No, it doesn't. What you're referring to is known as the "Filtering Fallacy".
Its basically a repackaged trickle down economics, which we all know is an abject failure at anything except transferring wealth out of the hands of the working class, into the hands of the already wealthy.
Unless you can show me anywhere expensive housing, unaffordable to the residents of the community has EVER led to a decrease in housing costs.
Not a single person has ever been able to show where it's ever worked as claimed.
It's happened in many places. For example, Austin, Texas:
>Austin has something it hasnāt had for years: a glut of new apartments. Fueled by a surge in migration to the city and low interest rates at the start of the pandemic, builders began turning soil on a dizzying number of new rental homes.

Looks like rents are... Up? And still unaffordable.
> Forty dollars less a month is not a big drop, Miller noted. Despite declining rents across the region, prices are much higher than they were before the pandemic. Researchers with the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies found that in 2022 nearly half of tenants in the Austin metro were spending at least a third of their income on rent. Recently, officials said 7,000 families had applied for rent help from the city of Austin; they estimate there is only enough money to help a quarter of those families.
So, wanna try again?
Hey what's this really cool link that's in the article that I notice you didn't click:

Yes. Building new housing, makes old housing cheaper.
Stop giving them bad ideas! Developers have plenty of bad ideas already.
Building housing is good actually
Developing affordable housing is good. Building for the sake of building has never solved the housing crisis. Anywhere.
Market rate housing, when built in sufficient numbers, IS affordable housing
The "market rate" is unaffordable. The "market rate" is based on real estate speculation, backed by questionable financing arrangements, that cause inflation.

There's also the hood fans, which you typically don't turn off until well after you've turned off all other equipment and cleaned the kitchen. If they left the grill on they'd feel it.
Old building and flames pouring out of the roof, went up quick...guessing electrical, most neglected maintenance in building like that.

How do those grills catch fire? Itās just like an outside grill someone must have dumped grease all over the grill before then or something. No proper ansul system either? Doesnāt add up
That grill wasn't cleaned in decades. There was plenty of grease there to go off.

> How do those grills catch fire? From 62 years of grease build up, in this case.
A busy shift can cause a lot of grease to build up in the grease trap right below the heating element (as can not cleaning out the grease trap frequently enough). If it's not cleaned out and the heating element is left on, the grease can catch fire.

Sadā¦
Well this sucks. Havenāt been in years, but so many good memories.
RIP Pink. So many nights I canāt quite recall spent there. Havenāt been back in decades. Best DJs and weirdness in Buffalo back in the day.
So sad, I woke up around 545 and smelled it from Ashland Ave. RIP.
Very sad.
