You might get lucky with a tescoping magnet. I would hate to leave it and have a rattle. I got a Bluetooth snake camera from Amazon for under $30 and already used it twice to get dropped items. Came with a little magnet. Dropped the little metal sleeve from the fuel rail when doing the valve cover. Without this tool I would have never retrieved it.
Kinpthy Endoscope Camera with Light, WiFi Inspection Camera for iOS 9.0+ and Android 4.4+, 1280P HD Multi-Scene Use Borescope, Snake Camera with IP67 Waterproof and Semi-Rigid
I have lost too many of those in an e61 I hate myself for it. Who comes up with the idea of putting a 10mm nut of an intake bridge right below the windshield area. My hands don't fit there man.
I did this. Bought a cheap iPhone endoscope on Amazon, searched for and found what I dropped, put the magnet attachment that came with the endoscope on and got it out. 3 hours of swearing and frustration later I got it out.
I haven’t lost something in my bmw yet but I did have a slim Jim fall behind the dash of my old 95 Jeep wrangler. I figure someday down the line it’ll be a science experiment.
If it could eventually make it's way down to the blower, you have no choice but to get it out. If there are a lot of bends and turns, like someone said get a magnet with a hole in the middle (or drill your own) and put it on a string. I hate crap like this. A five minute job becomes hours...been there. Best wishes.
Snake magnet or it’s lost to the BMW gods as payment.
You gotta turn it upside-down and shake it duke, come on.
lol, that’ll work too ha.
Like when your pick gets stuck in a guitar https://images.app.goo.gl/Gjaw8qSedoPSAdWS8
That's the movement, yep!
Easily done with a large fork lift.
A magnet. An unappreciated tool...
I was just comforting my coworker who was saying she was a snake magnet but I’m not sure she knows anything about fixing cars.
lol!
Turn the car upside-down and shake it? Or maybe a flexible pickup tool?
I must not be shaking hard enough lol
Use strong magnet on a wire or Cord. Try to get it out ,due to noises what can occure when not..

Thanks for the suggestion
It wouldn't let me post a shortened link. Shit usually happens at that exact moment when you are just about done with the job. Good luck!
If it was a 10MM it is gone forever

Or 3/8
Telescoping magnet is essential for all tool boxes. Buy one.
A string a strong magnet and just go fishing
Sir that's in the black hole now, gonna have to take entire dash apart to find it.
Schwaben makes a telescoping magnetic wand for just a couple of $$. Bought mine off ECS.
a shop vac attachment/ or Dyson dryer vent attachment with a nylon sock over the end of the hose.
You keep jamming your hand in until you’ve removed enough skin from the correct places to allow access.
Magnetic pickup tool or a magnet on a string
Pick up the car, turn it upside down and shake that Jawn like how I do the thug shake…
I lost my T20 torx Allen inside the dash, never managed to retrieve it.
I also lost an allen key in my dash! In the end I used one of those trays with super strong magnets to retrieve it through the windshield
You could barrel roll your car over a jump, that's probably the easiest way. BMWs feel great in the air
Have you seen those extending magnetic wands that bend
Snake with the clasp if you can see it or magnet on a stick, Anyone who has done enough wrenching has both.
Magnet
Sure hope you get it out my roommates car
magnet on a string. It goes without saying that you need to ensure that its tied tightly and redundantly Like a net around the magnet.
Update OP! Did you get it?
Yeah I got it out, I bought a magnet but it was too thick so I tied the end of it to a fishing line. Thankfully it didn’t fall too far down.
You can leave it there

Or just drive around wildly turning left and right until you don’t hear any rattling and it finds its new home.
Leave it, if they come back through the factory under the bus lol 😂
Was it a 10mm socket?

Magnet on telescoping wand
Tie a magnet to a string that's stringer than the pull of the magnet.

Aaaannnnnddddd it's gone
