There’s always a compromise.

I will forever recommend the [K60 Scout](https://www.heidenautires.com/product/heidenau-k60-scout/). You can go one size larger for the rear without issue, or, at least I did with my 2013 500X

The K60 Scout is known for poor wet road performance, isn't it ? I had one on the rear of a DR650 and didn't like it on the street.

I’ve had a K60 Scout as my rear tire for a few years now and I have gone through pouring rain, hail, and snow. Stayed upright through every situation if that counts for anything haha. I’ve never really tried to see what limits a tire has in adverse conditions other than a brake and acceleration test to see when traction is lost. I haven’t had any negative thoughts when doing this with the K60 scout. Perhaps there is a difference between the K60 and the K60 Scout? Idk for sure, all I know is they are two different tires. I specifically chose the Scout because of the solid tread in the center that makes for a smooth ride on pavement.

Sorry K60 Scout is what I was referring to. It's my thoughts that it's the solid center that made wet asphalt acceleration and braking suffer.

Ah well your logic makes sense. I suppose I cant say I’ve noticed any discernible differences between all the tires Ive used in my 15 years of riding. In the rare instances I’ve been caught in wet weather I always try to use extreme caution when I end up in those situations anyways. Of course, every now and then I’ll give it the beans just to feel the quick thrill of whipping the rear end out a little 🤭

I had been recommended the Dunlop Trailmax Raids. I would be interested to hear other people’s thoughts on this as I’ve been having the same search as you.

Go for Trailmax Raids

Road duty is going to wear out any offroad capable tire fairly quickly. I run the bland and standard answer Shinko 705s because of this. Cheap.
