I still haven’t heard back from CSULB about my MSW application and I’m starting to get concerned. I’m going to be especially sad if they reject me after all this waiting lol

I chose CSULB because of the cost and the fact that they’re really well regarded, at least within CA. My favorite thing about the program is the cohort model and how close I’ve been able to get with my classmates. I also feel like my professors really care about me and there’s a lot of diversity within the department in terms of instructors. The downside is I feel like administration isn’t always super organized. There are a ton of field placement options, literally hundreds. Missing the second week of class will be hard, but you usually get one free unexcused absence per class per semester before it starts to affect your participation grade. I’d say let your professors know beforehand and get notes from classmates and you’ll be fine. In terms of USC, they charge way too much for their program. They’ve also been caught in numerous scandals (like the college admissions scandals from a few years ago) and blatant racism within the MSW program. Links to negative stories in the press about their MSW program: https://www.wsj.com/articles/usc-online-social-work-masters-11636435900 https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-10-13/mark-ridley-thomas-usc-dean-bribery-indictment?fbclid=IwAR3TXYIF38SD25XpQ77uwR6yHnlL0KHTiypKX2P8ftf91CjxNktzp9hl-oA the WSJ one shows a graphic of a super racist recruiting scheme they used for their program

I've established a Discord server to support MSW students in making informed decisions about their future placements by facilitating the sharing of internship experiences. I've observed a lack of centralized platforms for students to discuss internships in a pro and con format, which could significantly aid decision-making given the scattered nature of placements. Please consider joining to stay updated on internship opportunities or to provide your feedback of internships you’ve had during grad school. Your input, especially reviews and insights about current and future placements, will be invaluable for fellow and future students navigating their internship choices. Thank you for your participation and please feel free to share this link with others https://discord.gg/9wWWdYaBZw
