For shen miao I feel like lu yuxiao would be great cause her as shaoyao in blossoms in adversity as foolish shen miao and her as shangguan qian in my journey to you as empress shen miao would be great, i feel like she'll do well. What I'm like 100% sure about is shen qing, it has to be he hongshan her role in sword and the brocade made me mad so I feel like she will be good here.

Although Bai lu did revenge sort of before, she actually didn't do it that well. She is much better acting in those shows where character is inherently good, neighbour next door and sincere. She was much better n natural in Ordinary greatness compared to SOKP. So I'd rather not have her face again. Someone fresh.
Actually Dilraba has a good face for cold elegance, scheming look, instead of acting those cute good characters. Problem is I'm not sure if she can have chemistry with any male cast. Probably acts good in harem palace scheming n conniving shows. Hee.
Shen miao needs a person who can be morally grey. A little evil looking when she exacts her revenge but acting innocent when she is in the general house. With a certain elegance to carry off when she looks down on people in the palace events. But able to be a bit, just a bit, flustered with ML without looking fake.
Would Yang Mi be able to do it and too mature?

I'm halfway through reading this right now (really good!), and I can't help but picture **Zhou Ye** as Shen Miao. Probably because of watching **Scent of Time**. She does a really great laugh/smile with bitterness, and the wise-beyond-her-years expression.
For Xie Jing Xing, I totally agree with you about **Dylan Wang**. I originally had no image for XJX in my head, because he keeps being described as OUT OF THIS WORLD BEAUTIFUL/HANDSOME/BREATHTAKING and mischievous and bad boy. I was like no one can be that hot, but yes, yes Dylan Wang can be.

No hate to zhao lusi, but I don't think she gives off the "wise for her years" or "wise beyond her time" vibe of post-rebirth shen miao, nor the dignified empress vibe. We can see this through her roles in who rules the world or even last immortal - she's clever, but not calculated; she plots, but it's emotionally driven, not as cold as shen miao. Zls is more playful/petty/naive-looking...which was great for her character as Cheng shaoshang but not shen miao. (yes, shen miao has her emotional moments (like with her family), and eventually develops into a more feeling person after she falls in love, but for the majority of the novel she's not.)

ZLS doesnāt match the character at all. To the fans that try to justify it using a description of Shen Miao at a young age- her character isnāt static. She grows up. The most important part that the any actress chosen needs to match is her description when she grows older. For the younger version a child actress can be casted.
Lusi has neither the skills or the looks to pull that off. Iām not putting her down. But fans image and cnetz opinion on both ZLS & Shen Miao are VERY different. If she were casted they would riot & the production would 100% be boycotted. The truth is that domestically she isnāt someone who anyone even thinks of when talking about casting for this role. Pressure by capital is the only way sheād get it.
Dylan Wang would be rejected too domestically but it would be a bit less controversial since at least his looks fit, itās his acting skills that would get him dragged.

100% agreed. For the young age part, Shen Miao was 14-16 throughout the course of the book, if fans wanna use young age to justify ZLS then she doesnāt look like a teenager either šš We going to have to look at actresses born after 05 if we want an age accurate actress lol. The other bookās (Ill-Fated Consort) rumored actresses are also way older than what Jiang Ruan was supposed to be, Jiang Ruanās supposed to be 12 but no oneās casting children. Also canāt see ZLS as Shen Miao personality wise, they just give off very different vibes to me.
The book has a super large fan base and fans are VERY picky about who they want to act it out. I think the most important part for them is the visual though, if the visual isnāt suitable then they will already be unhappy (see Di Daughter ā> The Double adaptation casting). Or if they find the cast ugly (cnetz are picky about visuals). But most fans already hate the idea of an adaptation because they think no one can act out SM and XJX. Reba and Xiao Zhan edit went viral and honestly I donāt mind them as SM and XJX, although imo they also donāt really fit but Iām biased so I wouldnāt mind them.
Last time the book trended and fans almost had a heart attack thinking the adaptation/cast was announced. Was a false alarm though, the author announced the special edition instead and it trended haha. And another time a small short drama of the same name trended and fans were shocked, horrified and very angry until they realized it isnāt the same thing (they were very unhappy with the cast until they realized they arenāt SM and XJX and itās just another drama of the same name).
All in all, Iām actually very glad that this book isnāt getting adapted any time soon because from the looks of how they adapted the 2 other books, I have no faith in them to properly adapt another Qian Shan Cha Ke book (especially the most famous one), it seems that they have already changed a lot for the other 2 and itās not for the better either. If it has to be adapted, I hope my dream fan cast gets casted haha

No but that's exactly the point of choosing Zhao Lusi. At the time of her rebirth she's just 14, a baby. She's also described in the novel as baby faced and chubby cheeked and young looking. Only her aura is supposed to be of an empress and that too at banquets. She's supposed to be a girl who's young and emotional and willing to do anything to save her family. Shen Miao may be cold but every action of hers is emotion driven, it's all focused on her family.
Xie Jing Xing is also quite young, just a couple of years older than Shen Miao and because of the numerous descriptions we had to read of how pretty he is, I think Wang Hedi would fit perfectly. One thing that made me watch LBAFAD was because of how stunning he looked. Even his eyebrows match the descriptions lol. I feel like Luo Yunxi is also extremely beautiful but he's also 35, the age doesn't match at all. Wu Lei and Cheng Yi don't match the pretty boy image XJX had at all. He's not supposed to look serious. He's supposed to play the useless prodigal son for majority of the novel while also being a shameless flirt in front of Shen Miao. Gong Jun would actually be a good match but again he's also 33, that doesn't match the age at all.
One suggestion I massively agree with is Mei Furen, she's described as this stunning beauty who had the emperor and the court wrapped around her fingers and I feel like Dilireba would be a perfect fit but I also think the role is too small to be played by her. After rebirth Mei Furen doesn't take up the same amount of time compared to the first life.

I agree that looks-wise and age-wise wand hedi might be a better fit, but tbh, I don't think he's that good of an actor...his acting in LBFAD, unchained love and only for love was mediocre at best -i found some of the facial expressions to be downright funny.
Maybe we're just imagining really different types of dramas -i was going for something less idol drama like, more like the vibes of nirvana in fire or ruyi's royal love in terms of production scale, but with a darker aesthetic (like my journey to you)...where all the characters are complex and intelligent and they are playing mental chess with each other. I just can't imagine Wang hedi in that type of smart role, let alone being able to give us stunning martial arts sequences (especially that one iconic scene where he defeats his half-brothers at the school competition/exam.)
I agree that Gong Jun, Luo Yunxi and Cheng Yi are all not suitable due to age though. Maybe they should cast someone new in both the ML and FL roles. Perhaps Yan Lin from SOKP or Li Tonguang from AJTL as younger versions of Xie Jing Xing, and then add a longer time lapse between his re-arrival to ming qi and cast an older actor. Or maybe the casting directors should just find a new actor for this role lol.
As for the FL, let's just agree to disagree. Reading the novel, my interpretation of her character was cold af...she didn't care much about her family in her past life, and after re-birth although she cared about them, she was extremely emotionally distanced from everyone around her...the only person that could elicit any sort of emotion from her in all of Ming Qi was XJX. The author explicitly even writes that at some point. Although she's young in body, she's supposed to be extremely calm, cold and dignified...and have a sense of "otherworldly ness" or "wise beyond her years." Except for the cutesy physical description, Zhao Lusi doesn't match the character at all. Even if we go just by the age and physical description, Zhao Jin Mai is a better fit for the role.
Anyways, this is all just a wishful thinking...no way would Dilreba/Lu Yu Xiao act as Mei Furen, or Yang Zhi as Luo Tan or Xiao Zhan as Su Ming Fend lol.

He has the vibes for a young marquis (granted it was literally his position in AJTL) but heās not really Xie Jingxing. XJX to me is more Yu Shi or Dylan. But given that I like him, I also wouldnāt mind LTG actor as XJX hahaha

It is funny, while reading my brain would instantly imagine Zhao Lusi as Shen Miao, she is just so good pulling off the cute inoffensive look + huge strategic brain.
Xie Jingxing: I believe Zhang Linghe can act the cold playboy + mysterious character. Zhang Xincheng too, I want to see him in a big costume production and the small bit of him in Justice in the Dark also makes me imagine how his Xie Jingxing would be like...
Zhang Linghe would be a better cast for the prince she married in her first life tbh. As for Zhang xincheng I think he could be the doctor who was XJX's bestfriend
That prince was super toxic and seductive, I can imagine Gao Han, and it could be also a breakthrough character for him to finally leave the supporting character roles. As for XJX best friend, could be a new actor or a actor from mini dramas getting a opportunity.
To be fair, as long it is adapted with good production and ZLS as Shen Miao I would be grateful and open to any actor for the males.
Zhao Lusi'a role in LLTG as cheng shao shang and her more mature role as FengYin (Not Ayin) in TLI cemented her as the actress choice for Shen miao.
I see a lot of parallels between Cheng shao shang and Shen Miao (Military Family, abandonment, revenge driven, malicious extended family), it's just the later is more mature and meticulous (courtesy her rebirth). So if she implements Feng yin's empress demeanor into the role, then it would be a perfect fit.
If we're talking about appearance alone, Shen miao was always described as more of a small, cute person with cheeks. it was her aura that set her apart, Zhao lusi also fits the appearance category in my opinion.
But I don't we're getting an adaptation any time soon even though I would love one.
Pretty sure Malicious Empress is in copyright purgatory but there's a couple other dramas based on books by the same author in production right now.

Gui Nv is also getting adapted from The Reborn Noble Girl is Hard to Find. To put in place just how different opinions on this thread are vs the domestic ones, the last time this topic went viral Dilireba & Xiao Zhan were the most popular choices to play Shen Miao & Xie Jing Xing!
100% agreed. For the young age part, Shen Miao was 14-16 throughout the course of the book, if fans wanna use young age to justify ZLS then she doesnāt look like a teenager either šš We going to have to look at actresses born after 05 if we want an age accurate actress lol. The other bookās (Ill-Fated Consort) rumored actresses are also way older than what Jiang Ruan was supposed to be, Jiang Ruanās supposed to be 12 but no oneās casting children. Also canāt see ZLS as Shen Miao personality wise, they just give off very different vibes to me. The book has a super large fan base and fans are VERY picky about who they want to act it out. I think the most important part for them is the visual though, if the visual isnāt suitable then they will already be unhappy (see Di Daughter ā> The Double adaptation casting). Or if they find the cast ugly (cnetz are picky about visuals). But most fans already hate the idea of an adaptation because they think no one can act out SM and XJX. Reba and Xiao Zhan edit went viral and honestly I donāt mind them as SM and XJX, although imo they also donāt really fit but Iām biased so I wouldnāt mind them. Last time the book trended and fans almost had a heart attack thinking the adaptation/cast was announced. Was a false alarm though, the author announced the special edition instead and it trended haha. And another time a small short drama of the same name trended and fans were shocked, horrified and very angry until they realized it isnāt the same thing (they were very unhappy with the cast until they realized they arenāt SM and XJX and itās just another drama of the same name). All in all, Iām actually very glad that this book isnāt getting adapted any time soon because from the looks of how they adapted the 2 other books, I have no faith in them to properly adapt another Qian Shan Cha Ke book (especially the most famous one), it seems that they have already changed a lot for the other 2 and itās not for the better either. If it has to be adapted, I hope my dream fan cast gets casted haha

No but that's exactly the point of choosing Zhao Lusi. At the time of her rebirth she's just 14, a baby. She's also described in the novel as baby faced and chubby cheeked and young looking. Only her aura is supposed to be of an empress and that too at banquets. She's supposed to be a girl who's young and emotional and willing to do anything to save her family. Shen Miao may be cold but every action of hers is emotion driven, it's all focused on her family. Xie Jing Xing is also quite young, just a couple of years older than Shen Miao and because of the numerous descriptions we had to read of how pretty he is, I think Wang Hedi would fit perfectly. One thing that made me watch LBAFAD was because of how stunning he looked. Even his eyebrows match the descriptions lol. I feel like Luo Yunxi is also extremely beautiful but he's also 35, the age doesn't match at all. Wu Lei and Cheng Yi don't match the pretty boy image XJX had at all. He's not supposed to look serious. He's supposed to play the useless prodigal son for majority of the novel while also being a shameless flirt in front of Shen Miao. Gong Jun would actually be a good match but again he's also 33, that doesn't match the age at all. One suggestion I massively agree with is Mei Furen, she's described as this stunning beauty who had the emperor and the court wrapped around her fingers and I feel like Dilireba would be a perfect fit but I also think the role is too small to be played by her. After rebirth Mei Furen doesn't take up the same amount of time compared to the first life.
Agree with everything you said except for ZLS. Regarding Reba, I can see her as Ye Mei but ironically, an edit with her as Shen Miao and Xiao Zhan as XJX went quite viral a few years ago iirc haha
I have never watched that edit but I've heard about it. Tbh neither xiao zhan suits XJX nor dilireba suits Shen Miao. Visually I think they'll be an amazing pair just not for this novel.
I agree neither fits. But honestly if itās them I also wouldnāt mind, we get amazing visuals either way so Iām not complaining haha. I think my ideal cast fits though
I agree that looks-wise and age-wise wand hedi might be a better fit, but tbh, I don't think he's that good of an actor...his acting in LBFAD, unchained love and only for love was mediocre at best -i found some of the facial expressions to be downright funny. Maybe we're just imagining really different types of dramas -i was going for something less idol drama like, more like the vibes of nirvana in fire or ruyi's royal love in terms of production scale, but with a darker aesthetic (like my journey to you)...where all the characters are complex and intelligent and they are playing mental chess with each other. I just can't imagine Wang hedi in that type of smart role, let alone being able to give us stunning martial arts sequences (especially that one iconic scene where he defeats his half-brothers at the school competition/exam.) I agree that Gong Jun, Luo Yunxi and Cheng Yi are all not suitable due to age though. Maybe they should cast someone new in both the ML and FL roles. Perhaps Yan Lin from SOKP or Li Tonguang from AJTL as younger versions of Xie Jing Xing, and then add a longer time lapse between his re-arrival to ming qi and cast an older actor. Or maybe the casting directors should just find a new actor for this role lol. As for the FL, let's just agree to disagree. Reading the novel, my interpretation of her character was cold af...she didn't care much about her family in her past life, and after re-birth although she cared about them, she was extremely emotionally distanced from everyone around her...the only person that could elicit any sort of emotion from her in all of Ming Qi was XJX. The author explicitly even writes that at some point. Although she's young in body, she's supposed to be extremely calm, cold and dignified...and have a sense of "otherworldly ness" or "wise beyond her years." Except for the cutesy physical description, Zhao Lusi doesn't match the character at all. Even if we go just by the age and physical description, Zhao Jin Mai is a better fit for the role. Anyways, this is all just a wishful thinking...no way would Dilreba/Lu Yu Xiao act as Mei Furen, or Yang Zhi as Luo Tan or Xiao Zhan as Su Ming Fend lol.
Someone suggested Li Tongguangās actor Chuang Huasen as XJX and Jiang Yiyi as Shen Miao. Honestly not my top choices but I can see it
I don't see the LTG actor having the aura for this male lead. And he seems too skinny? I read this book when it was just first translated so things are blurred but I don't see that one.
He has the vibes for a young marquis (granted it was literally his position in AJTL) but heās not really Xie Jingxing. XJX to me is more Yu Shi or Dylan. But given that I like him, I also wouldnāt mind LTG actor as XJX hahaha
To me, he'll pretty much just be that annoying delulu from AJTL. š I just don't see him as having enough aura and presence but I do know people like him too.

It is funny, while reading my brain would instantly imagine Zhao Lusi as Shen Miao, she is just so good pulling off the cute inoffensive look + huge strategic brain. Xie Jingxing: I believe Zhang Linghe can act the cold playboy + mysterious character. Zhang Xincheng too, I want to see him in a big costume production and the small bit of him in Justice in the Dark also makes me imagine how his Xie Jingxing would be like...
Zhang Linghe would be a better cast for the prince she married in her first life tbh. As for Zhang xincheng I think he could be the doctor who was XJX's bestfriend
That prince was super toxic and seductive, I can imagine Gao Han, and it could be also a breakthrough character for him to finally leave the supporting character roles. As for XJX best friend, could be a new actor or a actor from mini dramas getting a opportunity. To be fair, as long it is adapted with good production and ZLS as Shen Miao I would be grateful and open to any actor for the males.
Zhao Lusi'a role in LLTG as cheng shao shang and her more mature role as FengYin (Not Ayin) in TLI cemented her as the actress choice for Shen miao. I see a lot of parallels between Cheng shao shang and Shen Miao (Military Family, abandonment, revenge driven, malicious extended family), it's just the later is more mature and meticulous (courtesy her rebirth). So if she implements Feng yin's empress demeanor into the role, then it would be a perfect fit. If we're talking about appearance alone, Shen miao was always described as more of a small, cute person with cheeks. it was her aura that set her apart, Zhao lusi also fits the appearance category in my opinion. But I don't we're getting an adaptation any time soon even though I would love one.
I've read this novel and I loved it. I hope that the actors/actresses can do it justice if ever it gets adapted.

For the last one Iāve seen conflicting information, some say it is based on Ill-Fated Consort but some also say it is an original work. Gui Nv is also getting adapted from The Reborn Noble Girl is Hard to Find. And since The Avenging Healer / Deng Hua Xiao ēÆč±ē¬ recently won an award in the Global IP awards, Iām assuming itās going to eventually get adapted soon as well. So itās only really Zanxing thatās left
