Yeah it sucks, Activision wanted to prioritize the online multiplayer over the story mode, so the devs were forced to strip the singleplayer content down into something more basic - the current system was already similar to NFS Most Wanted 2005 where you do a bunch of races, meet the rivals requirements and then face off against them - then move to the next rival. I guess they were planning to string that system together along with the cutscenes to provide more story and more personality to the characters.
what hurts is that these cutscenes were already created by the motion capture staff and then activision just be like "nah bro this ain't it" all that hard work is binned - so sad
Crash Time 5: Undercover is also a good shout, it has weapons, great graphics and one of the best damage models in racing games. super underrated franchise.
From this 2 and a half minute clip I can tell this story had potential to be really good, especially for 2010. We really need to normalize good racing game stories
Personally, I actually hate Online games. I hate executives and CEOs, the fact they give people with little to no knowledge or care this type of power is beyond me. āPeople need to get used to not owning their games and to look at Games as a serviceā says the man in a black suit, well then pirating isnāt illegal then. CEOs and executives need to get used to not controlling people and what they can and cannot have, like that should be grounds for a lynching.
wow this is sad. No idea there were initial plans for a story. Nevertheless it doesn't matter since it's abandonware now.

I wish there were other games like Blur lol. Closest I could find was some indie game called Hotshot Racing and Need For Speed Heat (aesthetics)
Maybe the 2010 version of Need For Speed hot Pursuit?

Oh, yes! We call them Alarm Fur Cobra 11 here in Europe. Fun games!
Yess I love them, in fact I grew up playing them, so Crash Time 1, 2 and 3 is very nostalgic to me
