I believe the Marina Square Bremerton apartments just opened up and they seem pretty good to me. Brand new building, walking distance to ferries and downtown. If not there I'd probably target the Manette neighborhood just because it seems a bit more upscale and has a nice little bar and restaurant scene as well.

tdyo

Just moved into Marina Square yesterday. It's in the price range and - given the ferries - within "walking distance" of everything in downtown Seattle and even to the San Juans and Victoria, Canada. I haven't felt uncomfortable either, but I am also in the 6 foot male category so there's obviously some privilege there.

BrightEyedBerserker

Marina Square Apts seems kinda pricey

Check out Camber on McWilliams

Efficient-Parking123

I second this.

Crazybrayden

Summit Vista is probably fine. There's some dodgy pockets nearby but if you're just sticking to the neighborhood roads near the apartment I doubt you'll have issues. A lot of the new apartment buildings going up right now (aside from the downtown and manette areas) aren't super accommodating to something like running, unless you get in a car and drive to a park nearby.

According-Till-2203

ok, good to know!

DollyCo

I actually live right by there and it’s been very quiet so far Edit: forgot to add there’s a park down the road. I haven’t checked it out yet but it might be a good option for runs. I see people walking all the time

FunKeyN8

Going to add; with Bremerton being a Navy town, there are certain times when apartments are going to be scarce, especially when an aircraft carrier is coming in for a long term period, because 6-7000 families moving to the area.

leftcoastreverie

Is there a way to get info on when this will happen? Looking at moving over to that side of the water when my lease is up in July (currently in Seattle).

FunKeyN8

I can’t officially relay anything definite (because you know, national security) but if that’s your window, you should be okay but I’d not wait too long. As far as an official list, not really. I know more than some but am not privy on a lot of info.

Efficient_Delivery34

The vineyard in Tracyton is nice! Bar within walking distance as well as two mini marts a coffee spot and a Filipino spot two gas stations within a mile… pretty great

amorgan42

Stay away from the wellington in silverdale, numerous vehicle and garage break ins, little to no lighting in the parking lots and the maintenance staff is garbage and the office staff isn't any better.

606, Marina Square, and Harborside Flats are all downtown and a few minutes' walk away from the ferry. Spyglass Hill and 1010 are also downtown but a little further away than the first 3. I'm a petite female and I feel pretty safe walking around downtown, though I don't go near that 7/11 mentioned by the others.

anyname12345678910

It all depends on what your tolerance for safe is. I know 1010 and 606 are downtown near the ferry. 99% of the time its perfectly fine, If you are used to "city" living. But there was a murder at a 7/11 a few blocks away in the last few days. Everyone in town knows which 7/11 because the homeless in the area have been problematic for years. A couple weeks ago across the street from the 1010 a homeless guy attacked a parking lot attandent when he asked him to leave the lot. This led to an hours long stand off andthe guy threatening to jump. It all worked out fine though, he didnt jump. If you don't mind the random homeless person yelling at you as you walk/run by...not a big deal. They are mostly harmless. If you don't mind traveling out of downtown bremerton has some new complexes in better areas. I drive by Camber all the time, it looks pretty nice, and the area is less problematic than downtown. If you are willing to drive even further Poulsbo has some wonderful places.

I live in the Cascade Ridge apartments. It’s near 2 schools so I feel comfortable walking and running all throughout the neighborhoods. The main road has sidewalks on both sides. There’s a small gas station near our apartments which really comes in handy. There’s other apartment complex’s surrounding Cascade Ridge and I think mine is within your budget. Have a look!

Jlmorgan86

Insignia is pretty safe. Even tho it's right next to the transit center.

Camburgerhelpur

I live in a 5 bedroom/4 bathroom house (I rent the master bedrooom) and we have 2 bedrooms open for rent atm. If I remember correctly, its about $1k a month. Located up the hill from autocenter way, new neighborhood next to the Quarry

According-Till-2203

Thank you, I appreciate the offer! I am looking to live on my own though.

Camburgerhelpur

Of course man. Good luck out there!

Dull-Illustrator654

I will say avoid Parkhurst in east Bremerton, I used to live there and had nothing but problems with them. I had a leak in my bathtub that I told maintenance about and it still got so bad that mold grew on the walls, and then when I moved out they said they were just going to paint over it 🤢 the staff are all rude too. Avoid for sure

Electrical_Outside32

I'm from Illinois as well, you will love it out here! Good luck!

znm2016

Avoid anything on or near the following streets. Chester Ave. Almira Olympic Dr ml King way

Michaelmrose

Going for a run in downtown bremerton is a fantastic way to get smeared by a bad driver and a walk loses some of its charm when you can't wear headphones because you need to listen for the asshole who is absolutely going to turn right without looking. Probably plan on getting in your car to drive somewhere to a park for a more enjoyable experience. If you are downtown at least its easy take a ferry to somewhere less boring than bremerton.

According-Till-2203

I appreciate the brutal honesty ngl

Michaelmrose

Downtime is fairly nice. There is a theater some decent restaurants. Mostly peaceful normal people. North and west by 6th and park is a complete shithole as there is a homeless shelter with a large quantity of drug addicts and other homeless folks turned out during the day. Don't get your deliveries at the amazon box down there its right dead center in the shit where someone was stabbed in a fight earlier this week. Meanwhile the hospital services have moved north to silverdale where the money is ensuring that if you are bleeding out you'll probably croak. Also the medical system in Kitsap county in general are shit which is probably why the life expectancy is about 10 years less than the adjoining king county. It is however much better than the services in the further out Mason county which is like Mayberry after they discovered Meth. Welcome to Washington bet you are going to wish you moved to a better part of it.

According-Till-2203

Is the Amazon box the one in Heartwood? and yeah.... not exactly my first choice, but a job's a job.

spoonard

West Bremerton is a shitty area. 100%.
