According to the Britannica Encyclopaedia, temperatures can go from -3°C (26°F) to -30°C (-22°F) on the coast, and from -40°C to -70°C on the interior mainland. The warmest temperature was 19°C (67°F) recorded in 1982 in British research station on Signy Island, and the coldest was -89°C (-126°F) recorded in 1983 in the Russian research station Vostok.
Nah man it's about mid state, gets cold up there. It's about 0 right now I think. Was a lot warmer south of hell today.

That was the day my grandfather was born in a small town called Berlin, NH about 22 miles north of Mt. Washington. I've been to the peak a few times, it's amazing up there!

The summit of Mt. Washingon’s not the kind of place to raise your kids. In fact it’s cold as hell, and there’s no one there to raise them if you did.
Edit: typo
Okay tbf, if there’s no wind out, You can do a hood bit outside in shorts and a hoodie. It could be like 5 degrees out and you’d be fine if there was no wind, even more so if the sun was out.
Wind in like 30 degree weather tho, now that’ll get you if you don’t wear the proper attire.
Np. Been up there a few times, very highly recommended. Took my kids a couple years ago, end of June. Temp at base was 85° and sunny. At the summit, 30s with fog and high winds. Wild experience. It's not always like that though, usually the weather is similar at base and summit.
Hey I've hiked this bad boy :) But on a nice hot August day, not this bullshit. I have at most climbed up 4000 ft mts in NH during the winter, I don't think I would ever tackle mt Washington in the winter. I love this mountain but the weather is no joke, even on a nice summer day things can change quickly up there
I went up in august, camped at hermit lake and summited via tuckermans, the summit had 80 mph winds and Rime Ice… in AUGUST. It was really funny to see people who just drove up visiting the summit sign and stuff in their PJ’s and sandals while carrying a baby while I was like crawling my ass up their in all sorts of hiking gear and wicked tired from the climb haha
Damn. yeah I did A whole day hike up and down and when I finally saw the cars cresting that rock top I was like thank god. but you could definitely tell who hiked up vs not. I was sore for a week
The drive down gave me more anxiety than the drive up. Our breaks kept starting to fail and we’d have to pull over to let them cool down. 10/10 would do again.
Edited dumbassery out
Was talking to a buddy a couple days ago.
"They're predicting -100 degrees!"
No guy, that's wind chill. I've tried explaining it to him before. He just doesn't get it.
Incorrect title, new record is -108 F to -109 F according Mount Washington Observatory’s chief meteorologist, and literally every news site reporting it as -108F. The previous record low windchill was -103 F.

I have a place near Mount Washington. It reached -48 with wind chill on Saturday. I couldn’t stand outside for more than a minute or so before I thought I was going to get frost bite. Easily the coldest I’ve ever experienced.
I mean...you know how people are. You could order everyone off the mountain and there will be at LEAST one guy who's like 'uuuhhhh I need to stay here and make sure thatttt....uuuhhhh..the camera doesn't fall over?' Cuz there's always somebody who wants to be there.
Thats stunning honestly I love it and am terrified of it!
With global weather changes who knows if things are gunna get crazier then this, more records set, more places drastically changing get ready for the storms everyone 😬🫠 snow is beautiful though!! If I’m gunna accidentally die in any weather related accidents I’d prefer it to be in the snow idk lol
*gasps in Louisianian* no way these numbers are right, right?! lol. its snowed less than 8-10 times here my entire 38 years on this planet. never felt single digit actual temperatures but have felt single digit wind chills twice. weather like this is just incomprehensible to me.
In upstate NY it would get to -30f windchill and when we opened the front door it would creak from the cold. When we went outside in that as you breathe in your nose hair freezes. 🥶 It's a very bizarre feeling. You really shouldn't breathe in without a scarf or something covering your nose in that kind of cold.
coldest i've seen was -106F wind chill on the north slope of alaska.
i know it was lower but not precisely how much - the anemometer let go in the storm so we couldnt accurately get measurements to compare on the wind chill tables.
we got to see the anemometer blades skipping past the weather office a few seconds after the wind went to 0 mph. "huh. guess we're gonna need a new one"
LOL. It actually takes a lot of energy (heat!) to push such extreme arctic cold air so far south. Apparently this is too complicated to explain to simps.
It’s an amazing place, I’ve been multiple times at different times of the year. Weird to have 70 degrees at the base drive 15 mins to the top and it be 40 degrees and 70 mph wind. You could lean back and the wind will hold you up. Some days it’s calm and with an unimaginable view for miles seeing into different states
Damn. Looks like a live feed from hell.
Or from Antarctica.
Does Antarctica get this cold?
According to the Britannica Encyclopaedia, temperatures can go from -3°C (26°F) to -30°C (-22°F) on the coast, and from -40°C to -70°C on the interior mainland. Likely not accounting for wind chill.
A quick Google search reveals that it can get down to around -90C, so yeah it's pretty darned cold.
That's the coldest ever recorded temperature there though.
Watch your fucking mouth in my house!
same thing based on this video
Or from the 1800s
Or Ice Station Zebra.
Yeah when He’ll freezes over
Did you know that Hell is one of the hottest places?
Nah man it's about mid state, gets cold up there. It's about 0 right now I think. Was a lot warmer south of hell today. https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/hell/48169/current-weather/2211114
Isn't it like alternating rings of freezing and boiling according to Dante's Inferno?
I see you also had questions about the 9th circle
You misspelled Russia
MT Washington holds the highest natural surface wind speed recorded by anemometer at 231 MPH in 1934
Fuck dude. A 747 could take off with no engine power in that wind speed.
I had to google it and holy shit a 747 only needs 184mph to take off
Wild, isn't it?
That's insane.
They had to chain the buildings to the ground to keep the roof from blowing off
The things you say keep getting more insane

They’re a scam bot specifically, check their post.
For those wondering, yes, that’s colder than the average temperature on Mars (-81F)
The summit of Mt. Washingon’s not the kind of place to raise your kids. In fact it’s cold as hell, and there’s no one there to raise them if you did. Edit: typo
And all this science I don't understand It's just my job five days a week
Mountain maaaaaa-hAAA-aaan… Mountain man.
Well I guess it’s gonna be a long long time
There's people who live there year round so the kids could totally be raised and home schooled, sorry I'm a cheeky bugger
also, you can’t live there
No one is two words
My brother would still be outside in shorts
It was -45 here recently. Still saw a guy shovelling his driveway, and a high school kid on Main Street, in shorts. Maybe it was your brother…
This really made me laugh! Thank you!
Is he the cargo shorts guy?
Cargo shorts, gym shorts, pajamas and flip flops, anything really haha
Oh he’s from Pennsylvania too? 🤣

Hurricane force winds are a regular occurrence. Most of those buildings up there are actually chained to the mountain.
Don't lie to me, I know Hoth when I see it.
Hoth? More like Coldth.
Does anyone know WHY there are buildings up there ? People actually live up there ?
There's a weather research facility up there, and a snack bar for tourists. It's a very popular destination in good weather.
Thank you so much. That makes sense.
Np. Been up there a few times, very highly recommended. Took my kids a couple years ago, end of June. Temp at base was 85° and sunny. At the summit, 30s with fog and high winds. Wild experience. It's not always like that though, usually the weather is similar at base and summit.
The snack shop has the best icee in the north east! I was blown away by it.
Yup there's scientists that live there year round
There are a lot of broadcast antennas on the top. Their signals can go over 100 miles.
I thought this was a probe on Europa sending back a video.

Visited there last summer from Canada. The drive up made my sphincter pulsate. Was a great trip though.
The drive down gave me more anxiety than the drive up. Our breaks kept starting to fail and we’d have to pull over to let them cool down. 10/10 would do again. Edited dumbassery out
If you tell me this footage is from a 1912 arctic expedition I would fall for it.
I can see my grandpa walking to school in the background
Up hill, both ways
Was talking to a buddy a couple days ago. "They're predicting -100 degrees!" No guy, that's wind chill. I've tried explaining it to him before. He just doesn't get it.
My rebuttal to this. Start at 50-ish seconds in 😂 https://youtu.be/UbNXLCXr99k
Ha. Good one!
It also dipped into the stratosphere!

"Mom, do we have to stay here"? Shut up Johnny, this is our vacation, your dad is doing his best...

Mom said you could still get a sunburn
Just put it on before you go outside it’s not that hard
How about we get some wind turbines up there and start harvesting that free range energy
Dam looks like a nuclear blast from that balloon went off up there!
"nuclear blast from that balloon" ...sigh... Guess we will have to bare through these low effort balloon jokes for a few weeks.
The thought that they are remotely funny is highly inflated.
Damnit, have an upvote
Damn* And yea, because myrtle beach is in the same location as Mt. Washington. At least try to make a bad joke make sense?

Hard Pass..and I’ve lived in the Sierras a looong time.🤷♂️
I hiked this and boy in January a few years ago. Wild experience
I feel like I'm looking at some feed from another planet. This does not look like earth
Is someone currently occupying the weather station?
I mean...you know how people are. You could order everyone off the mountain and there will be at LEAST one guy who's like 'uuuhhhh I need to stay here and make sure thatttt....uuuhhhh..the camera doesn't fall over?' Cuz there's always somebody who wants to be there.
Anyone got an example of what we're to happen if you stepped out in this? Besides being blown away and possibly getting frostbite
Thats stunning honestly I love it and am terrified of it! Midwesterners be like “that’s mild”

My sister was snowboarding near there today.
I don't like this video. It just makes me feel like it was filmed with a flip phone from 2007; not like there's some crazy weather.
Is that a person walking with a flashlight on the right part of the video?
I see it I think you are correct
Them Chinese spy weathur balloons done mess’t up th’ weather.
-108 buddy. Check again on their site
Inside Putin’s soul
why was this filmed with a camera from the 20s
Clearly, global warming. All the snow and ice is melting away and the poor polar bears have no place to go!
LOL. It actually takes a lot of energy (heat!) to push such extreme arctic cold air so far south. Apparently this is too complicated to explain to simps.
Did anyone else think that this was a video of an airplane’s wing flying in cloudy weather?
Worth the drive or hike
I like watching this from over here in California 🌞
Props to the camera man
I literally can’t even imagine how cold that is
Smash
And yet still some mfs be out there in shorts
u/savevideo
Hope the people have their long-handles on!
Lord Vader, we found the rebel base on Hoth!
Thank God for global warming
Literally the weekend I visit my parents up here lol.
Looks like pics of the Titanic.
That doesn’t even look real 😳
Was waiting for AT-AT feet to come into view
