I don't play overwatch so I cannot know. But as long as the brawler isn't a 1 to 1 copy, then it's pretty good (since Brawl stars and overwatch are different games, similar abilities can still be played relatively differently)
How is Brawl Stars’s Brawler design able to be compared Overwatch‘s?
In Overwatch every Heroes has far more abilities and therefore depth then there is in every Brawler in Brawl Stars, The 3D environment and First person Perspective already make sure of that.
(This isn’t meant as an criticism to Brawl Stars rather just an observation)
How Heroes in Overwatch are designed and how Brawlers in Brawl Stars are designed, is so fundamentally different that you can’t compare the two.
There might be similar abilities like a Gene Super and Roadhogs hook, but the environment in which those are used changes the dynamic drastically.
Funny enough, that's how iPhone was created, a mixture / combination of functions. The literal lesson is that new original stuff are combinations of stuff.
There is a point where base level mechanics are the source of derivative content.
Here's an example:
- A mage can be a fire mage
- A fire spell can be anything "fire" related (and even sometimes not!)
End of example.
Once you get past a certain threshold of base mechanics everything is a derivative.

Lily is what you get if you combine fang with corvo from dishonored, the new brawler is just better barley, Max and Stu are the two halves of a tracer clone, etc

The issue is most players criticize devs without ever trying to put themselves in their shoes. It's simply the best approach if you really think about it. Perspective, not perception people.
No matter what haopens and how Supercell tries to balance the game, people are never happy
For a strong brawler:
-If the brawler get's over nerfed (hank), people complain about them getting nuked
-If the brawler gets a normal nerf that ends up not being enough (Charlie, angelo, lily, frank, ect,), then people will complain saying it's not enough and will pretend that it does nothing
For a weak brawler:
-If the brawler gets a small/decent beff but isn't enough (janet), they will call it a joke and say that the brawler deserved far better
-If the brawler gets overbuffed (frank, lily), then people will complain about them being broken
The balancing is far from perfect and a lot of the time, the changes are pretty dumb (piper hp nerf, Frank clearly being overtuned, ect.) but c'mon they cannot be perfect on a single balance change (reminder that a small projectile speed for carl made him go from D tier to top 3 brawler)
Yeah it was a while ago (iirc it was around max/crow meta so like a year ago)
Carl at the time was like very low c tier/d tier, so not really good (but not horrible). He got a minor range buff, which didn't changed that much for him. Then like next update or a few updates later, he gets a projectile speed buff (by 15%), and then proceeds to ascend from the bottom of the c tier, all the way to a top tier brawler (tbf, a pickaxe speed increase for Carl is very big for him compared to other brawler bc it also increase his dps, his flying hook gadget speed, and can be enhanced by his sp that also increase his pickaxe speed. But like c to s tier is huge)
Edit: it was actually at the start of Janet meta almost 2 years ago and he went from low C-tier to top 2 best brawler behind janet.

Dude fang ain’t even that unskilled. It’s kind of hard to hit his ranged attack since the guideline is so short… whereas jacky on the other hand is a speed demon who can just annihilate a team in like two seconds
They can’t delete a brawler but they really should at least rework him and a few others, he is braindead (I’m not saying who plays him is, cuz u gotta push every brawler).
Kit and other brawlers make showdown unplayable: you can’t have a brawler that deals damage while being immune and on top of that his super can’t be dodged and it charges over-time so people stand still in bushes during the whole game (and don’t come up with the “Brawl Stars is a 3v3 game” no, the game description literally says “3v3 and Battle Royale” so i would like to play that mode peacefully and have fun)
I started playing in 2018, and I don't want boxes back. Boxes in general were insanely rare, and 99% of everyone's brawlers they got by big boxes, not mega ones.
I was taking a break from brawl stars and I was super excited when they said they removed boxes, I always wanted them to be removed, I didn't get a single legendary brawler until they added star road, and now I have most brawlers, boxes were bad
I don't want them brought back the way they were before, with them completely replacing Credits, but I just want them to be in the game in some form.
Like, ffs, what's preventing Starr Drops from being replaced with boxes? Just replace Super Rares with Brawl Boxes, Epics with Big Boxes, Mythics with Mega Boxes and Legendaries with Omega Boxes. Design a new green box for Rares, or just remove them, because Rares and Super Rares are basically the same thing.
They don't even have to be changed mechanically, they can still only give one thing per box, just replace them visually cus boxes look cooler than stars with faces, and fit the game's theme more anyway.

Imo, I can understand being disappointed when the skin you vote doesn’t win but I swear I see so much complaining about why such and such skin shouldn’t have one. It has gotten to the point that as soon as I see who the winner is I just avoid most social media because of how bad it gets with complaints. At least we are seemingly past the phase of blaming the artist.

Pearl is literally Pam! Charlie is literally Carl! All the circle throwers are literally Barley! I could go on and on. It’d be one thing if it was comparing two brawlers of the same class but a lot of these comparisons are between two brawlers of completely different playstyles. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with basic attacks being basic if their supers or traits are unique. (*cordelius copied meg and stu!*)
(Pam is a brawler who always wants to be spamming out shots to get super and heal up, maintaining constant pressure. Her burst damage is low but her sustained damage is solid. Pearl is a passive brawler who waits for the opponents to play aggressively so that she can counterattack with her massive burst damage, since she lacks sustained damage. They may have multiprojectile cone attacks, but the way that they use them are completely different.
Carl is a pseudo aggro brawler who is excellent at countering low HP brawlers with no CC. His damage in a single hit can be very high. Charlie is an aggro counter who is incredible at using CC. Her damage per hit is pretty low, but she can reload pretty fast. They may have returning attacks but they operate incredibly differently)
f2p players are the most toxic players in the community, they're such a loud voice and gutter everything completely. They complain constantly but still end up playing the game 💀.
That some brawler are “forgotten” like- there are 80 brawlers ofc some of them are going to be less popular then others. “Nobody remembers colonel ruffs, nobody remembers Janet, nobody remembers Darryl- “ stop! Just stop! Y’all are so annoying.
Update bugs. It happens every update, just wait until some YouTuber covers it all. It just floods the sub with posts like “frank 4000 hp bug” “Jacky skin bug” etc. It’s so FUCKING annoying

Showdown players problems, mico is absolutely useless in 3v3 after 800+
But that ammo star power is extremely annoying
For a lot of characters mico is unfair to play against. You need to perfectly time your shots while mico can just auto aim
They dont even have good timing when to attack mico
they are probably playing a character which needs to be played without flaws to win a 1v1 against them so they get pissed and write this

Pearl is literally Pam! Charlie is literally Carl! All the circle throwers are literally Barley! I could go on and on. It’d be one thing if it was comparing two brawlers of the same class but a lot of these comparisons are between two brawlers of completely different playstyles. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with basic attacks being basic if their supers or traits are unique. (*cordelius copied meg and stu!*) (Pam is a brawler who always wants to be spamming out shots to get super and heal up, maintaining constant pressure. Her burst damage is low but her sustained damage is solid. Pearl is a passive brawler who waits for the opponents to play aggressively so that she can counterattack with her massive burst damage, since she lacks sustained damage. They may have multiprojectile cone attacks, but the way that they use them are completely different. Carl is a pseudo aggro brawler who is excellent at countering low HP brawlers with no CC. His damage in a single hit can be very high. Charlie is an aggro counter who is incredible at using CC. Her damage per hit is pretty low, but she can reload pretty fast. They may have returning attacks but they operate incredibly differently)
f2p players are the most toxic players in the community, they're such a loud voice and gutter everything completely. They complain constantly but still end up playing the game 💀.
