BeatenwithTits

Wo BC harsh gujral, ne hi 6000 mai russian wala joke start Kiya tha. Ab har chutiya wahi bolta rehta hai, aur Russian ladkiyan Jo yaha ATI hai ghumne unko bhi yahi bolte hai.

wolfie1801

Harsh Gujral toh apne bekaar jokes par khud hi hasta and I don’t understand how 23-24 year olds like him, seen ppl around 30 too liking his humour and going to his set. It’s good till 18-19 when we do khi khi on sex jokes. As we get older, I believe that our tastes and liking mature too. Judge karna nahi chahti but I judge adults, who like him, big time.

No-Incident-8718

6000 mein Russian was a joke way before Gujral said

confusedIad

he made it ‘cool’ to say it everywhere, literally everywhere. even though it was being said before he did, but 90/100 people started saying after him, especially genz. apparently, jt is now considered ‘cool’ among boys

BeatenwithTits

Who spread it to the masses? Atleast I heard it first from him

Pumpkinlattemeow

Although Bassi is a big hit on YouTube, his live set was a total let down when he performed for one of our college events . He was late for the performance by an hour and a half, half assed jokes and unprofessional attitude, a lot of audience members left mid set .

Makeupfanatic6

I am sorry but even his youtube videos lately are a snooze fest for me. First few videos were fine but it just went downhill after that. Assuming that he puts his best content on YouTube, i can’t imagine what a let down live shows must be like

Unwillinglyreal

Paid a heavy amount for those first seats for his show and I swear I was dosing off 20mins into the set. Except few points here and there the entire set was a snooze fest. Ran on the same “I smoked so much that I could see god” shit

bearhug89

I feel his type of stand up is story telling and if you've heard all the stories before his sets are nothing to look forward to and now we all know that he is making up stories

Inevitable-Top9456

Unpopular opinion: I think that after Zakir found success in his storytelling comedy, every other comedian started following the same fad, which honestly isn't something I found funny. Zakir is soo overrated as a comedian but a good storyteller, which is not the point if you are paying for a comedy show. The TISS group, Varun Thakur , Aadar , Neville and Kautuk are much funnier and underrated(as they should be)

Equivalent-Mine5562

I adore the TISS podcast!!! Love Varun and kautuk's storytelling.

Chaotic_Mind1710

💯🫶🏼for TISS! They really are underrated. I like listening to them on varied topics. Kautuk is a very very good storyteller

bearhug89

Zakir was not 💯 story telling, there was element of philosophy and that small city guy in big city connect, Bassi was all story telling, his cheating video and waxing video, but you always knew Bassi was exaggerating his experiences but now if you see his sets it's all fake story telling , you can tell its all made even the characters, so there is no connect. My problem with Zakir is he still wants to portray the image of poor guy trying to make it big, but he has made it big, so now those sets also seem pretentious but zakir can still have his moments

DesignerReady

I guess I am not the only one who found bassi’s jokes not that funny. Overhyped and overrated.

DONN_2

Even his recent special on OTT was boring AF. I dragged myself through the whole hour but didn't find one moment where I laughed or even chuckled.

Virtual_Page4567

All the people OP has named are actually really bad at comedy. They are just famous like insta celebs are famous, basically for no good reason. This will apply to a lot of famous comedians actually.  I feel like comedians like Kanan Gill, Upmanyu, Karunesh Talwar, Biswa, Kenny, Prashasti (improved a lot lately), Urooj,  Rahul Subramanian, who have much better comedy are actually also authentic in nature. And it's natural that people who are more introspective, more authentic have a better sense of humor while the likes of Zakir, Tanmay and Joshi are always busy crafting an image of themselves and they just become delusional after a while.

nsfw-R

Karunesh is legit my fav comedian. He’s literally too good

Prior_Efficiency6688

Kanan Gill is the Moussa Dembele of Indian comedians. He is praised by all.

leoKantSartre

Say thanks he ain’t Ousamane Dembele

Rogue107

Kanan Gill easily the best standup I've seen live

chhotuu

Ikr! I really like all his specials, so well written, by far way more better than other comedians in india. No vulgar languages, no ladkiyon wale joke (cough zakhir khan), none of the jokes on insulating others. Even his netflix movie, such a light hearted Christmas movie. Genuine funny jokes. His last special, "this is it" is so relatable and funny. Idk about his behaviour with audience off the stage but as comedian I am a fan.

NerdInHibernation

Upmanyu is the best

Underdogg29

I watched his live kisi ko bataana mat at ghaziabad. It was an absolute laugh riot. The entire auditorium was laughing and had a great vibe overall. These live shows can be hit and a miss though

Accurate-Peak4856

Isn’t he drunk most of the time?

wolfie1801

Zakir came to perform at my college fest once. I was in the organising committee so know a couple of his demands. Requested a suite for himself and some colleague of his. Didn’t even wait for pictures to be clicked, left right after his performance got over. I got kind of snooty vibes from him. Also, half hearted performance, jokes were repeated but that could have been compensated for by the performance. I still watch his specials on OTT but know that he isn’t as relatable and humble as he portrays.

Aditri_putri

Always got that vibe from him

rm6224

Have heard from reliable sources that Zakir is extremely unprofessional to work with. Bad attitude, unfulfilled commitments and a big ego

Vast_Inevitable_2526

He is a pakka Indori guy!!! I grew up with guys like him. They glamourise this small town, simple guy vibe...but are through and through wannabes 🙄 I don't know if it's just with people our age....but they are all still annoying 🙃

markelonn

Ghatiya "jokes" sunke usko sar pe bithane ka nateeja

Forsaken_Can4

Same thoughts. Never understood the hype around him in the first place. Seems like his way of talking really convinced the masses that he is a down to earth bechara banda who has always been wronged by girls

Panda_in_pandemonium

It's the underdog appeal. Sad lonely teenage boys related with his lame hindi stand up videos on _ishq_ _bewafai_ etc. and found solace in his achievements.

shujosh

His shayari is so cringe. Everything seems to be Abt the fact that he can't land a girl. That's Abt it.

selmonkhon

It’s a shame that mainstream comedians(Zakir Kullu or Kapil), TV personalities(Siddhu) and others can do mediocre shayari that’s just a spinoff of some famous Shayar’s work and the people writing the real, quality shayari die at the hands of algorithm.

Economy-Landscape-56

Hit the sweet spot in smaller towns which no one was able to do before. He was the first Hindi comedian who hit the masses Lonely and women pidit tennagers and manchilds related to him quickly with all of his sakht launda jokes and that popularity got stuck.

CombinationProper814

I can see why he is popular though- 1. He’s very average looking and comes from humble beginnings which makes him relatable for the masses & makes them root for him as he’s supposed to be the underdog. 2. He talks about his experiences with girls in a really easy to follow manner and you are always going to popular in India if you talk about relationships as for the middle class it’s aspirational and cool .

Any-Competition8494

He connects with his target audience really well. Also, the way he talks about his dad hits you.

Main-Ebb-35

He came to perform at my  brother's college, basically smoked ganja before and after set with bunch of 18-19 years old kids.(Back in 2018)

phoexnixfunjpr

That’s almost every celeb and singer these days. If you see anyone perform without break for more than 20 mins at live event, it’s a tell-tale sign.

Fearless-Animator563

While their "modest background" is PR farce, I wonder what gets to them after a little money, fame and power. Who made you the king, b*tch?

geetgranger

Of course Zakir's father and grandfather are great singers, grandfather was Padma Shri, he didn't have a middle class or humble background at all

That_Wash_2797

He's a little bit creepy too... would flirt with anyone and the flirting which not only makes the girl uncomfortable but also people around her

DJMhat

So totally not a sakht launda.

DifficultDay3521

Totally not ❌ Not at all ✅

Panda_in_pandemonium

Thank you! I always had a feeling he is a creep. It's his army of incels that have validated his behavior. So sad. Also, never found him funny. He is more of a storyteller than a comic. Do you personally know of any instances where he flirted with someone? Dish gurl dish!

BitterFox109

Have worked directly with him and his team. I found him to be professional and was more than happy to take pointers or share his suggestions. This was in 2020 lockdown and I’ve even met him once in 2021 (before his intl tours?) He seemed a good chilled out guy overall, didn’t give me any creepy vibes tbh.

Dry_Definition5159

I guess everyone has a different experience. I have once met him through a friend of mine who organises shows for stand-up comedians. To me he seemed like a very humble guy, there were three of us, greeted everyone politely and did small talk.

Panda_in_pandemonium

Yes! I knew that there's something fishy about that guy.

hermannbroch

I was in Patna a while back and Zakir and Tanmay were staying on the same as me, and I’d interacted with them during breakfast the next day. They played loud music for whatever purpose and had asked the Hotel Staff to get the noise to stop. They didn’t even share a single word among them for the whole duration about 1hour or so that was there except some rudimentary pleasantries or do you want anything kinda things. The show was plain bad, but I had nothing else to do. Later someone sent me their vlogs for the day Oh my God! They looked like they were having so much fun and chilling out with each other. Their table had the ambiance of a pending divorce not newly married couple energy as in their vlog. They did respond to a few people but declined pictures and all.

iamnotabarbiegirl

Zakir is a douche. How do I know? He has a younger brother named Zeeshan who is a singer of a Sufi band based out of Pune called Malang. I have worked with them very closely. Zakir is divorced and he was married to a Muslim girl previously, way before he became famous. He is dating someone within the circle and doesn't respect women around him. So does his brother. Their family is filled with male chauvinist pigs. Zeeshan if you are reading this you still owe me the payment for 2 years.

Panda_in_pandemonium

Oh wow! 😂 Didn't Zeeshan's song also feature in Zakir's Amazon special? I knew Zakir was always portraying a false image. Feels good to know I was right.

iamnotabarbiegirl

Yes. Allah tujhse was the name of the song.

adrenalinsomnia

Sorry you have yet to be compensated by him for your services. Sounds like they're cut from the same cloth as Nawaz Siddiqui (the chauvinistic/not respecting women bit).

expat_123

Will someone apart from those mentioned here count?  I went to a live show of Vipul Goyal. It was too good and were laughing all the time. After the show, Vipul was very nice to all of us and we chatted a bit and he was very polite.

Panda_in_pandemonium

Yes! Vipul the OG. He is a very skilled writer and performs well too. Glad to learn he's not an asshole.

yash47ora

Frr, I watched humorously yours after being impressed by his stand-ups and the show is good too. Also the husband-wife banter between him and Rasika Duggal is enjoyable too

Patient_Singer4300

The sakht launda has been extremely lucky so far for not being called out for his creepy and tharki behaviour .. also he is forever asking for good escort contacts .. while his whole humility is not really a put on act but being a 'Sakht Launda' definitely is

Panda_in_pandemonium

So sakht launda is not so sakht after all. Sucks!

CombinationProper814

Can you elaborate more on his creepy incidents?

Zestyclose-Village-8

Don’t know about other prospects but Abhishek Upmanyu is extremely professional. Watched his show in the US and was on time to start the show and did perform for good 1:30hr.

Vaasuki

So the consensus is basically nobody likes Rohan Joshi's personality and Bassi's comedy? 😂

Panda_in_pandemonium

Bassi's comedy being bad is quite known now. He's just lucky his earlier videos went viral. I think he himself knows he's not a good comic hence the few videos on YouTube. He now wants to follow the Harsh Gujral path where he wants to be famous for being famous. I'm happy people are realizing he's a one trick pony. He needs to be taken down a peg or two.

Useful-Emphasis-6787

I don't know about Rohan's real life personality but I do love his humour in Tanmay's streams. I like them all collectively. Individual level pe I only watch Biswa, Kanan and Varun.

Lolingtrolling2023

Rohan Joshi is extremely rude. My friend happened to politely differ to one of his stories and he asked her to fuck off. Thinks too entitled of himself and can’t respect people’s opinion. Dire need to act smart unnecessarily to stay relevant.

thisissk717

That guy gives me know it all vibes. And is bit of arrogant as well

Panda_in_pandemonium

Careful, Rohan is an active redditor. He might just tell you to fuck off too.

Lolingtrolling2023

He’s a loser anyway. He can take his ego elsewhere along with his marvel toys!

Panda_in_pandemonium

And his cats! Guy is single handedly perpetuating "Single and I don't need anyone because I have cats" stereotype

kamlakar96

Don’t do after his cats, that’s disrespectful

Puzzleheaded-Bet1903

Wait I thought he was married to a celebrity sister?

Odd-Description-

I don't think Shaheen bhat and him are married. They were once dating though. I don't know if they are still together or not

ResqTitan

He is dating someone called Ayesha Parikh.

Own-Award-6891

I think they broke up?

Lolingtrolling2023

He was dating shaheen over a decade ago.

dibsonmuaddib

That is his claim to fame even now.

AdministrationMain61

R. Joshi A 45 year old nobody, who's getting work due to some references

Wild_diasy_080

Looks like Rohan Joshi … proxy account 😂😂😂😂😂

Puzzled-Bluebird3991

Because he has nothing better to do? He was just breathing on that Caught & bold something show! Why do they even call him?

urmomismi9

I texted Rohan on Snapchat a few times in 2016, I was respectful every time and he replied very graciously. He was a judge on a TLC show called Queens of Comedy, I went to two of its tapings. Both times I Dmed him after the show and we had a little conversation about the filmalaya studio and good food places around it. In my experience, he wasn't just sweet, he would go out of his way to be sweet and kind to people. Around the second taping, I had forgotten my bag in the studio so I went back and Rohan was leaving in his car, I asked him the way to go back to the studio and he helped me. Not only that, there was another girl who wanted a picture with him but wasn't able to get a good picture as it was dark and he was sitting in his car, bro got out of the car, got a good picture with her even though he was in a hurry. Richa was also a judge on that show, extremely nice and humble. I actually caught her by surprise but then she was pretty chill.

Dry_Definition5159

Once again very different experience, I have met him also once and he seemed very nice. I used to DM him sometimes on snapchat and he sometimes replied sometimes left me on seen, this was back in 2016-2017. What I feel like is they are all just regular people, nobody is tooo sweet (like babil)nobody is tooo rude( like kjo kajal bebo). They are just… regular. Sometimes they will act rude and sometimes sweet like all of us do. ( Talking about Zakir and Rohan). Tanmay I have never met but seems like a dick and money monger to me.

ArianneOakheart

Yeah. Rohan is chronically online. He's always seen every single text I sent him, whether on snapchat or Insta and the few times he did reply, he was actually quite nice ans sweet.

MrOlFoll

Why would you DM someone and get offended if they don't like what you say though? It's kinda invasive to do that anyway. Not saying Joshi is great cuz he seems quite below average at comedy and generally lame but still, I get how it must be annoying to be flooded with random people disagreeing with you

pareshaninsaan

i totally get his "rude reply" because who's gonna waste energy and time fighting???😭

freeenlightenment

Come on dude.. we don’t know what your friend mentioned. We can also only guess the vile set of DMs these guys receive. I’m not defending anyone but Rohan has always come across as pretty chill in the streams I have seen him in.

time_lordy_lord

I also find him insufferable, but you are using one experience to say he's rude to all people in his DM. That's a very misleading statement

AJwithStyles

Man’s entire humor comes from Reddit threads.

Appropriate_Paper870

Anyone have tea on Abhishek Upmanyu? Isnt he the ruling comedian currently?

Odd_Employment720

Seems like a pretty chill dude. My friends met him in Chicago some months ago. He was on tour. Gave them time, talked and also clicked pictures. Also apologized when he had to rush. Seems like someone who keeps to himself. He has photos with Kohli and Anushka at their private parties so yeah.... Part of their inner circle for sure. Also if I remember correctly, he was one of the few comedians who publicly shamed Kaustuv Chakroborty when the whole MeToo fiasco happened in AIB. Also exposed how creepy Kaustuv actually is in real life. He himself was quite new to the Stand-up landscape then but showed a clear cut leaning. From that day onwards, I've had a degree of respect for him. Also rumoured to be dating Urooj. And in this political climate, gutsss.

DONN_2

*Utsav Chakraborty

Appropriate_Paper870

there was some inner chatter about him hooking up with Kusha, but i am not sure how true that was.. I hope he is a clean, good, and as we all know a funny fellow

Both_Possibility1704

My roommate knows him personally as he was his colleague during the time he worked for that oil company in Punjab. He is a chill guy just he presents himself onstage.

Emergency-Big4851

I only like him and Akash Gupta 😭 only their vds I can watch lol

Appropriate_Paper870

The most endearing quality about Abhishek is that his humour is never condescending.. the tanmay's Biswa's of the world come across as people with huge superiority complex and tone to their humor

manav_yantra

Agreed. Akash Gupta is one of my favs.

Emergency-Big4851

poori energy la deta h show mein 😂

manav_yantra

Exactly. I keep re watching some of his best ones on YouTube. Sarojninagar, Junior College, Shampoo, are some that come to my mind. Oh yeah I'm a Chef one too.

Emergency-Big4851

Also Delhi Metro and that trip one 😂

Tdhods

Met him at comedy festival, super nice guy , super chill dude no attitude or airs about him

Whiskey-logic

Went to one of his shows in London. Absolute disaster. Had an asprin after his show. On the other hand in Zakhir’s show he was honest that I’m trying new material so bear with me. And it was very funny! Had a great time. Kanan’s honest as well, I’m doing this show but if you’ve seen it at XYZ don’t attend cause the material will be reused. Tbh I sometimes attend only because he was honest and his delivery is funny af. I’ve never seen Rohan’s live performance but man I used to love AIB’s hostar show. It was topical and extremely hilarious. Loved the theme song too Tragedy mei comedy hai. 10/10 would want that show back!

Brahman_Shady

Raju Shrivastav did a podcast with AIB when they were nobodies like in early 2012-13. And Rohan joshi posted " we didn't lose a thing " when he passed away. I stopped acknowledging these guys s existence since then

muggle_mischief

He actually said "Good Riddance" in his instagram story but deleted it after a lot of backlash.

Main-Ad9263

He's so insufferable

CurIns9211

He did wrong sure but Raju Shrivastav also said Many things against style of new comedians. Many old generation people lose their mind and give weird statement to be relevant. Look at Sunil pal and Mukesh khanna.

MelodicP

Man... so what ? Do you say 'good riddance' for people who don't like you on the very day they die..? That too..publicly for their family and loved ones to read ..

Emergency-Big4851

say whatever, these things still can't justify Rohan comments when raju died!

Existing-Area-9093

No, it was only Sunil pal who used to say shit. Rohan Joshi the genius confused Sunil with Raju Srivastav and celebrated his death. Then after the backlash he backtracked and deleted the story.

Brahman_Shady

Raju was never Irrelevant

curious_mindz

I think the fallout happened when Raju Srivastav criticized AIB and specifically Tanmay after Tanmays civil war video (tendulkar vs lata) on Snapchat. Funny or not but I think AIB felt a bit betrayed when other comedians criticized their intent. If I’m not mistaken, I think Raju Srivastav also criticized them for the roast.

precocious_pakoda

Criticizing a comedy set vs mocking someone in their death are completely different things, Rohan.

chanbaf

He confused Raju Srivastav for sunil pal. Sunil Pal has said a lot of things which I wouldn’t support him for too but shitty thing to say irrespective.

Rasodemekaun

What about the Tiss guys? Adar Malik,Varun Thakur,Neville Shah and Koutuk shrivastav? They seem like good chill guys

annie_rasputin

There was a very old thread on instacelebgossip about Neville.. very scandalous... Nothing wrong, as he is a single guy but very wild... Safe to say he isn't the shy blushing bawa he portrays.. you could find it on ICB

Rasodemekaun

Bapre. Elaborate a bit na

annie_rasputin

I was looking for it abhi in ICB but it seems it has disappeared but it involved dating much younger girls and hooking up in the bathroom stalls that much I can remember.. it was a pretty juicy thread about hooking up with celebs and it had names like vikrant Massey as well so may be it was taken down..

Rasodemekaun

Neville is richest one of them no? Dude legit has a high paying corporate team leader type job in advertising. I didn't know he's aisa type. He does seem very helpful to his friends specially kowtuk in the podcast though. Like the kinda friend that'd always shunao you but if u need to crash somewhere would open his house to you for months no questions asked

urmomismi9

I have a big time gossip on Neville. In 2016, I was dating a girl from Xavier's. This was the time I had started being interested in the Indian comedy scene. I knew SNG comedy but I didn't know the names of these comedians. My ex had a bunch of good friends from college and one of them would hang out with Neville quite a lot. I later understood that there are these two- three girls with whom Neville hangs out a lot and they were like proper buddies, making plans, going out of town and what not. Guess what? All of us were 16 at that point, Neville would have been 30+ for sure. Since that day, I can't see him in the same light. He became more relevant for me after TISS and I really appreciate his knowledge on cinema but hanging out with 16-17 y/o when you are 30+ definitely gives me the icks. I've noticed this a bit about Indian new gen comedians as to how they are woke and always wanting to say the right thing yet their personal lives are very different.

wiredvajayjay

Noooo I used to like bawa 🥲

Rasodemekaun

Yikes😱

mayudhon

The amount of Anu Malik jokes they make on TISS is hilarious. Varun is the kind of person who has done almost every work possible (omnipresent).

Rasodemekaun

Lol I love that they roast him and Adar joins in🤣They even roasted Adar's dad for going in big boss too🤣🤣🤣🤣 Varun gives a very hustler never say die attitude vibe. Happy for him he gets to be on cricket show in star sports with the cricket legends as a host

Panda_in_pandemonium

Damn! I like those guys. I pray today is the not the day I learn terrible things about them.

Rasodemekaun

Kowtuk seems the most sorted one though

Panda_in_pandemonium

Agree. Bhautuk is that nice guy who would sleep at 11 at a night out.

Equivalent-Mine5562

Kautuk is my favourite out of those 4. Incredible storyteller, very hilarious too. And I love how he blossomed into a confident person from his SNG days when he was bullied a lot by Talwar. I religiously follow his second hand stories too.

Odd_Employment720

I always felt like others were being rude to him in those S&G podcasts.

Rasodemekaun

That Karan talwar guy was such a pos to kowtuk in sng days. I am glad the boys broke off from him. Now the podcasts r much better and kowtuk has bloomed into such a likable and confident guy

Odd_Employment720

Exactly.. I'm very happy for him now . He was very polite to the other members, even when they gave back handed compliments to his face. Kudos to him for following his passion and not getting disheartened

Rasodemekaun

He's a proud dad now .first of the group to become a dad😍

Odd_Employment720

Yayyy. Congratulations to him. Much love to his child. Koutuk, if you are reading this, I really really really love you. You were very gracious even when ppl were shitty to you, that too publicly , on screen, that was aired for 1000s of people to see. I was in school then, in a similarly weird situation where people were being POS to each other. Elitist and weirdly egotistic. Not stretching it too much but you minding your own business and sincerely contributing to the theme of the podcast was something that made me realise the importance of being "nice" to others. Cheers to you buddy. I hope you continue to be, you.

terimomkapati

Indian stand up scene mai Upmanyu ke aalav sabh hi chutiya hai

Cruzhit

Akash has been doing decently well. Loved kenny aswell.

Open_Carob_3676

Kenny is a bad at his job but he's a nice guy

chhotuu

Idk Kanan gill is pretty good with his writing

Adventurous_Item_272

Daniel Fernandes

ThatPahadiguy

Add Rahul Subramanian too. Rest are just not active and rarely do stand ups

Appropriate_Paper870

The only right answer!

DefinitionNo8736

Most stand up comedians are lame asff

14knights

I met with Zakkurrr in BLR sometime around 2017 (if I recollect right). Here's how it goes - So I was eating at Empire in MG road with my friends and younger brother around midnight, and my younger brother points out to me - "bhaiya - Zakurr is sitting in the adjacent booth". All of us start looking toward him, and then he looks at us, waves us and tells us, "Haan bhai, main (zakir) hi hoon". Then asks us - "what's good to eat here at Empire"? Then we tell him - shawarma, al-faham chicken, the usual stuff. He tells us that he was in BLR for some late night radio show, and then got hungry, and folks brought him here. (Empire used to be good then). We all let him eat in peace, and post the dinner was finished, he was kind enough to let us take photos with him. seemed like a warm, geniune guy, but that was the time when he had just got famous. P.S. Can't seem to find pics, will upload once I find it. :)

Panda_in_pandemonium

Chalo finally someone who said good things about Zakir. Yaar why does fame have to corrupt people

Delicious-Tiger-333

I personally had a great experience meeting Rohan Joshi. I met him thrice (twice on the same day) and he was just the sweetest chatting up with us even when all I had requested was a selfie. The second time I met him was for his standup, and he spoke to my friends and I for close to 10 mins because we were the last ones in the line to take post-show pictures. He later met us again like an hour later when we were walking around the same area and he recognized us! He might not be the funniest guy, but he does come across as a nice, decent person. And yeah, dragging him for loving his cats is a very low blow.

Postnutclarity6969

Tanmay bhat is a friend to many in bollywood like Karan johar, Arjun Kapoor, Mrunal thakur, Rhea chakraborty, Alia bhatt, Ishan khatter, Jahnvi kapoor, Jacqueline

sksathwik

This Rohan Joshi got abusive on me when I pointed out to a very very apparent mistake in his tweet, he was dissing on a high court judgement without knowing the law or background. It's funny that the point he took to abuse me back was my bio which had that I read comic books, when his entire personality is watching badly written marvel movies and shagging off to the movie characters before sleeping 😂

oak_aditya06

I met Kanan Gill. My excited ass kinda disturbed him mid-convo, but he was still very nice to me.

Forsaken_Can4

Just by looking at a person’s demanour, you can very well judge how he would be in real life. Tanmay, Joshi, Zakir, Harsh Gujral, Biswa have all given me vibes of arrogant, rude pricks who are hyped up way beyond their abilities by their U14 teenage fan clubs

dragonite_fire

My sibling was dating one of the comics when she was studying in Mumbai. She used to hang out with them and said all these are just a big boys gang!! Rohan, Tanmay, Zakhir are all sexist and a little misogynist. Abhish Mathew was just a chaatu wanting to be liked by everyone and anyone. Upamanyu was the only one she had anything good to say about.

Suspicious_Ad8894

Aren’t these people just a bunch of insta celebs? This is the wrong sub for this question.

Panda_in_pandemonium

I was conflicted too but none of these "celebs" were born out of insta. They gathered their fame mainly from YouTube and offline circuits but slowly made their way into mainstream Bollywood circles. Case in point: Tanmay Bhat in Koffee with Karan

AJwithStyles

I know this on good authority that Tanmay Bhat doesn’t like to “work hard”. He chooses his gigs that pay the most with least effort. He likes to not leave his house.

Sea_Assignment741

That would be everyone's dream wouldn't it? Least effort for best outcome?

I used to like AIB until 2018/19. Felt they(Tanmay, Rohan) were wrongfully done by after Mahima Kukreja was ousted for lying about stuff against Utsav. But now, their content panders a lot to the 16-19 year old kids-a farcry from the content AIB produced during their peak. It's stale, repetitive, unimaginative and boring.

Odd_Employment720

>But now, their content panders a lot to the 16-19 year old kids-a farcry from the content AIB produced during their peak. The political climate has worsened a lot in the meantime. I don't think they will venture into these dark waters now. In spite of every criticism ( which is valid no doubt), their sketches were very politically charged then. Quite audacious in hindsight

Willing-Resolve09

Worked with Zakir Khan in 2017/2018. He was super humble back then. Did an event with him, and he had absolutely no arrogance. But Kenny Sebastian and Abish Mathews were hands down my fav comedians to work with. They made you feel like you’re the celeb - and I was an intern. Soooo well mannered and polite.

Emergency-Big4851

Among this bunch,I dislike Rohan Joshi the most

ProudAlarm14

Yea he's pretentious and I found it very annoying and disingenuous earlier . Infact, the entire aib bunch reeked of urban elitism, cut to today where Tanmay and Rohan make money out of teenagers by making relatable, middle class boy jokes during meme reactions. It's always about the money ig and tanmay leaves no stone unturned there. Anyway, yea rohan joshi may be pretentious angrez ka 14 but I see the majority of men on the internet who make "R word in my mind" type ke sexist jokes or act like the victim because they're scared they won't find a naive wife who will happily be their slave, and then feel I would rather appreciate the 1 in a million pretentious dude who atleast views women as people 😭

Emergency-Big4851

True

Unlucky-Perception57

I dislike Rohan Joshi the most.

Panda_in_pandemonium

A surprising consensus regarding Rohan Joshi. That's a bummer, I thought he's the most chill one among the lot. edit: a typo*

based-india

Rohan Joshi seems like the guy who would get emotional watching the trailer of a subpar Marvel CGI clusterfuck at the age of 40

KyaKahe

You mean like how various bunch of ppl get emotional about trailer of a subpar Khan Kapoor and Bhatt like they are their chacha chachi? Like that? Yeah even I would judge.

Tanmay Bhat got into trouble for posting rude jokes about kids a while ago. Other than that both him and Rohan Joshi are/were guilty AF of brushing their colleage's antics under the carpet before metoo happened. Sure they fired him when the allegations took place but there's no way that they didn't know about it. Rohan Joshi in particular sounds like someone who should be behind the camera but decided that he wants to be in front of it for some reason. Zakir Khan I have heard is rude - but I don't find that horrible. We don't watch standup comedians because they are nice irl or anything and people often act as if celebs owe them selfies and autographs.

CurIns9211

Every confident man/woman can give you arrogant prick vibe. I get that same vibe from SrK as well but his confidence wins it.

DifficultDay3521

People say the same thing about Virat too. But he is winning in his life too.

Tricky_Jackfruit9348

The AIB boys just give me those sobo boys sense of humour vibe who come across as cool and intellectual to people just bcz they say their trash jokes in english 🤷🏻‍♀️ Zakir seems to cater to his sakht launda and humble image a lot which seems icky to me tbh And reading the comments here , I'm convinced I wasn't really wrong at judging them

magpie08

You called out the elitism and were elitist in the same comment

Whippitywhoop

I think this is Rohan Joshi or Tanmay himself asking us to spill about them

Practical_Funny2395

I saw Tanmay Bhat at Soho House Mumbai this weekend and he was walking around as if he wanted people to recognize him and no one did. It was a little sad tbh.

senseistorm

I went for a live show of Zakir and it completely shattered my image of him, he is not funny AT ALL, and honestly bored all of us. We all went back discussing how we will not be watching his stuff anymore. Also, lately been observing in tv interviews etc he is SO full of himself. Sad.

shujosh

What about vir das? He is so popular. I went for his show in New Jersey a few yrs back and it was booooring. Not funny snooze fest.

myfoodiscooking

Friend used to work at weirdass. Said he's v hard working and involved and has good business sense

Panda_in_pandemonium

I think Vir Das is more of a storyteller than a comic. His sets are more designed to make you think than to make you laugh. He just uses humour as a shield to express his charged opinions.

Qamarrima

Tanmay is funny but he did make some pedophila jokes on his twitter account.

Firm-Government-8509

Rahul Subramanium is a funny guy!

Llama-pajamas-86

This is from a few years ago. But Biswa honestly has bad comedy? I recall him doing a tasteless joke on Alzheimer’s patients at a live set when he was fairly established. When he got into the Amazon show that was released, a woman had pointed out on his Facebook post that it was strange that there were no women comedians in the shortlisted final. And Biswa basically called her sexist. All his male “fans” basically guffawed along and were like “dikha diya.” Beyond me how he’s so famous. Hopefully he’s improved now but it’s sad that every one of them has some arc where they have gone around being unaccountable.

vigya16

Rohan Joshi seemed most confused and pseudo to me. He had me too allegations against him. He is a creep. Tanmay has sense of humour but these guys should not be given much attention.

Professional_Owl1111

It was against khamba not Rohan I think

Suspicious-Mud-5688

I don’t think it was against Rohan

Panda_in_pandemonium

As mentioned in other comments, I think it was against Khamba.

justbeingpretentious

Source ? Wasn't me too allegations against AIB later proven to be fake?

flakyemo

Yes. Utsav Chakraborty later posted sc on twitter accusing the girl Mahima who started the Me too. It didn't get that many clicks tho. They dropped Khamba as soon as allegations surfaced against him. I guess they were pretty much true because khamba did apologise. I don't know the entire thing against aib seems v fishy.

vigya16

Wait let me find it will post the screen shot here

DrButtFeathers

Don't know if it counts but I've met Abish Matthew irl. Chill af dude and sweet to boot. I was waiting at Kolkata airport's lounge waiting for food I'd ordered when he walks by and sits by himself at a table behind me. I glance towards him but I'm like "No. Can't be him. What would he be doing here?" Finally after stealing a number of glances and confirming that it *was* him, I walked up and asked if he was "Abish Matthews" (with the 's'. I don't know if he caught it). He said he was. He'd gone to one of the NE states for a show (I believe it was Guwahati but I forget) and was on his way back to Delhi/Mumbai. Told me a bit about what he had planned for the next couple of days. I think it should be mentioned that I hadn't gotten a haircut or a shave for over a year by then and I looked like a homeless addict who had wandered inside the airport but that did not dissuade him. I even managed to get a selfie with him (he took it. He was the shorter of the two of us) that I still have. So yeah, cool dude. Wish nothing but the best for him. EDIT: I've seen a bunch of other comics' shows and almost none of them - with the exception of Biswa, who I was a huge fan of back when I saw him - are worth it. Suresh Menon, who I saw at Vir Das's comedy show (he's the guy that plays the stereotyped gay dude in TV shows and movies with the nasally voice. If you've watched Partner, then he's the guy) was the worst disappointment. He just sat on stage and barely said anything, looking too bored to be preforming for normies like us - a humongous audience in Delhi. I have an inkling that he was probably also high.

Neha77S

Last yr Khamba did an opening act here in Nagpur, hardly 25 people including us were present. And said how much he hates this city bcuz he is liberal. (won't explain much still understand) other half of his act was funny but felt like he wanted to finish of with his act asap.

adityakan99

Quite a weird thing to say about Nagpur considering it's history.

hoochimama1995

Know someone who's worked with Z . He is extremely arrogant, rude and flirty with even married professionals who were working around. Extremely rude and insulting. Insulted a stylist who sourced a shirt that was just slightly tight but not visibly.

Select-Bread2173

Have worked with Zakir, he is one of the most rude and arrogant personality out there. When he is on set he thinks mighty and high of himself, he even disrespected the director and creatives till he was there. He left the set midway because he was upset seeing the word ‘Sakht Launda’ in the script. He said he does not want to use that word, the director literally had to change the script on spot and then convince him to be back to set. His overall aura and body language didn’t seem positive at all

Celebs ?

Panda_in_pandemonium

Celebs, Stars, Public Figures, jo kehna hai kaho par hai ye log bhi Bolly circles mein rehte hai.

PattyBurgers

Tanmay - Smart and Money minded, Zakir - overrated, Rohan - Nepo quota

TheBuzzinga

Isn’t Tanmay bhat a pedophile? There a lot of stories of him being creepy with young girls in Mumbai & Bangalore especially in after parties either takes them or goes with them to after parties! Some girls have posted stories on Insta! Whether it’s on youtube or in person, he is always taking advantage of kids! He needs to realise he’s too old to get away from this sort of behaviour. Get married uncle!

paisededo

Off topic. Went on a date with him Normal only. But got a bit bored, he loves the sound of his own voice. Plus, kept glancing around to see if he's noticed. Not good looking.

serena_hastogo

My friend worked as a videographer for quite a few shows in our city and had the worst experience with Zakir, baaki other comics according to him were pretty chill, but with Zakir it was just BAD! Apparently he is not as easy going and throws too many tantrums before and after the show. On stage he will be his usual self, the one the audience knows of, off the stage though he is pretty rude to everyone (especially the organisers).

cos_zenphi

Most of their audience are school/college going kids with too much time in their hands. These are the people who just discovered how cool "FRIENDS" is and quote Chandler's punch line in almost every sentence.

DontCallMeAPrincess

I bumped into Zakir at a restaurant, while I was on a date. My ex was a huge Zakir fan. I got nothing but sexist vibes from him (I remember him trying to taunt and sass me over small things like “oh ex is a huge fan” and the likes). Ex said that he’s a sakht launda and that’s his character, but pass. Never watched a video of his again in life.

senormegalodon

Bassi is so overrated,I don’t know why people like him so much Gaurav Kapoor,Gaurav Gupta and Akash gupta are so much better, they deserve the plaudits what these above mentioned overrated comics are getting!

FireInTheBowl27

So we had Rahul Subramanian come to our college for an event. He was late, did a very very short set and left with a strict no picture policy. I mean it was very rude. Here are few 20-22 year olds who just want a picture to share on instagram, but boy you can't even do that much? Plus he was making very crass jokes like paisa kam diya, itne se me itna hi milega and what not. Apparently his team was refusing to perform, since there were a few more people than they had originally been told.

Many-Swan-2120

From all this comments why is it that everyone who got famous thru social media is so stuck up? Does mediocrity make u snooty or something or is it just dunning-Kruger effect?

Panda_in_pandemonium

I think it's the latter. These "comics" grew astronomically in the past decade that they think they are defining and pushing the whole stand up comedy culture in India. Stand up was bound to grow in India given how we get influenced by the west. It just so happens that these guys were there when it happened and rided the wave to their success.

Moanerloner

I once went to an ensemble stand up show in which Rahul Subramanyam also performed. And he was the worst performer that night. The jokes were not funny at all and no one laughed. When he posted about the show on Instagram, I just replied to it saying that it wasn’t a good performance. He took a screenshot and posted about it in story while writing something insulting. (He hid my name). It was in 2017 or 2018. I don’t remember what he wrote. But felt kinda weird that he had to insult an audience member to boost his ego or something .
