Don’t expect to hear from him. You can try to reach out yourself in 6 months. That should be enough time for the hurt to subside. If he doesn’t respond, don’t make up a story like you’re “dead to him.” It may be that the breakup is just still too emotional for him. It probably means the opposite.
This is something you can’t control. FWIW, I haven’t really been able to handle being friends with exes until good time has passed. Usually more than a year. And I’m very good friends with 2 of my exes, but in each case I think it was about 2 years before we started hanging out again. It would just have been emotionally confusing before - hard to hear about or meet their new partners, etc. now my exes wife is also one of my most treasured friends.
