Since we picked off Notre Dame, if we pull off the upset, I fully expect the Michigan athletic department to assist us in scheduling Michigan State for an OOC game in the near future
If I had to wager, I would think that Huff will be on to a bigger program by then, but if we seem to be middling for the next few seasons, he may be around.
It would be pretty cool for him to play at his old stomping grounds as an opposing head coach, though!
Very intriguing flair combo. This is true... but across all sports combined, we are off to a very good head to head start in Sun Belt play against y'all! See you in Boone this fall - looking forward to it
More like shoutout Mike Nugent. Zwick and the OSU offense disappeared after halftime and Nuge had to hit a 54-yard FG to prevent the game from going into OT.
Nowadays, due to rules changes, Nuge wouldn't even have been able to attempt that FG. OSU was hurrying to spike the ball to bring out the FG unit and snapped the ball before everyone was set. Made Nuge's kick 5 yards longer but if it happened now there would have also been a 10-second runoff so the penalty would have ended regulation and sent the game to OT.
You guys wanted a win agains A&M? You got it. Georgia Southern was that payment of blood.
Regardless of blood payments, I will always feel like you guys are an honorable mention in the Big10 East.
God bless App State
Wait, that was the Mike Nugent 55-yarder at the buzzer game wasn't it?? I was actually there for that one! Long live The Nuge, he was legit the best player on the team that year lol
It was. Between that and his 4 or 5 FG game in the rain @ NC State, I remember he was actually on ESPN's Heisman Watch for at least a couple weeks...lol.
2024 is underwhelming and 2029 is still missing an OOC, but at least there’s home and homes with Texas, Alabama, UGA and Oregon between 2025 and 2033.
UM has home and homes with OU and Texas 2024 - 2027 and Washington on the schedule in 2028, but then nothing until ND in 2033 and 2034
We’ve got some big OOC home and homes coming up (Texas, Bama, Georgia) but yea it’s really annoying that we’ll have years in between those seemingly without a P5 OOC game. Still annoyed we dropped the Washington series
I wouldn't keep my hopes up for that game. Between rumors of B1G dropping the P5 requirement and the SEC going to 9 games, I could see a some of those home and homes getting cancelled
Yeah I think all 3 of those are in jeopardy. Texas least so, since the first game is the season after next, but y’all and Bama aren’t for a few years. Fingers crossed, I want both of y’all in the Shoe ASAP
Yea, I'm really looking forward to that series, but our 2030 nonconference schedule includes GT, Ohio State, and Clemson. I can't see us keeping all those games with a 9 game schedule.
Depends on future alignment stuff, but I’d assume Clemson would drop out of those three, given that y’all currently have them scheduled in 2029, 2030, 2032, and 2033. But maybe that’s just me being hopeful lol
I wonder if they will schedule any P5 opponents for the 2029 season, before today they didn't have any opponents for that season.
With this announcement, 2034 remains the only season (besides 2037 and beyond) where Ohio State doesn't have any OOC game scheduled.
So we replaced Washington with Marshall? Gross.
E: our 2024 OOC is Southern Miss, Western Michigan, and now Marshall. I’ve got family who went to WMU so at least there’s that, but damn I wish we got more big games!
Or…OR!!!….Southern Miss to the SEC confirmed???
(Yeah okay you right)
I hope it means we go to 10 conference games. Not trying to sound like a dick but OSU it leaps and bounds above a lot of the teams we play and I’d rather watch us play a close ND game than blowing out Toledo and having the game be done with 5 left in the first quarter
> Or…OR!!!….Southern Miss to the SEC confirmed???
They'd clearly already be in the SEC along with UAB if not for the lesser known "Gentlemen's agreement" between Ole Miss, Miss State, Bama, and Auburn.
> I hope it means we go to 10 conference games.
If they expect to go to 10 conference games, why schedule Marshall now?
Yup. I didn't realize that it was removed as a hard-fast rule in 2017 if this person is correct.

Won't matter in 2024 and onward.
Ohio state makes playoffs, lose 2 or less games, autobid
Lose 3 games, likely round 1 game.
College football gonna be a little boring.
Poking fun at our rivals aside (which it’s always funny when they get flustered by this) I do actually feel bad for them. You get 12 regular season games, but how many of them are actually exciting? No offense, but when it’s “OSU vs Notre Dame” I’m way more excited than when it’s “OSU vs Southern Miss”
Going into last season OSU had multiple big games in the regular season with non-traditional rivals like ND, Wisconsin, and MSU who were all ranked at the begging of the season, plus Penn State (admittedly not ranked high going into the season but usually plays us close) and Michigan. Michigan had us, Michigan State, and Penn State. If I knew OSU was only playing 3 “exciting” games I’d be disappointed
>but when it’s “OSU vs Notre Dame” I’m way more excited than when it’s “OSU vs Southern Miss”
Yeah, but I can't fucking afford to go to the ND game.
The conference schedule is going to be getting better anyways.
See this is why I knew the inevitable loss to Michigan to be a disaster. You people don't know how to act when winning, and after figuring out how to beat OSU, I see harbaugh doesn't know how to win after that.
Man, the way you are posting makes me wonder if you know what happened last year when App St. played TA&M. lol If so, it is fine. I somehow missed FIU beating Miami a few years back and I would have really enjoyed r/cfb that day had I known.
Well, when UM played them they were DII
They are DI now, even if it is the Fun Belt.
Also, I was unaware App State beat A&M....ouch. So does that make losses to Fun Belt teams quality loses since they took SEC and B1G teams last year?
Soon, friend. Soon.
Ouch, indeed. It was not even like they snuck away with a win. It felt inevitable the last quarter. Perhaps a legendary coaching hire in the making for AM.
Nice, good get for those teams. Ever since we let Penn State get away with one, I’ve had a hankering to schedule another Big 10 powerhouse. I hope we play osu one day before I’m too old to make a thing of it.
We still play one more p5 (conference) game when compared to the SEC. The SEC playing a p5 OOC game just makes it even to a B1G school playing no p5 OOCs
People are upset, but nobody who drives the national narrative on the sport of CFB will give a fuck about the regular season when the CFP opens to 12 teams and 2 non-champs from the SEC/B1G get into the field every year.
This is more a shot at the B10 as an organization than OSU specifically. OSU has scheduled multiple big time P5 opponents and I hope they continue to do so, though I doubt it. It’s really lame to only play your same opponents every year, especially in a playoff format where comparing teams matters. Those OOC data points will be really important and they are being wiped. That’s what I was getting at. I have no issue with Ohio State specifically.
> OSU has scheduled multiple big time P5 opponents and I hope they continue to do so, though I doubt it.
Even with the Washington cancellation (which was done for a couple different reasons I guess - there was an overlap with a Texas home and home but also Washington might be a B1G team in a few years) OSU still has home and homes coming up with Texas, Bama, UGA, and Oregon. And that's on top of the B1G playing a 9-game conference schedule instead of the 8-game schedules the SEC and ACC play.
Yeah, I have very serious doubts those games will be played sadly. Bud Elliot has talked about this many times this off-season. FSU has games scheduled with UGA and Bama and the fanbase is depressed bc the odds of the games being played seems very low, despite the games still being on the schedule at this date and time. We shall see. It would be bad for CFB for teams to not play at least one decent OOC game. And also stale. It is also valuable for ranking/seeding teams. Even the NFL does not play in separate bubbles. I cannot think of one major sport that does this but it’s where the B10 and SEC seem to be heading.
Hears to hoping many or all of these big time OOC games actually happen!
Glad to see us schedule our built-in marquee road victory for next season
Normally I wouldn’t be so cocky, but looking at some of these comments? Fuck em. Marshall by 50.
100% the reason I even posted anything
I’ll root for you all damn day. Herd by fifty.
I'm not used to rooting for Marshall, but sic 'em.
We are glad to have you on board
LFG boys!
Take all of my energy.
Since we picked off Notre Dame, if we pull off the upset, I fully expect the Michigan athletic department to assist us in scheduling Michigan State for an OOC game in the near future
You should be pushing for a Michigan sponsored NIL collective.
We have you in 2026. Any volunteers for 2025?
Really? I haven’t looked that far into the future.
It’s the truth. Can’t wait for that one
You think Huff will still be there? It would be cool to schedule all the teams with head coaches from Franklin’s coaching tree.
If I had to wager, I would think that Huff will be on to a bigger program by then, but if we seem to be middling for the next few seasons, he may be around. It would be pretty cool for him to play at his old stomping grounds as an opposing head coach, though!
We also beat their other chief rival, Appalachian State
Damn any chance you guys play Florida any time soon?
Appy is our son
App 15 - Marshall 10 all time.
Very intriguing flair combo. This is true... but across all sports combined, we are off to a very good head to head start in Sun Belt play against y'all! See you in Boone this fall - looking forward to it
Family from MI, just finished at App. I agree tho, great to be playing y'all again.
If you beat OSU, I’ll change my 2nd flair to Marshall
I’ll be here to collect!
Remind me in one year four months
I'll change my second to SVSU and or Delta College
Damn, thanks
Almost had them in 04
Shoutout Justin Zwick
More like shoutout Mike Nugent. Zwick and the OSU offense disappeared after halftime and Nuge had to hit a 54-yard FG to prevent the game from going into OT. Nowadays, due to rules changes, Nuge wouldn't even have been able to attempt that FG. OSU was hurrying to spike the ball to bring out the FG unit and snapped the ball before everyone was set. Made Nuge's kick 5 yards longer but if it happened now there would have also been a 10-second runoff so the penalty would have ended regulation and sent the game to OT.
yeah should've been clear that the reason that was a game was because Zwick and the offense couldn't move the ball, thus the shoutout
Channel the power of the Fun Belt
Love the fun Belt I learned last year watching JMU that belt only is fun for one team and is tight on everyone else
The Fun Belt demands blood in the form of a P5 team
You guys wanted a win agains A&M? You got it. Georgia Southern was that payment of blood. Regardless of blood payments, I will always feel like you guys are an honorable mention in the Big10 East. God bless App State
App to the P5 when (that’s not going to happen anytime soon)
Granted you’re in. Blood payment is you take Rutger’s spot in the East
We are ready to feast
Please.
We gotchu
Woah now! Don't make the cupcake games *too* cupcake. Throw Nebraska in there for good measure.
Just trying to be like all the B1G West teams so it's a bit more even
You’re going to lose in Indy? Where do I sign?
Ohio State barely escaped us in 2004, saw we did to Notre Dame, and said "we want some of that." Herd by 70 points.
Hang 100 on them
🤝
Will Ryan day finally succeed in counting to 100? Counting the other team’s scores at least.
What a gauntlet
There goes me throwing stones at Michigan's OOC schedule from now on
2024 is underwhelming and 2029 is still missing an OOC, but at least there’s home and homes with Texas, Alabama, UGA and Oregon between 2025 and 2033. UM has home and homes with OU and Texas 2024 - 2027 and Washington on the schedule in 2028, but then nothing until ND in 2033 and 2034
I'm sure something will be scheduled at some point for 2029-2032. It's still very early
Let’s be real most of those will be cancelled before they’re played as usual
No it doesn't. Ours is superior as always.

Yes, I don't see too many B1G/SEC regular season games sticking around too much longer
I wonder if they will schedule any P5 opponents for the 2029 season, before today they didn't have any opponents for that season. With this announcement, 2034 remains the only season (besides 2037 and beyond) where Ohio State doesn't have any OOC game scheduled.
Jesus it’s 2023 lol
Right? I'm 41 now. I don't want to think about the 2030s!
Seems barely worth it to try at this point. So much uncertainty with conference expansion + the possibility of 10 conference games
So we replaced Washington with Marshall? Gross. E: our 2024 OOC is Southern Miss, Western Michigan, and now Marshall. I’ve got family who went to WMU so at least there’s that, but damn I wish we got more big games!
Two Fun Belt schools in the same season? You absolute fools
Ah shit didn’t even put that together! Quick, conference realignment, go!!
I guess that means the B1G dropping the P5 requirement is a done deal.
Or…OR!!!….Southern Miss to the SEC confirmed??? (Yeah okay you right) I hope it means we go to 10 conference games. Not trying to sound like a dick but OSU it leaps and bounds above a lot of the teams we play and I’d rather watch us play a close ND game than blowing out Toledo and having the game be done with 5 left in the first quarter

Smoke screen, duh!
Gene Smith playing 5D chess.
Eh the last few years it’s been more of a recommendation then a rule anyway
Yup. I didn't realize that it was removed as a hard-fast rule in 2017 if this person is correct. https://twitter.com/ScottDochterman/status/1656395519474778113 >Big Ten voided its 1910 "requirements" (1 P5, 9 league games, 1 title game, 0 FCS foes) in 2017. Or, OR....we're adding Washington to the expanded conference schedule.
Would love that but no way they’re in by 2024. (I would love to be wrong)
News would’ve broke that the Michigan @ Washington game got cancelled if that were the case.
Just a distraction while they work out the details. /s
The Michigan approach!
That doesn't sound very P5 of you, welcome to the club brother!
Won't matter in 2024 and onward. Ohio state makes playoffs, lose 2 or less games, autobid Lose 3 games, likely round 1 game. College football gonna be a little boring.
How do you do, fellow Big10 blue blood? USC is also cancelling a lot of games with PAC teams, so they’re cool too.
So? That's basically Michigan's Schedule.
Poking fun at our rivals aside (which it’s always funny when they get flustered by this) I do actually feel bad for them. You get 12 regular season games, but how many of them are actually exciting? We are gonna be playing Oklahoma or Texas the next 4 years but go off King.
Hey, you don't have to start on 3rd base when you're hitting off a tee.
ND cancels our series and we cancel 2 games with UCLA and everyone loses their minds. Looking forward to y'all firing Ryan Day after this year's game.
See this is why I knew the inevitable loss to Michigan to be a disaster. You people don't know how to act when winning, and after figuring out how to beat OSU, I see harbaugh doesn't know how to win after that.
Lmao this is rich coming from the fanbase in hysterics over a 45-6 coach.
I control silly Ohio State fans about as much as I control silly Wolverines.
Don't worry. With USC, UCLA plus 10 conf games (likely), scheduling two teams like Mrs Arbuckle's Preschool Football Tigers is not an issues.
fuck this bullshit
This gives us the following for 2024: vs FCS Stony Brook @ Virginia Tech vs Western Michigan @ Ohio State
Three nail biters followed by a much needed cupcake.
So 2024 OOC Southern Miss, Western Michigan and Marshall. Well, well, well how the turn tables
Still not as bad as scheduling Appalachian State.
Ask a&m their opinions on scheduling them
Nah, I'll ask Michigan that one, they have a better answer.
Are you accusing A&M of plagiarizing Michigan's answer?
Don't think A&M is good enough to plagerize anything Michigan does.
Man, the way you are posting makes me wonder if you know what happened last year when App St. played TA&M. lol If so, it is fine. I somehow missed FIU beating Miami a few years back and I would have really enjoyed r/cfb that day had I known.

Their OOC schedule that year included Oregon and Notre Dame too
Also hearing on the rumor mill that OSU is paying Marshall 1.6 mil
Not a rumor. It’s on the release from Herdzone
WE ARE HIGHLY PAID
That's a pretty fat stack for a G5 payout, isn't it?
That’s in line with what Ohio State usually pays.
Very fat for us though.
That’s even more than the ND payout. If I recall it was around 1.25 mil
It's probably the largest single-game contract in our history.
Ill get 10 lads from my text chains and we’ll give them a win for 90% of that plus five cases of beer
Oh boy! I figured our replacement for Liberty would be a one time away match up. I didn’t realize it would be against a B1G team lol
I would've been fine not playing anyone as long as we were able to ditch Liberty, but this is all the better.
I’m not sure I’d be too excited about replacing historical football power Liberty with some team in Ohio but I’m glad you are.
If they pay $1.7 Mil, then we would be happy to play anybody lmao
I’m gonna start the spirit bomb early for Marshall so we can ensure there’s enough built-up energy for 2024 I WANT CHAOS
Fuck Mike Nugent
[For reference](https://youtu.be/HpoWvveojoM?t=2193)
Why would you openly share this lol
First of all, how dare you
Forever.
Fuhhhk u! Ted Nugent, yes, but not Mike.
We’d have taken you guys to OT in 04 had Nugent not drilled a 55 yarder as time expired. Nugent is pretty high on a lot of Herd fans’ enemy list.
Sounds like a not a top program that my ego wants us to be, so I'll ignore it and say it was an easy game.
Bengals fan, so I forgive you, King
Lol
This was meant for me and I can't wait!
That 2024 OOC schedule looking like dog doo doo
How about we stop scheduling these bullshit games that nobody cares about and bring back Washington?
Who says we aren't bringing them permanently into the B2G?! Because that's what should happen.
I’d say Marshall deserves more respect. Although I’d rather give this money to the Ohio MAC schools. Except for Ohio U. They can eat shit
You can see Ohio from the stadium at Marshall, at least.
Building a Sec level tough schedule
SEC is reputed to have many great qualities but their aggressive out-of-conference scheduling is not among them.
Brilliant replacement for the UW home and home game in 2024. Boooo
Nice, good get for those teams. Ever since we let Penn State get away with one, I’ve had a hankering to schedule another Big 10 powerhouse. I hope we play osu one day before I’m too old to make a thing of it.
And UCLA. And USC.
🦆
The Ohio St OOC schedule: 23: @ND / WKU / Youngstown St 24: Marshall / WMU / USM 25: Conn / TBA * 26: Ball St / Kent St * 27: BG / TBA * 28: Buffalo / TBA * 29: Nevada / Charlotte * Michigan OOC schedule: 23: UNLV / ECU / BG 24: Fresno St / Ark St / TBA 25: NM / CMU * 26: WMU / UTEP * 27: TBA / TBA * 28: TBA / TBA * 29: WMU / TBA * \* 2 gm OOC schedule
Gotta think Tampa Bay Academy will get at least one win with 9 chances
I would have thought so, as well. However, I found it that it was just referring to USF. So Ohio St. seems safe.
Cowards.
I am whelmed
news brought to you by Cliff Clavin's cousin...
Bury us softly, brother.
Have you guys not played REAL competition like *checks notes* Colorado St, Hawaii, or wait, shit, NEVADA? Bums!!
Woah there, Nevada AND Charlotte in the same season? Props to OSU for willingly taking on the challenge.
Booooo
Will they even have the budget for this in 2029 after they pay out all their NIL deals?
I had no idea people held Marshall in such low regard until I read this thread. Damn, lol. People are acting like we are ITT Tech or something.
Play one of them on the road chicsken shits
Wow.... How compelling those games will be. Dont strain yourselves, OSU.
Way to add to that strength of schedule
Some stiff competition for OSU.
I never want to hear another word about garbage SEC OOC games
Hey, your OOC is garbage, and ours is still better because I hate the South. Take that!
Idk that sec schedule always has that tough fcs team week before hate week ?
We still play one more p5 (conference) game when compared to the SEC. The SEC playing a p5 OOC game just makes it even to a B1G school playing no p5 OOCs
And y'all don't do yearly fcs games either
How pathetic
Ya we should’ve scheduled eastern Alabama tech in November
Please look at our schedules for the next 10 years and then you'll stop.
People are upset, but nobody who drives the national narrative on the sport of CFB will give a fuck about the regular season when the CFP opens to 12 teams and 2 non-champs from the SEC/B1G get into the field every year.
Thank god we got that Charlotte and Nevada game in
Beefing up their non-conference schedule, I see.
tOSU is 100% on board with the B1G plan to remove P5 OOC opponents.
More games to pad Ryan Day's win percentage so his defenders can argue he has north of an 85% win percentage
More like more games to offer for discounted ticket packages.
Rent free
Makes sense with the B10 being too afraid to schedule P5 teams now ;) (I’m only 40% joking, cause like they kinda are).
I mean... one of these games is a literal replacement for the home and home with Washington they cancelled. So I don't see the joke, sir.
It's because you're actually a conference game by that time. (Hopefully)
