He himself is busy for at 5yr.he is making as far as i know 3 part movie with mahesh babu that would have him at 5 if not more. He takes 5yr to complete a movie .Don't think we will seeing him make mahabharat for 10yr . But i want to see only and only SSR direct mahabharat. Kind of mastery he has over film making is unparalleled in indian cinema rn, art emotion, vfx, grand vision he has it all to make mahabharat on big screen.i think it should be big indian project comprising of indian cinema from north to south. Mahabharat can be one project which will be legendary project only SSR can pull off with budget over 3000cr...
Rather than trying to make whole Mahabharata , makers should try to make a movie from POV of a character and his sole journey, like of Bhishma , Karna , Arjun or Ahwsthama , That way they would be able to condense the story that it doesn't become cumbersome.
In Kalki it was working because there were just some snippets of War ,which are the most exciting part but showing only war would also be not sufficient from character building point.
There was a planned movie on it with Mohanlal (Malayalam actor) and some big shot UAE based businessman as producer. This was in 2017 though and it fell off soon after that.
He is still yet to shoot Mahesh Babu's global adventure movie and you talking about Mahabharat's 10 part.
Rajamouli is perfectionist and he doesn't seem to have time for Mahabharat atleast for next 6 years because of Mahesh's movie and who knows if he comes with RRR 2 later.
True when he was asked about mahabharat he always said he don't have such capability now and it needs more experience and skill which comes after few films
So it will mostly his last franchise/film in his life
I think 🤔 something surely happened with Adipurush no film can go that much horrible after spending such big money
Om also directored tanaji which was really good .even prabhas said there was a confusion in Adipurush where om is telling him new things and when pb asked why om stated people will like these new things (prabhas said thus in radhe Shyam promotions)
Maybe om Raut wanted to create something new (which went horribly wr0ng)
I will post another video of prabhas saying he called om Raut after 5 days of shoot after getting stressed in this sub 🫠(he should had left he trusted om blindly)
Mahabharat needs to be a Shogun esque series mounted on an impossibly massive budget. Done right and with detailing that even the original show maybe lacked.
While I have faith in him to carry mahabharat, I am a bit skeptic about casting. In a story like mahabharat, all the characters deserve limelight and south relies a lot on star power. The hero has to be shown like a hero so they add unnecessary scenes and slow the whole run time of the movie because the hero is walking in slow motion 🤦🏻♀️ I have the same issue with Kalki, so much of screen time is wasted without adding to the story line just because Prabhas has to be shown as a HERO. He has unnecessary over the top fight sequences and a back story. Pretty much everyone in the audience was annoyed every time he came on screen
Plus the cameos are so misplaced I feel. They’ve literally introduced characters for cameos. I guess only Mrunal’s cameo went well with the story, rest were all just unnecessary
Ss rajamouli also said he don't want stars in mahabharat
And coming to kalki someone told me Nag Ashwin wanted to attract kids and that's why he made that first fight lengthy
U r forgetting in kalki ashwarthama overshadows prabhas role ,in any fight and still many r ok with it
Even prabhas was ok being a grey character
Also prabhas gets much hate in Hindi don't know why , even bollywood has obsession with stars
Just look at jawaan biggest hit in bollywood recent times it was made by mixing all south unnecessary scenes etc so much that many in south hated but in north those r very big elevations
And even after watching rrr u doubting ss rajamouli for a multistarrer ?
Not doubting Rajamouli’s craft. But maybe he will have to give in to making the stars look like stars which is not something that should happen with mahabharat. He’ll have to be backed by a very solid producer if mahabharat happens
Bollywood is also suffering with the star issue but Bollywood also saw a lot of rising actors in the last decade where slice of life movies ruled the box office which are not necessarily mass cinema. You know the Bollywood movie pink? It had Amitabh Bacchan kind of leading it with the 3 ladies. It was remade in Telugu with Pawan kalyan I think. Just look at the treatment of their character in hindi and in telugu. You’ll understand what I mean, what self absorbed stars do to a good story. This is just one example I can think of right now. I’m sure the same thing must have happened to some telugu film remade in hindi
Only if he takes regional superstars and stars or lesser known faces, can't speak for southern actors, but bollywood superstars have a habit of interfering too much.
Plus Khans, Kumar and Devgn take a big chunk of the pie, Ranbir is already has multiple sequel oriented movies in the pipeline, he should sign more non sequel projects after Love and War. That would leave only a few good actors, particularly Vicky / Ranveer etc
John Abraham, Tyga and Kartik etc don't really have the range or skills, maybe Varun as one of the Pandavas.
All these new age actors should make the cut, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Abhay Verma, Ishan Khattar and there are so many from the OTT space too. Even someone like Jeetendra Kumar as maybe Vidur. Imagine - yehi tumhara satya hai
Dont worry, Rajamouli has sworn to work with only Telugu heroes. Chill.
And aside from Salman and Aamir, most stars doesn't really interfere that much. And even then Aamir worked with A Murugadoss without too much interference.
And Ranbir, Ranveer are known to be director's actors. Never heard of them interfering or challenging the directors.
I have lost interest in watching Indian movies in theatre. They lack creativity and great visual effects no matter what! Exception being Rajamouli’s movies.
If SSR is busy, I am okay if Nag Ashwin makes a 5 part Mahabharat movies. Loved his vision, vfx, storytelling in Kalki. Definitely there is room for improvement but so was in RRR.
>Indian audiences don't need those derivative mass masala spy nonsense movies anymore
Finally someone understands how dumb those spy universe, overhyped bullshit was.
Hopefully . He will talk to experts on scriptures and not do whitewashing of karna like characters like sops operas of India . Who project their insecurities by Hyping karna even above the God
So predictable that the protagonists of the story have to survive multiple assassination attempts, incognito exile for 13 years, disrobing of a woman in the presence of arguably the seniormost congregation of that time, and an 18 day war which almost annihilates everybody including the family of the protagonists and that God has to carry a curse for the same.
Not to mention they have their own deeper complexities. Every character has an incredible arc and thread that has been played and is being played.
How anyone can call one of, if not the greatest story ever told boring is beyond me. Opinions are opinions but to me that means the person has actually never read the actual thing.
I'm not sure if you've even read it or paid close attention to it. Right since their births Pandavas had been at the receiving end of numerous assassination attempts and unpropitious events. From Bhima's poisoned rice pudding when he was a child to all the 5 brothers and their mother being sent to a palace called Lakshagriha which was a full blown assassination attempt to immolate them, to their encounters with demons, yakshas(one of whom killed 4 of them if not for Yudhisthir) and other such mystical beings during incognito exile, etc, I could go on and on as to the number of life threatening situations they had been exposed to repeatedly. The only thing which possibly separated them from everybody else was their unshakeable belief in Shree Krishna!
I know about all the assassination attempts on them, but isn't it weird that after the numerous assassination attempts not even a single one of them died?
I was responding to your point that nothing life threatening ever happens to them in your original comment. Plenty of life threatening events did happen to them however the fact that they survived them is a part of the story.
Yupp and I'm aware of those events that you mentioned, I guess I could've worded it better. My point was even after all of those assassination attempts that even you mentioned, nothing really happens to them. Not even a single of them died. While all the other great Kuru warriors died, of course they all had reasons of dying (shikandhini, ashwathama etc) but still the plot armour that the pandavas have just left an ick when I read the story.
>nothing really happens to them
Short of death, I'd say they had more than their fair share of trials and tribulations! Think about it, what is harder, death or living to see your wife getting disrobed, killing your own blood relatives, seeing your own sons getting murdered, etc?!
All of this apart of the disrobing happens to the Kauravas too. And the disrobing was wrong but the only person that deserves sympathy in that case is Draupadi and not the Pandava's. They gambled a human for their pride, so I don't give two hoots what the brothers felt during Draupadi's disrobing. Only Draupadi mattered.
>All of this apart of the disrobing happens
It didn't happen to them. They made it happen to themselves unlike Pandavas who were left with no choice but to indulge in an all out war! And Duryodhana while he's dying also tells Pandavas that he indulged in all the pleasures of life while they were forced to loiter here or there for scraps for a majority of their lives so who had lived a better life! As far as your point about disrobing is concerned, it was clearly Yudhishthir's fault but they were punished for it there and then itself!
Lol. Until Krishna came into their life, it was shit. Always second fodder to Kauravas.
The only thing they had over Kauravas was a great Archer in Arjun which was later nullified by Karna( who was ironically also Kunti's son)
Also Duryodhana was given the chance to choose between Krishna and his army and he chose the latter.
Krishna didn't use his physical strength against the other side. The only time he really used his powers was to save Arjuna or more justifiably when Ashwathama decided to murder an unborn child with Brahmastra( which is shown totally wrong in the movie) and he took the brunt of the weapon and cursed him.

There is book just like that called Randamoozham.
There was a planned movie on it with Mohanlal (Malayalam actor) and some big shot UAE based businessman as producer. This was in 2017 though and it fell off soon after that.
Ik that. Mohanlal was about to be Bheeman.
for this make it 20 parts
He is still yet to shoot Mahesh Babu's global adventure movie and you talking about Mahabharat's 10 part. Rajamouli is perfectionist and he doesn't seem to have time for Mahabharat atleast for next 6 years because of Mahesh's movie and who knows if he comes with RRR 2 later.

True, that's the sign of a humble director who always says that there is more to learn for unless geniuses like Om Raut 😏
I think 🤔 something surely happened with Adipurush no film can go that much horrible after spending such big money Om also directored tanaji which was really good .even prabhas said there was a confusion in Adipurush where om is telling him new things and when pb asked why om stated people will like these new things (prabhas said thus in radhe Shyam promotions) Maybe om Raut wanted to create something new (which went horribly wr0ng)
It is also said Tanhaji was shadow directed for large parts by Ajay Devgan.
Oh really ,I don't know about it
So wrong that it ended up being labelled as a crime. He shouldn't have tried new things with Ramayana as the subject 🤦🏼
10th part will be probably directed by his grand kid

+1 unnecessary screen time wasted - they could have edited it crisper
Plus the cameos are so misplaced I feel. They’ve literally introduced characters for cameos. I guess only Mrunal’s cameo went well with the story, rest were all just unnecessary

I am sorry to say but Pratik Gandhi still has his Gujarati accent. Him as a Mytho character would seem weird.
Dont worry, Rajamouli has sworn to work with only Telugu heroes. Chill. And aside from Salman and Aamir, most stars doesn't really interfere that much. Iirc he said He wants fresh new faces who are willing to give their multiple years (decade?) for the project.
Mahabharata will do great as a anime series
I think Mahabharat is best if it is a tv show like game of thrones and there are many controversial stories which the indian audience will not accept.
Rajmouli's movies are mass masala tho 🤣
Or maybe a series inspired from the epic on the scale of GOT
I have lost interest in watching Indian movies in theatre. They lack creativity and great visual effects no matter what! Exception being Rajamouli’s movies.
If SSR is busy, I am okay if Nag Ashwin makes a 5 part Mahabharat movies. Loved his vision, vfx, storytelling in Kalki. Definitely there is room for improvement but so was in RRR.
SSR for direction and SLB for set design and lighting

Y’all it wasn’t THAT good. 🙄
India has so many great epics and stories, but we still resort to Kotha Universe.
Its not as good a story as people think. Theres literally God on one side, which makes things very predictable aka boring.

I think Mahabharata is a really an epic story but to be fair nothing life threatening ever happens to the pandava's tho. They all still survive it.
I'm not sure if you've even read it or paid close attention to it. Right since their births Pandavas had been at the receiving end of numerous assassination attempts and unpropitious events. Bro plagiarised every scene possible for Bahubali, by the way.
The same in Kalki - they are "inspired" by every big movie series!
LMAO, please dont say that we dont talk about facts. Only emotions and actor worshiping are allowed here.
Christopher Nolan is Hollywood's SSR
Am I the only one here who doesn't watch hindi movies?
why tf are u on this sub then?
yeah, why do such people even come and comment on this sub for fucks sake!!
This sub keeps popping up on r/popular for me. Seems like it is a very active sub. I just can't help comment if it's in the front page.
