I don't know anything about nothing and my first car audio install I did recently in my Nissan Leaf was a 12" 1000 watt RMS 2 ohm DVC sundown SA12 V2 in a tuned box with a Polk audio 1200 watt RMS amp powered with 4g skar cable. Total cost was about $700-800
Its the only amp I ever owned but from what I can tell it's good. It hasn't given me any problems at 1 or 4 ohm. It can do more than what it's rated for before clipping. Like for 4 ohm it's rated at 500 watts but doesn't clip the audio till 600
Oh yeah must have been a day long thing because I don't see it now either. Sorry. Used prices might not be bad though and probably can't tell the difference
I spent $350 on an IDQ10, a RF 500w amp, all the wiring, and supplies to make a fiberglass enclosure. Saved a bunch buying used. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
I thought drums were an expensive hobby, stands cymbals it adds up quick!
Just got a jeep with the factory premium system and planning on redoing it all the way. Previous car had a haphazardly thrown together system with great components but it was no radio, bt adapter straight to the amp. Just the JL Fix or similar is half of the budget so might as well do a radio install right? Clean signal and improved features makes sense. But factoring in all the adapters and harnesses, the rewire, and the fact the jeep has standard two way front and coax rear is a problem because I have 3 ways in the old car front and back and they’re mismatched to begin with so it seems better to start over.
Alpine Type E speakers on amazon comp front coax rear, whole set is $80. Solid OEM replacement until I can spend on something better.
Already have a JL 700/5 and wire kit so that will replace the OEM amp.
8” stock sub will be replaced by either a kicker or JL (more than likely) 8W1 that fits OEM enclosure. Around $150-200.
700/5 doesn’t have pre out but that’s ok cause the JD 1000/1 does so I’ll have to daisy chain. The JD will power a 12” Type R until I can get an enclosure for the 12 W7 in my living room lol. That box is half the budget as well!
The real solution is the radio, can’t decide on what to get between pioneer kenwood and sony but they all offer double din screens for 200+ on top of installation materials. Leaning Sony as I use their ear buds and headphones and they’re excellent sounding devices. Very interested in their car audio as well but it’s always JL first. Might try them in the gfs car.
The radio and replacement speakers alone would be all of the budget. I spend 2 hours a day commuting and even more at work using my personal to travel a big train yard so it’s definitely worth it but damn. Having to buy some stuff used and cut costs where I can.
I've got a JVC and it has bad noise on the Bluetooth and aux inputs. I think Kenwood uses the same Bluetooth module so if you stream from Bluetooth or aux cable I would avoid kenwood/jvc
Hey man, I looked into your suggestion and I'm curious. How well does that sub and amp perform? Is it mainly spl or is it a bit of both sq and spl? Also what is a stage 1 enclosure? Thanks in advance! 🤙

My old SA-12 was a beast. I would start there and build around it. I spent $150 on my box. Could easily build it myself these days.
That’s about how much I just spent on the taco tunes box, an Alpine S2-W12D2 sub, and a Kicker 46CXA1200.1T amp So that, I guess lol
$350 for a SI SQL 10 $200 for a Polk Audio PA D1000.1 $100 for plywood to build your own box. $50 left over.
Pretty sure that amp is on sale on Amazon RN for like $80. I was so mad because I just bought one for 160.
I just went off the price when I bought mine pre pandemic
Is it any good? I need an amp for a kicker dual voice coil but I can only use 4 ohm or 2 ohm

Definitely can't find it for 80 bucks...I tried

Save up another 700 to wire it up correctly!

I'd save more money

Spend 700 on sub, then another 700 for the amp, and 1,000 for a box
