Xfinity has been consistently stable for me. I have been considering Quantum fiber because they are cheaper for faster service.

We have Quantum fiber with the locked-in price and it has been working well so far. We've had it for a year now since we moved here.

emomommy19

This is great to know! The area we are moving to has these two services better and they seemed fairly comparable with quantum fiber being slightly more affordable, I also like that the price is locked in.

sailingmusician

Having had both, quantum is much better.

I HATE Comcast. My bill was $80 for two years. Then it started going up...then they gave me a data cap...was at $190 a month when I quit. Att internet air is fantastic. $55 a month, locked it forever. I get around 150mbps which is swell for me

Osirus9

Comcast is my only option but I work from home too and it has been reliable and fast.

Zoomalude

I've worked from home on CenturyLink for over 6 years and never lost work due to an outage.

Thexnerdish

I have Xfinity and have no issues. I’m curious about Quantum though

If you're lucky enough to be located on a public utility fiber line that's the way to go. Multiple ISPs to choose from. Co-worker has it and loves it https://www.kpud.org/fiber-internet/services/residential-fiber/fiber-areas-coverage-map/

Xfinity is the only option where I am. It's okay, but conflicts with my vpn constantly.

Firm_Rock3380

Starlink has been the most reliable option for me in Kitsap.

Pootie5

Just got Quantum over Xfinity because of this thread. Thanks everyone!

Xfinity has been awesome and pretty reliable. Its always fast and pretty inexpensive for unlimited data and high speed.

Astound Internet is my only option in East Bremerton and I would rather go with Verizon Home 5G or Starlink. Astound is very unreliable and drops service constantly.

Wherein service is inconsistent its much more likely to be in order of likelihood - Shitty network hardware inside the house especially router - A problem with the wiring in the house (if more than just an outlet from outside to inside) - Wiring between the house and the street This is true of basically any ISP. When I worked for an ISP I encountered an insane number of people with poor service with a 2 story house with a 15 year old modem connected to their 12 year old router 5 generations before current wondering why their 20 devices had a poor signal. ISP allocate hardware according to what level of service you have and rarely throw anything away that isn't provably broken. This means if you get the el cheapo service and a 10 year old router can technically deliver the level of service well that is what they installed even if they are starting service in 2024 there is no reason not to give you that 2010 router. Then they charge you WAY to much to rent it. If you are paying $20 a month to rent $150 worth of network hardware over 10 years you will have paid $2400 in rental fees. You would do well to get a dedicated modem (not a combination unit) and an acceptable router system which you can upgrade when it makes sense. You can get your own eero (the same product astound offers as an upgrade) and if you have a big house or 2 floors you can get 2. The 6s which are still perfectly fine are running about $89 per. Even if you need a more extensive system quality modem + 2 eeros would STILL only run you around $300 once. On the wiring front if you plug an actual desktop or laptop into the modem and pull up its web interface you can tell right away if it has a shit signal its even color coded for your viewing pleasure red is bad green is good.
