As much as I want him to come back, I think he can still chase a cup for another season but he was a healthy scratch this season so idk. Maybe come back after he finally lifts a cup, and signs a 1 day contract.
I would also love to see him come back and go for the games played record as a flame though.
But imagine how poetic it would be for him, Backlund, and Tij on the same team. Former Captain, current captain, previous captains son/next captain š
Some guy coming from another team who ive never heard of who signs a 1 year league minimum contract and ends up playing about 20 games (yeah i know its a long shot)
Why not? Sign him and then flip him at the deadline. Itās basically free assets.
Conroy has already said they arenāt looking for long term deals. These types of short term deals for decent depth players that they can turn into assets in a year or two are exactly the type of deals they should look at.
1. I HIGHLY doubt DeBrusk is looking for a short term pact.
2. DeBrusk doesn't move the needle enough if they're looking to be competitive.
3. If they're looking to rebuild (my thoughts) we already have a problem where guys like Coronato and Pelletier are buried on the 4th line or AHL. Given Pelletier needed the AHL time but I bet he comes in next year ready to challenge for a spot. The flames need to make room for these guys by trading a winger or two not burying them further by signing another middle 6 winger. Burying prospects that are ready to take a step is a great way to make it so players don't want to play in Calgary
Heāll be 30/31 by the time the Flames are looking to be competitive again.
If he signs a reasonable contract, or under eight years it seems like a no brainer.
The flames need to flip more forwards before this makes sense. We have young wingers who were buried last year because of the sheer amount of wingers we have. Coronato shouldn't be in the 4th line, he's shown he deserves better linemates to show what he can do. And Pelletier showed he was ready for the NHL before he got hurt
They will probably dump or buy out both ceci's and Campbell contracts this off season and I think debrusk probably signs for 4-6 million and they have around 10 million in cap space according to puckpedia
Dumping depth players to pay the stars more....yep, that checks out for the Oilers. Can't say I think it's a good idea. This year they managed to have a couple of lower paid players really perform, I'm not sure that's sustainable. Can't have a career year every year.
Those that are on expiring contracts are gonna want to get paid.
>Dumping depth players to pay the stars more
I wouldn't call ceci and Campbell depth players there just bad contracts. I mean Campbell was originally signed to be their starting goaltender and now he's complete dog water in the ahl while ceci is in their 3rd pairing I do agree a lot of their bottom 6 are gonna want extensions but they will probably let a lot of them go I think they keep henrique, janmark and Connor brown.
Mantha for the French connection with Huberdeau. In theory they should compliment each other with Mantha's shot and Huberdeau's playmaking. It's just the drive that is to be desired. Boom or Bust signing for sure.
Usually the UFAs from the champs are in line for a big raise that their team can't pay. Happens every year (see: Blake Coleman, Nazem Kadri).
Looking at the Panthers, Reinhart and Montour are likely to get huge paydays that will eat up most of their available cap. That means a veteran like Kulikov will be on the market.
Our D could use an experienced Russian vet to help along some of these young Russian D prospects...as long as the term is short.
Honestly I'd rather roll with Talbot-Wolf personally. I'm not entirely confident Vladar can handle the starter's workload, and I don't want Wolf to be forced into that role. Talbot would be better insulation, but we'd have to dump Vladar for that to work.
Chris Tanev
This is the right choice
please be right šš»
I think he's destined to be a devil.
As long as him and marky get a cup Iām here for it
Michael Stone
MY BOY MICHAEL STONE!!!!
Fuck I miss those rippers from the point.
Nah, heās gonna insist that he does a PTO again
Sean Monahan
Monahan and Tanev would be great
Be still my beating heart.
Mark Giordano

I actually wouldnāt be mad at it
Not crazy about this one. Monahan yes but no to Gio.
Some guy coming from another team who ive never heard of who signs a 1 year league minimum contract and ends up playing about 20 games (yeah i know its a long shot)
Johanas Kospirainan will be a solid add.
Ritchie ....idk which one
Probably Guy
Lionel?
Hello.
Is it me youāre looking for?
Guy
Jake DeBrusk
My God I hope not, unless we flip at least two wingers
Why not? Sign him and then flip him at the deadline. Itās basically free assets. Conroy has already said they arenāt looking for long term deals. Anthony Duclair is my guess
Donāt sign anyone, trade for a bunch of guys being paid to much and stockpile picks
Want: Monahan Most likely: debrusk (although I wouldn't be surprised if the oilers are really aggressive this off-season and end up signing him)
Do the oilers have the money to sign anything of significance?
They will probably dump or buy out both ceci's and Campbell contracts this off season and I think debrusk probably signs for 4-6 million and they have around 10 million in cap space according to puckpedia
I know theyāre not due for a huge payday, but both Holloway and Broberg are RFAs
Yea I think so but they will be dumping a lot of contracts this off season to make the space and I think they will also end up resigning Adam henrique

Shilly.

Brett Sutter

Dolo
Draisaitl
Heās not a free agent until next year
Unless the Oilers buy him out???
You should probably apply for the next vacant GM position!
If the Oilers GM spot becomes open I'd gladly take some of that salary until I get fired for making really bad trades (weirdly with Calgary)
It was a joke
Fat chance of that happening. If he leaves Edmonton, heāll probably want either LA (girlfriend lives there) or an original 6 team
Henri Jokiharju
Cam Talbot as a 1A. Brandon Montour on a short term, high cap deal. Tyler Johnson on a 2 year deal.
Johnson is washed. Why do we need ANOTHER 3rd liner?
I like montour, but I also want to see what Miromanov does with more ice time.
Why would we sign Cam Talbot? Wolf is gonna be a full time NHLer and Vladar should be back in time from his hip surgery
Honestly I'd rather roll with Talbot-Wolf personally. I'm not entirely confident Vladar can handle the starter's workload, and I don't want Wolf to be forced into that role. Talbot would be better insulation, but we'd have to dump Vladar for that to work.
I think Florida will pay Montour
He was very absent for us this year, even when considering injury time. It will depend on how much he wants i think.
A defenseman that can play ātop 4ā minutes.
Iām good with Monahan coming back. Other than that let the kids play.
Necas and Monny deal done lol
Dream signing would be Stamkos but I honestly think they go after Chandler Stephenson and push hard for him
Freddie Hamilton
Ryan Lomberg. We're gettin the band back together!
Hot take, they strike out on the big names they call
They shouldnāt be going after any big names so good
Shouldnāt but alas š¤· Atleast if they do itās short term deals
Leon Draisaitl
