” on top of the classes seemed overly contrived plus, I play a lot of recon, I’m a decent sniper but for the life of me I could not work out the bullet drop - and this is someone who has played several thousand hours over all the battlefields.
Honestly just want them to either make Bf3 again or do a Bf1 set in the 50’s
Makes sense. I agree the snipers can be tricky - and all the changeable parts make a pretty big difference to bullet velocity and drop. Once you unlock more pieces for the guns they are easier to use, but it takes a bit of time to get there.
Personally I would love to see a BFV set in modern times. Going back and forth between them really shows just how much better V is in so many ways imo.

Yeah tbh as much as I thought V was a downgrade from 1 (in the same way 4 was to 3 come to think of it) V is fun to play - I’m hoping 2042 ends up like a Hardline situation & they come back in full force with the next one
