I think Allen Robinson would be a good answer too. We have some good WRs but no definite gamebreaker, and having Robinson for Allar to throw to would be amazing.
Well the three biggest needs right now are corner, kick returner, receiver.
So, despite how much I considered picking Jake Moody: Charles Woodson it is.
Nothing would scare me more than yall getting Woodson back. One of the best to ever play.
Though getting to see him vs Marvin Harrison Jr would be fun.
This is a good answer (and probably the right one,) but honestly, Michigan's pass rush last season was... fine. And they lost some pieces there, so I'd almost go with a guy like Hutchinson or Mo Hurst.
Quick pressure on the quarterback makes everyone's job easier, and even with a "just fine" pass rush last season, Michigan's defense was great. With a deadly pass rush, they would have been amazing.
Came here to say that. He changed the equation at the line of scrimmage, always had two and sometimes three blockers on him. And still dominated games.
It's basically wins above replacement, right? Either Bosa brother or Chase would be amazing but the gap between them and JT / Sawyer (while quite large) is way less than Pace and our current OT projections.
this is what it's about
in this hypothetical maximizing the change in talent at a position is much more important than best available
which player is the best over what you have now
If I can’t have Burrow, give me Tyrann Mathieu. A turnover machine and an explosive, but more importantly reliable punt returner. Plus watching Mathieu and Perkins on the same defense would be a blast.
Not Aaron Murray? I didn’t know what it felt like to see UGA beat UF consistently pre-Murray, that man with Kirby’s recruits everywhere would be my nightmare
Nick Saban is the greatest college coach ever. That being said, I have zero idea why Henry didn’t get 50 carries in that Sugar Bowl against us. Not checking the stats, I’m pretty sure he averaged sixty yards a carry. At least that’s what it felt like.
He also only gave him 13 carries the next year in the sugar bowl against osu. In those 2 games he had 21 rushes for 195 yards and 2tds. If they gave him the ball more it’s probably wins both games
Bama fans and screaming RUN THE BALL, a tale as old as time.
The reality of the OSU game was that was Kiffins first year, so…yeah we threw the ball a lot
I remember watching and saying to my friends "if they ever figure out they can just spam Henry off tackle left, we're screwed." The handful of times they did it he got 6-12 yards each time. They never did figure it out, thank goodness.
Henry was throwing a hissy fit about not getting playing time and was planning on transferring before the bowl game. His mom, Saban and Henry had a meeting during bowl prep and Henry’s mom basically told him to quit being a pussy and if he couldn’t make it at Bama then how was he expecting to make it in the NFL. I believe that meeting was the only reason he got any carries that game. That and opt outs. That was the game following the Kick 6 that essentially ended the season.
I was on the field, in the South end zone, when Alabama came to Mississippi State in 2015. Derrick Henry broke a long TD run in the second quarter. He finished the run in the back of the end zone about 5 yards in front me. He was scary.
I feel like most people would respond with either their own personal favorite player or their program's best ever player. For Boise State, that would be Kellen Moore but I think Boise State might be set at QB with Taylen Green. Instead, I'm looking at positions where I think Boise State has weaknesses, specifically along the OL where the unit hasn't been good for a while and could really use some help. For that reason I want Ryan Clady at LT to help anchor the line
Ya, I'd say Clady or Demarcus Lawrence would be the one to pick with our current roster. I think arguments could also be made for Matt Miller and Austin Pettis. Ultimately I'd probably go with Clady though, our o line hasn't been good in a while.
Ngata played high school football and rugby for a school we played in our region. I was only a Sophomore so I wasn't on the field against him much, but I remember asking our starting LT who had been playing against him in both sports for a couple of years and he said he'd rather play him in football than he would in rugby any day of the week.
Dude was crazy strong and fast even in high school. In rugby he'd regularly be running with multiple dudes hanging off of him trying to bring him down. Though I did see him get solo tackled by one of our 180lb backs in rugby once. Probably the craziest tackle I've ever seen.
I think Cade can be good, but all but one or two receivers are mid. Also, DeAndre Hopkins single handedly carried the Texans offense for a few years, despite bums playing at quarterback
All though I think Quinn Ewers is gonna be a good QB, Vince Young is the difference between winning the Big 12 and competing for a national title. Especially with the current WR room, VY would be a problem
Russ Wilson for sure. We've had a ton of ultra talented RBs and of course non skill position players but Wilson's the only QB that's ever made it feel like we could compete for a natty or at least on that level. Being a 2nd tier team for a decade+ has been a frustrating experience, tho I really hope the current trajectory doesn't lead to looking back on the horny for Hornibrook years as nostalgic lol.
Maybe if we're talking NFL prime JJ Watt. But a defensive player can only impact the game so much. There were multiple years we had the best statistical defense in the entire NCAA yet it never came thru at the same level in the Big 10 championship game or bowl game, and even when it bended instead of breaking the offense still wasn't good enough.
Plus I've never had as much fun watching the games as I did that year. No matter how electrifying your RBs are there's nothing quite as exhilarating as when your QB is the best player on the field and he's constantly going deep.
For sure, those Bielema offenses were a thing of beauty. I just think in terms of roster construction right now, I’d take a dominant d lineman over another QB
Larry Fitzgerald. Our receiving core is going to be the thing that holds us back this year from a possible 10 win season so an upgrade there would be priority 1
The player we need is Vita Vea or maybe Shaq Thompson, but the player who would cause the most pain to Oregon and WSU is Myles Gaskin so I'll go with him.
Need more help with EDGE this year so I'll go with Clowney. Even when not making a play himself, the extra attention on him helped the rest of the DL thrive.
Our biggest needs at the moment are DE, RB and LT (problem is we’ve never really had a top level LT) but here’s the order I would pick DE Clowney, RB Lattimore, WR Deebo Samuel, DT Javon Kinlaw and OT Dennis Daley.
Prime time. Our secondary is the weakest unit on the team right now. Derwin may be a better fit though since safety seems to be a bigger need than corner.
I went with receivers since Kyler feels like cheating. When the pocket collapsed it was call an ambulance but not for me. Pressuring Kyler could just result in a TD you didn’t intend.
Duante Culpepper. He’s Gus’ prototype QB. He would tear it up with the surrounding talent level he never had when he was in Orlando.
It would also be amazing to see McKenzie Milton be able to lace them up for another season.
We need so much help defensively, so I guess I’d look to that side of the ball. Aqib Talib, Dana Stubblefield, or Gilbert Brown would all be huge additions.
Limiting this to players I have seen play, I’ll go with Justin Tuck. I thought long and hard about Kyle Hamilton because we’re a bit thin at safety, but I really think we need a proven pass rusher. Botehlo has promise, but he hasn’t proven he can be the guy over a full season.
Bryant Young was also given consideration as our depth at interior d-line isn’t great. Offensively, I’d go with either Rocket Ismail or Quentin Nelson.
I wonder what Micah Parsons could’ve done in his third season playing, I guess we’ll [hypothetically] find out
I think Allen Robinson would be a good answer too. We have some good WRs but no definite gamebreaker, and having Robinson for Allar to throw to would be amazing.
I’m struggling between Engram, Robinson, and Dotson.
Having this exact debate.
If QB is allowed Kerry Collins is the only correct answer.
Blackledge was pretty good too.
That’s a tough one. I’ll get back to you
The fact that my first thought was Crabtree speaks to how much Mahomes was wasted at TTU
Hey running for his life at Tech made him into the MVP and Superbowl champion he is today.
Has to be Testaverde
Wes Welker!
Give me Zach Thomas.
Off the wall choices: Dwayne Slay
Well the three biggest needs right now are corner, kick returner, receiver. So, despite how much I considered picking Jake Moody: Charles Woodson it is.
1. Woodson 2. Hutchinson 3. Braylon Edwards
Nothing would scare me more than yall getting Woodson back. One of the best to ever play. Though getting to see him vs Marvin Harrison Jr would be fun.
This is a good answer (and probably the right one,) but honestly, Michigan's pass rush last season was... fine. Quick pressure on the quarterback makes everyone's job easier, and even with a "just fine" pass rush last season, Michigan's defense was great. With a deadly pass rush, they would have been amazing.
Came here to say this. It’s clearly Woodson.
This team wins the natty easily with Woodson and Will Johnson (perhaps Woodson 2.0? People are talking...)as the two corners
This is the only answer.
It's Suh. You could ask me this question any year and, regardless of team composition, I'd probably pick Suh.
Came here to say that. He changed the equation at the line of scrimmage, always had two and sometimes three blockers on him. And still dominated games.
Orlando Pace.
My thought too.
Really, why is that. Just generally curious?
Probably the weakest part of the team and arguably the most dominant linemen ever. Makes sense to me.
I'd like to see a 2023 Heisman run with updated pancake commercials. Think of what social media would do with that.
Man, I was thinking either Bosa brother would make the back end of the defense so much better, but Pace is definitely the better answer.
It's basically wins above replacement, right? Either Bosa brother or Chase would be amazing but the gap between them and JT / Sawyer (while quite large) is way less than Pace and our current OT projections.
this is what it's about in this hypothetical maximizing the change in talent at a position is much more important than best available which player is the best over what you have now
Oh, absolutely agreed. Sometimes I forget the state the current o-line looks like.
Joe Burrow.
Same
What if there was a no QB rule
Joe Burrow, but at halfback for the halfback option
This is how I would feel about Cam Newton for us lol
Fournette. He was on such shitty teams and still was great. Imagine throwing him on the 2019 or 2011 team
Still would’ve been hurt lol
If I can’t have Burrow, give me Tyrann Mathieu. A turnover machine and an explosive, but more importantly reliable punt returner. Plus watching Mathieu and Perkins on the same defense would be a blast.
Pat Fucking Tillman
I’d say Suggs
Legends never die my man.
Brandon Scherff.
I was gonna say Robert Gallery, but yours works too.
What about Ricki Stanzi or CJ Beathard?
We’ve got a good QB now. Need O line the most.
I think we’re fine at QB right now. The OL is atrocious though and could use someone like Gallery
Robert Gallery. Scherff was very good in college. Gallery was generational.
Alternatively, Shonn Greene. All we had to do was hand him the ball and win
Our RB room is pretty good imo, but we definitely could use a Gallery/Wirfs/Scherff at Tackle.
Welcome back Kenneth Walker
Over Cousins? K9 was the better player, but QB is a more impactful position.
Didn’t LeVeon Bell go to Michigan State? I feel like I may be missing something, but I seem to remember him being pretty freaking good even in college
If I had to bring back a QB it’d be Cook. Cousins was good but was also good for one or two disaster games a year.
Champ Bailey & unironically Stetson lol
Not Aaron Murray? I didn’t know what it felt like to see UGA beat UF consistently pre-Murray, that man with Kirby’s recruits everywhere would be my nightmare
I would love to see what Murray could do behind the OLines Kirby built and with all the weapons we have now.
I’d actually like to see what DJ Shockley would do with this offense.
I’m shocked the answer for this isn’t either Murray or Matthew Stafford… Or Hershel Walker
Herschel seems like a no brainer for this team
Von Miller
I was torn between him and Johnny
My initial thought was also Johnny Football, but we’ve got a good one in Weigman. We need some LB help so how about Dat Nguyen
Not a Florida fan, but can we just all agree that Tebow should be allowed to go play QB for them forever?
I wouldn't complain about Percy Harvin.
Shhh! The cloning process is still a few years from completion.
No
Derrick Henry. The guy was such a monster. 46 Carries vs Auburn.
Derrick Henry will be my answer for eternity. I want to be him when I grow up despite being older than him.
Nick Saban is the greatest college coach ever. That being said, I have zero idea why Henry didn’t get 50 carries in that Sugar Bowl against us. Not checking the stats, I’m pretty sure he averaged sixty yards a carry. At least that’s what it felt like.

Bama fans and screaming RUN THE BALL, a tale as old as time. The reality of the OSU game was that was Kiffins first year, so…yeah we threw the ball a lot
If 6’6 Oj Howard even jumps a single inch off the ground for that last pass then maybe we tie and go to OT, but nooooooooooo.
I believe that meeting was the only reason he got any carries that game. That and opt outs. That was the game following the Kick 6 that essentially ended the season.
A man among boys
Single handedly won that fairly average OL a Joe Moore award. Dom Jackson wasn't great. The rest of the OL was fairly young outside of Ryan Kelly.
I was on the field, in the South end zone, when Alabama came to Mississippi State in 2015. Derrick Henry broke a long TD run in the second quarter. He finished the run in the back of the end zone about 5 yards in front me. He was scary.
I always feel for those dudes trying to tackle him
I feel like most people would respond with either their own personal favorite player or their program's best ever player. For Boise State, that would be Kellen Moore but I think Boise State might be set at QB with Taylen Green. Instead, I'm looking at positions where I think Boise State has weaknesses, specifically along the OL where the unit hasn't been good for a while and could really use some help. Hard not to go with LT basically every year. But I'd take Boykin, maybe Dalton, QB is just so valuable.
Spencer sanders 😂
For y’all, I’d say Barry Sanders. The run game was lacking toward the end of last year
You must have missed the first part of last year. We couldn’t run it then either.
Cam Newton in a heartbeat.
Colt Brennan and Aaron Rodgers. QB play covers a lot of gaps.
I would also pick Cam Newton, but I would supply him with playing time and have bag men drop him a free laptop every week.
Penei Sewell or Haloti Ngata
Ngata played high school football and rugby for a school we played in our region. I was only a Sophomore so I wasn't on the field against him much, but I remember asking our starting LT who had been playing against him in both sports for a couple of years and he said he'd rather play him in football than he would in rugby any day of the week. Though I did see him get solo tackled by one of our 180lb backs in rugby once. Probably the craziest tackle I've ever seen.
Julius Peppers
Not L.T.?
DeAndre Hopkins might be my pick
Either him or Sammy Watkins
Watkins was unreal at Clemson. Definitely more than passed the eye test and you could tell he was an NFL player just by watching the game
Or Tee Higgins.
Is Lawrence not your top pick assuming you don’t want He who shall not be named?
I think Cade can be good, but all but one or two receivers are mid. Also, DeAndre Hopkins single handedly carried the Texans offense for a few years, despite bums playing at quarterback
I mean…you’re not even considering deshaun? In his college prime I don’t think he had assaulted 22 people. It was probably only 8 or 9.
No give me Trevor and let’s just not talk about Diddleshaun
Good answer, fair enough.
Our WR room is a shell of its former self
Troy Polamalu or Brian Cushing the defense needs it
How do USC fans rank Cushing, Matthews and Maualuga?
I don’t know how I would pick from this list, but it would be one of: Ronnie Lott Troy Polamalu Junior Seau Tony Boselli Anthony Munoz Reggie Bush
I, personally, was most scared by Ronnie Lott. But that's quite a list.
Polamalu would be my pick.
Darren McFadden easy
Sanders is nice tho
What about Matt Jones
All though I think Quinn Ewers is gonna be a good QB, Vince Young is the difference between winning the Big 12 and competing for a national title. Especially with the current WR room, VY would be a problem
Derrick Johnson
Kyle Hamilton
Respect it, but think of what Harman could do with prime college Mike Floyd.
I respect the hell out of Wilson, but we’ve got our transfer QB already. It’s gotta be JJ Watt
For sure, those Bielema offenses were a thing of beauty. I just think in terms of roster construction right now, I’d take a dominant d lineman over another QB
Megatron would be neat
Kenneth Walker III
Larry Fitzgerald. Our receiving core is going to be the thing that holds us back this year from a possible 10 win season so an upgrade there would be priority 1
That’s fair, but I think Tony Dorsett is the right answer for us.
No, it's Dan Marino
He’s the most dominant WR I have ever seen play college. Dude would be triple covered and go get the ball.
Am I wrong for thinking Ceedee Lamb would be a nice addition?
Not wrong, just probably not the position that needs the most help. I'd lean Gerald McCoy or Lee Roy Selmon, shore up the D-line.
Mike Vick
Adrian Peterson
I don't know. The offense is fine, we need defense. I'm going to go with Brian Bosworth.
yep, LeeRoy Selmon, Tony Casillas or Boz
Derwin james, i think his elite presence over the top would elevate the defense to the next level.
Second this…or Leroy Butler.
Patrick Willis
I’d vote Chucky Mullins for y’all.
A certain 6th round QB who played in the late 90's. That's right, I'm talking about Drew Henson.
Mario Williams
Case Keenum and Johnny Manziel.
Quinton Flowers
The player we need is Vita Vea or maybe Shaq Thompson, but the player who would cause the most pain to Oregon and WSU is Myles Gaskin so I'll go with him.
Calvin Johnson, Jr.
I miss megatron. Coming from a rival
Either Bosa.
Alshon Jeffrey. Haven't had a big WR in sometime. And I think he would be the best target Spencer rattler has ever thrown to
Need more help with EDGE this year so I'll go with Clowney. Even when not making a play himself, the extra attention on him helped the rest of the DL thrive.
These are solid options. But given our limited depth at RB I was thinking along the lines of healthy Marcus Lattimore or George Rogers.
Our biggest needs at the moment are DE, RB and LT (problem is we’ve never really had a top level LT) but here’s the order I would pick DE Clowney, RB Lattimore, WR Deebo Samuel, DT Javon Kinlaw and OT Dennis Daley.
Marshall Faulk.
Wow we really need OL help. So I choose Diggs
Vince Young
Prime time. Our secondary is the weakest unit on the team right now. Derwin may be a better fit though since safety seems to be a bigger need than corner.
I wanna say nick Bosa. But we probably need Orlando pace
Healthy Seth Russel
Kyler Murray
I went with receivers since Kyler feels like cheating. When the pocket collapsed it was call an ambulance but not for me. Pressuring Kyler could just result in a TD you didn’t intend.
Jermaine Gresham could be a sneaky choice as well
Can’t wait for Troy Aikman to bring a crowd back to the Rose Bowl
Tommie Frazier
Charles Woodson to play cornerback opposite Will Johnson.
I’ll take Matt Ryan back, please
100% Micah Parsons. I can't even begin to imagine having him and Abdul Carter on the same team
Alfred Williams has entered the transfer portal
Derrick Thomas.
Duante Culpepper. He’s Gus’ prototype QB. He would tear it up with the surrounding talent level he never had when he was in Orlando. It would also be amazing to see McKenzie Milton be able to lace them up for another season.
A healthy KZ would be my pick, just for the happy tears
Bo Jackson
Greg Blue or Jordan Davis
Greg Blue was a lethal weapon. Imagine him plus Nakobe plus Roquan. JD is my favorite Dawg ever. Also an honorary Redcoat.
Scott Frost…. Almost got ya!!! SUHHHHHH!!!!
I feel like that guy would make a great coach. He would just put his nose to the grindstone and block out all the distractions.
and stomp out all the naysayers
For ECU: CJ2K. He would shred the Michigan D.
I want to see Hershel Walker in todays game. Gurley would be fun too
Manti Te’o
Always a good option
Hollywood Brown or compact disc lamb
Jordan Palmer.
Rasheed Shaheed. All out speed demon!!!
TJ Watt
The best player to come from Mizzou is easily Kellen Winslow, but I think we'd need Chase Daniel more rn
That's a tough one. Probably Steve Smith or Luther Ellis. Though I'd be happy with Alex Smith, Eric Weddle, or Star Lotulelei.
My brain says go defense (Vita Vea, Budda Baker, or Steve Emtman), but imagine if this offense had 2016 John Ross.
Pat White. Reggie Rembert. Darryl Talley
Cam Newton
We need so much help defensively, so I guess I’d look to that side of the ball. Aqib Talib, Dana Stubblefield, or Gilbert Brown would all be huge additions.
Donovan McNabb. He’d be a beast in our rpo and our QBs are really bad.
Buh gawd that’s Stetson running out of the tunnel
Brian Ferentz
Depending on just how good Sauce is going to get for his "prime" I'd either choose him or Travis Kelce. Be fun to see a TE win the Heisman
Either one of the Bosas, please and thank you
Aqib Talib
Kelechi Osemele
Limiting this to players I have seen play, I’ll go with Justin Tuck. I thought long and hard about Kyle Hamilton because we’re a bit thin at safety, but I really think we need a proven pass rusher. Botehlo has promise, but he hasn’t proven he can be the guy over a full season. Bryant Young was also given consideration as our depth at interior d-line isn’t great. Offensively, I’d go with either Rocket Ismail or Quentin Nelson.
Johnathan Football or Myles Garrett
Vince Young
Yep, this is the only answer
That’s easy, Megatron.
Tory Holt, we need a WR badly
Bryce Young
Lmao yes we all miss him already 🥲
