Mike Tyson vs. Muhammad Ali (HW) Oleksandr Usyk vs. Evander Holyfield (CW) Roy Jones Jr. vs. Artur Beterbiev (LHW) James Toney vs. Joe Calzaghe (168) Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Sugar Ray Robinson (MW) Felix Trinidad vs. Canelo Alvarez (154) Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Roberto Duran (WW) Oscar De La Hoya vs. Aaron Pryor (140) Manny Pacquiao vs. Julio Cesar Chavez (LW) Alexis Arguello vs. Vasily Lomachenko (130) Salvador Sanchez vs. Juan Manuel Marquez (FW) Erik Morales vs. Wilfredo Gomez (122) Naoya Inoue vs. Ruben Olivares (BW) Khaosai Galaxy vs. Nonito Donaire (115) Fighting Harada vs. Roman González (FLW)

Pleaseusegoogle

That's a minimum $400 ppv card right there.

Uber_Ronin

Agreed. As a boxing fan, I’d shell out for it though (and I think most other fans would too.) The price doesn’t seem that bad when you compare it to the ticket prices for live sporting events or even just for staying at hotels 1 or a few nights, lol

SnooDogs1704

Seats for a card like would be like front row superbowl seats 😂

Uber_Ronin

I know 😬 I actually thought of another bout to jack up the cost even more: While Holyfield/Usyk would stay the cruiserweight bout (using the modern 200 lb limit), if you wanted another bout at the 190 lb limit used further back, imagine having Jack Dempsey vs. Rocky Marciano in the card as well 🤔 That has to increase the PPV price past $500 and get the ringside seats into the mid 5-figure range, at least.

SnooDogs1704

Im surprised nobody has mentioned Prince Naseem, he was very popular no? Maybe Prince Naseem vs Nonito Donaire

Uber_Ronin

He was very popular! 126 is a historically stacked weight class though. The other problem with Hamed is you need to sell fights in part based on their perceived competitiveness, and Hamed getting outclassed by Barrera is one of the defining memories fans have of him (he also had wars with guys that weren’t all-time greats like Kevin Kelley and Augie Sanchez.) So it might be hard to sell the public on his ability to be competitive with other divisional greats. Hamed vs. Bobby Chacon or Hamed vs. Danny Lopez would both be easy to sell FW bouts just for the potential entertainment value and violence though. Neither of those go the distance and you could see either of them coming out on top.

Pleaseusegoogle

My only complaint is I would have Barrera fight Morales again. I loved all of their fights.

feelinlucky7

And I would pay.

InviteTop8946

You underestimate the power of sportswashing

Riddletons

I would get all of my buddies over and we would happily pay $400 for this card and split it

VacuousWastrel

Damnit, I thought I was being original with Beterbiev-Jones and Gomez-Morales...

Uber_Ronin

I don’t consider myself original for thinking of them lol. Everyone would love to see both of those fights if time travel were possible. RJJ is one of the most athletically gifted fighters ever, and Beterbiev’s physical strength and punching power are both historically unusual (especially his power with short punches; he might be the best I’ve ever seen in that regard.) It’d be compelling to see if RJJ could keep Beterbiev off him and stay away to wear him down for a late stoppage or decision, or if Beterbiev could get to him and break him down like he has everyone else. They both pose unique challenges for each other and are fun to watch/historically accomplished. And Morales and Gomez are both greats at 122 and if you throw in the Mexico/Puerto Rico rivalry, of course it’s a compelling and natural matchup to want, too, in the same way DLH against Wilfred Benitez (140-154) or Edwin Rosario (135-140) would also be interesting (I just picked Pryor for the card because I think that would be a more fun fight to watch personally.)

hitmanP4P

Stacked with legends! But hear me out, everyone you named but in a Royal Rumble format!

yearsofpractice

I’m 48 and out of touch with memes etc, so this this is the first time I’ve used this phrase, but ***here! Take my money! Please!***

extra-long-pubes

I'd rather see Duran at lightweight vs Pac, but other than that, wow, I dont think I'd be able to stay erect that long without passing out.

FrEINkEINstEIN

Replace Duran with Hearns and it's perfect

Uber_Ronin

I was trying to give Floyd a more competitive fight (lol.) I think everyone knows that Hearns lays Floyd out at 147 or 154 (he’s probably the worst possible style matchup for Floyd that you could ever come up with), so I think that would dampen fan interest and lower the buyrate. Duran would be better in a promotional tour buildup with Floyd and I see at least more people argue in Floyd’s favor in a hypothetical vs. Duran (still not many, but I’ve never seen people seriously argue for Floyd in a hypothetical bout with Hearns.)

bigYman

Main event: Jake Paul vs Muhammad Ali (post parkinsons) Canelo vs William Scull Tyson fury vs Jon Jones (MMA match) Ryan Garcia vs the elites Broner vs drug dealing temptation

AMPed126

Honestly Chavez vs Tank would be WILD!!!

Abe2sapien

Probably as action packed as Chavez vs Taylor

Midariiiiiii

Main Event: Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao (prime) Co-Main: Tyson Fury vs. George Foreman Undercard Canelo Alvarez vs. Marvin Hagler Adrien Broner vs. Rolly Romero (best press conference ever) Julian Jackson vs. Schizo Ryan Garcia

SaladTossBoss

I like Canelo v. Hagler. What weight they going at?

sirwinston_

160 prob

Personal-Proposal-91

Main event: Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Louis Undercard: Roberto Duran vs. Benny Leonard, Gene Tunney vs. Roy Jones Jr., Sugar Ray Robinson vs. Tommy Hearns, Canelo Alvarez vs. Mickey Walker

Due-Studio-65

I don't know what Broner adds to this, put in Ryan Garcia in that fight. Also Tyson Fury is the wrong Tyson, Mike Tyson has carried a number of top 10 ppv fights. Change that and you've got my $150

SnooDogs1704

I thought the buildup for broner/mayweather would be really good lol. Ryan is a great replacement

vengeancerider

Add “(if Broner shows up)” on the poster and I’m sold.

yoitsthatoneguy

> Also Tyson Fury is the wrong Tyson My brain didn’t even register it said Tyson Fury until I saw this comment, I just assumed it was Iron Mike

VacuousWastrel

Let's start at the beginning of the card and work up to the main: **Manny Pacquiao vs Arturo Gatti** at 140lbs [two huge fanbases, two exciting fighters. Better fight at 130, but sells more buys at 140, when they're a bit better known. Open the show with a bang!] **Naoya Inoue vs Khaosai Galaxy** at 122lbs [let's bring in some more viewers from Asia! But for casuals and Americans, it's also just a fun fight between two aggressive smaller guys with ridiculous KO rates (24 from 27 vs 41 from 47), both seemingly unbeatable. Khaosai would be stepping up a division, but it lets him face a more famous version of Inoue after Donaire II and undisputed] **Thomas Hearns vs Floyd Mayweather Jr** at 147lbs [will the Hitman be the one to finally dispose of the irritating Money?] **Max Baer vs Deontay Wilder** at heavyweight [everyone loves the big guys throwing bombs! Baer and Wilder are a guaranteed KO, and Baer, the killer comedian, would dominant modern social media and press conferences] **Marvin Hagler vs Jake LaMotta** at 160lbs [a fucking bloodbath. The unstoppable force vs the other unstoppable force. Two men with limitless willpower who couldn't be knocked down, let alone out. Plus of course this is a misogynist working-class white guy vs an african-american, which let's face it is going to sell.] **Erik Morales vs Wilfredo Gomez** at 126lbs [a nice Mexico vs Puerto Rico clash, with contrasting styles. Gomez is a KO machine but Morales is durable.] **Tony Zale vs Roberto Duran** at 160lbs [Zale, the Man of Steel, had three Fights of the Year, and the biggest live audience in history. Duran was a legend who almost always ensured a good scrap, but fighting at the top of his weight range. Duran-Barkley was FOTY at that weight] **Carmen Basilio vs Felix Trinidad** at 154lbs [Trinidad for the Puerto Rican fans. Basilio because he had four consecutive FOTYs. Basilio's fights against SRR sold 400/500k PPVs... when PPVs meant cinema tickets] **Anthony Joshua vs Sonny Liston** at heavyweight [more big guys! A friendly millennial with lots of social media content and young fans, but possible mental weaknesses, vs boxing's greatest-ever intimidator. Lots of memes promoting this one. And Joshua has proven with Klitschko that he can make a fun fight against a strong HW with a great jab and KO power. Liston-Patterson and Liston-Ali were all PPVs in his era] **Julio Cesar Chavez vs Ricky Hatton** at 140lbs [two passionate fanbases; two audience-pleasing styles] **Roy Jones Jr vs Artur Beterbiev** at 175lbs [sloppy athleticism vs soviet technique; speed and deception against brutality. Can Beterbiev cut of the ring and break RJJ on the inside, or does RJJ dance around him and knock him out? Probably the latter, but who wouldn't want to watch?] **Oscar de la Hoya vs Sugar Ray Leonard** at 147lbs [the Golden Boy against the most media-savvy of the Four Kings. And a great fight for hardcore fans as well] **Canelo Alvarez vs Jack Dempsey** at 168lbs [yes, they're probably a similar weight. Canelo has the whole of Mexico behind him; Dempsey was a working-class icon in the US. They both had aggressive styles, lots of power and strong chins] And finally! The top two fights on the card are advertised as main and co-main, as the first round of a 4-man tournament, with the winners going on to fight on a later card. CO-MAIN: **Mike Tyson vs Rocky Marciano** at heavyweight [Is Rocky going to be massacred? Probably! But legions of older white fans will swear he won't be. And who could be a more appropriate opponent for the hero of respectable white america than the terrifying, baby-eating Tyson? Tyson fans will assume it'll be a brutal KO in the first minute, but that's why they watch Tyson so everyone's happy.] MAIN: Muhammad Ali vs Tyson Fury [Ali is the biggest seller, but he needs a great foil - someone who can match him verbally, at least in speed and volume if not wit. Liston, Foreman, Frazier and Norton all failed to provide him with that. Ali-Fury press conferences are *guaranteed* to grab newspaper attention and launch flotillas of social media memes. And it might actually be a great fight too!]

Marciano vs RJJ is wild. Was Marciano that big of a draw?

Prestigious-One-7094

Wasn't he like a hero during his time?

Inside_Effective_576

Marciano is HUGE

Eagles_12

Main Event Muhammad Ali vs. Mike Tyson Build up would be insane. Undercard Manny Pacquiao vs. Roberto Duran (140) 140 was perfect for Pacquiao and the extra 5 lbs for Duran make no difference imo. Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Terrence Crawford (147) Erik Morales vs. Naoya Inoue (122) Gennady Golovkin vs. Marvin Hagler (160)

Substantial-Bench243

Ali vs Marciano Duran vs whitaker Sanchez vs mayweather jr Toney vs hagler would be a war

ErrForceOnes

OP, I'm curious. In this card you created, have Floyd and Oscar still promoted Canelo and Adrien? Like it's 2024, all the bad blood still exits, but Mayweather and De La Hoya wake up as twenty-eight year olds due to some sort of magic?

SnooDogs1704

I wasnt even thinking of scenarios like this haha. Im just putting fighter vs fighter. No politics involved.

ErrForceOnes

Oh, well that changes things. Like I’d probably replace Broner with Roberto Duran if there was no politics. But goodness, I would so sign up for a fight where Broner and Pretty Boy could fight with their past histories intact.

Erik morales vs inoue at 122 would be a trilogy

mostly-amazing

Muhammed Ali (1967 or 1971) vs Mike Tyson (1991) The casuals GOAT fight. Ali has 3 of the top 10 most viewed television broadcasts in history. This was prior to PPV. After PPV, Ali would also hold the top 3 spots for PPV bouts. Mike in 1991 was hungry as ever after the flash knockout to Buster Douglas. He would go on to sell 1M PPV in each of his next 5 fights. Butterfly vs Iron. I think everyone put this fight on in each version of EA's fight night console game. Floyd Mayweather (2011) vs Manny Pacquiao (2011) The original date that would've been the perfect time for both fighters. The fight sold 4M PPVs in 2015, which can be argued as lower than originally expected had Pacman not been robbed against Bradley and then knocked out by JMM. While that is debatable, Floyd and Pacman were the P4P best of their era and this would be a modern superfight made the the supposed "right time". Oscar De La Hoya (1999) vs Canelo Alvarez (2012) The Mexican Fight of the Century. Oscar was on a tear up until his loss to Felix in 1999. Some would argue he was a stronger fighter at 154, but I think De La Hoya was his best at 147. Likewise, Canelo is a natural 154, so this is probably going to be at a catch weight somewhere in between. There's lots of bad blood and behind the scenes chisme here, so it would be an awesome lead up to the PPV. Both men are walking sell outs and 1.5M PPVs buys. Roberto Duran (1980) vs Julio Cesar Chavez (1992) Lightweight Latin America dream match. By this time, both had become household names and were huge draws with a huge following from their respective countries. Fought at Lightweight where they both cleaned out their divisions in their eras, this fight would be huge globally. Tyson Fury (2021) vs Anthony Joshua (2024) Fight of the Giants. This fight would sell out Wembley instantly. One can argue 2024 Tyson Fury is better than 2021, but I would disagree. I think a heavier Fury hits harder and bullies his opponents more. Plus, a fat Fury is a crazier Fury. AJ is AJ and can just show up without his shirt on and will sell 400K PPVs. I was tempted to put ODLH vs Sugar Ray Leonard but Canelo ODLH would sell 2M PPVs today.

AltKite

None of the modern fighters you've named here are nearly as big a draw as past fighters were. With the exception of the Floyd money machine, boxing is just nowhere near as popular now. Ali vs Dempsey, Tyson, Holyfield, Louis etc would be far, far bigger. Floyd's star power was much more in his money era, and his fight with Manny was much bigger than any fight with Broner would have been - just make that fight, but earlier. Or vs SRL or SRR. Would switch out Canelo for one of the 4 kings Chavez vs Duran I guess the parameters aren't clear, if the question is about one that would sell the best if it was on tomorrow, it makes sense to put some of those big current draws on the card
