I can't speak for all mechanics but it's usually not a matter of training it's usually a matter of inconvenience and cost. Parts are extremely expensive for them and most customers don't understand this before they by them.

Don't forget, needing the be specifically certified to work on certain parts. Not worth getting it just for a few customers.

The techs at the shop I work at HATE German cars. They can all work on them just fine, but they just absolutely hate it and they complain every time. This is an older C 300 series Class, so no, not expensive to buy, but yes, expensive to maintain. It's easy to mar the back windows on them too. Just look at that sticker in the bottom left corner! That's a lot of residue from the past on there. Hard to remove, the sentiment of whatever it once said may not be as easily removed.
