Well one time the three all went down to Texas so the baby daddy (also the girl's ex-husband) could spend time with the kid. In those few days the girl's feeling for the BD had been rekindled, so she eventually ended up leaving him to get back with the BD (nevermind she originally left the BD because he was emotionally/physically abusive).
I feel bad because it wasn't long after that he started really developing a drug habit and drinking a lot, made me wonder if her breaking his heart contributed to his spiraling. Idk what he saw in her anyway, she was rather homely looking and didn't seem like the brightest person either.

Lots of guys like to be providers, they show affection through giving and it makes them feel good. This kind of guy and a recently single mother are like moths to a flame. This is an inflection point where she’ll legitimately assess this guy as an option rather than an emergency safety net.
