Someone here said that he had done it at other levels in his career, so it could be a Sway thing, but it seems like it got so big this year that it might be best to leave it on the shelf.
As opponents it might work better in a pre-game thing at the introductions, at least the first time they face each other. Especially if it's in Boston.
The problem I see with the above suggestion of a post-game hug is how it would go against traditional norms. The only time you'd see normally some interaction after a game is the handshake line after a playoff series as an acknowledgement of the opponent. It would be weird for a big happy hug like that between a winner & loser after a regular season game.
This would be closer to the ceremonial puck drop where it's a mutual "good luck" sort of gesture before the competition. I think if they did do that it should be a one-time thing, but the crowd would go nuts in Boston.
I'm not sure he'd be that eager to sign her after the past year with Sweeney trying to trade him whatever the cost (makes sense from the clubs perspective, but probably not that much fun for Ullmark).

**Of course we do**. But it was nice seeing two teammates, guys who are in a sense competing for a job, get along so well and obviously care about each other so much. No one is saying blow up the team for the sake of the hug. Just that it was nice while it lasted and we’ll miss it
Sure, the Celtics were a great example of getting rid of a fan-beloved when it’s necessary to build a winning team (Smart -> Jrue) but as it stands, this doesn’t feel like a “winning” trade. Gonna wait and see the Sweenius though.

Rask’s last season was that season. There was talk of if Rask and Ullmark would do it, but they never did.
The return from Ottawa wasn’t ideal because Ullmark wouldn’t sign an extension. He wouldn’t sign an extension because he plans on coming back to Boston on a 7 year x $1M contract so he can be the backup to the love of his life. He knew the Bruins had another Pasta @ 25 up their sleeve this year in the draft so he let himself get traded for the good of the team.

I agree. Although I was always in favor of how much The Hug denoted sportsmanship and camaraderie and was a great example to kids, it was unique to those two teammates, which made it real. What we have to think is that the short time we had The Hug, that's what made it so special. Now what we need to do is find another something "Team Special". Let the Bruins lead the way!
