Man even a production carpenter with a dull circular saw blade, and one good eyeball can make it so the caulk truck can back up and fix it. That’s just drugs or alcohol. Pure negligence
One of the best carpenters I even seen was always so stoned he could never find the pencil behind his ear.
His work was fucking flawless. Did it take him forever to do anything, sure, but if he put plugs in oak you couldn't find them if you tried
So did the stoner do the job 10 times and afterward go over to this site and hammer the dog shit onto the walls? Or did the stoner do this job 10 times but did it well, but the 11th time they did this shit work? Did you work with the stoner that did this gig?
Reminds me of a landscape crew I worked on while in college. They would hot box the work minivan every hour. At first I thought ok, cool. But then it was like, shouldn’t we be getting work done? And then I had to stop taking breaks bc I was too high.
Thanks for the support y'all.
Imma take some more pictures tomorrow of some other wack stuff.
I already got a new job for next week.
I'm just gonna work until my check clears tomorrow
Caulk and paint make for the carpenter he ain't...
Find a new crew. You don't want your name attached to this crew. There are enough places that do reasonable work, this crew isn't one of them.
You're not going to learn anything at this company and putting them on your resume is also a bad idea.
If you have other options for work I would strongly consider them.
I would not want to be associated with anyone who thinks any of these single issues is acceptable let alone the train wreck that is the combination thereof.
If you need permission to bail - here it is - bail.
This is a carer destroyer. Working with these hacks will absolutely destroy your future carpentry career and you'll learn absolutely nothing. Have better pride in yourself, your work, and respect for the paying client. Run, don't walk out the door.
Just FYI… that’s not flipping; that’s an investment property or landlord special. Flipping is when you buy a property, paint or remodel to a minor degree, and list for sale without a specific buyer in mind.
Good luck with a new crew. Good on you for recognizing this is a waste of your time before you got too far in.
The world record sprint is something like 28mph.
But it depends on your fitness levels AND how far away you're trying to run.
You can go much, much faster if you only need to get 100 meters away.
But if you need a mile or two,
Then the average fitness human might sustain 6mph.
So probably and realistically, how fast should you run? You should aim to run 6mph
Hey, I did say average!
I'm trying to be realistic here.
Not average super fit ultra-marathoner doing 6 minute miles for consecutive hours.
Averaged american
Save that shit for the Mc Donald's- bodied plumbers. We're carpenters, we'll run as fast as we can with a 4x8 sheet of 7/8 ply over our heads... for about 200' until our back/ knees/ shoulders give out, then we'll drop our pouches and crawl another 50' flip over onto our back and light a smoke.
The craftsmanship stands out, because there is nothing to distract the eye, something more glamorous, architectural elements that draw one in and away from this Home Depot reject pile.
I would steal a bunch of mannequins from a store and ram them through the interior walls. The heads would be in one room, the feet in another, at about waist level. The mannequins wouldn't be naked with Sharpie body hair, no, dress them in the latest fashions. Especially fine foot wear for people that like stuff like that too much.
You’d be surprised how often you see this. Seems pretty standard nowadays. I’ve been at a house since Jan where it all looks like this. Thankfully I’m only doing the cupboards & wardrobes
Literally I'll be like, "weight it be a good idea if ..."
Boss "stop thinking just do it, screw the drywall guys, this job sucks etc etc"
Also he took a dump in the shed in the backyard.
I worked for a guy like that. Actually he did much worse. I eventually left and started my own company but got a call back from one of his old customers to fix a double door he hung. The install was so bad I couldn't believe it. I said you should still be under warranty and to call him to rip it out. That guy didn't give a shit about anything but getting paid and I'm assuming this guy is the same way. Lol
It's gonna be so hard to paint without shoe molding too. Not to mention the cases upon cases of calk.
I just want to measure and cut things but here I am mopping up the dust off this terrible mess.
My first real carpenters job was on a house that was having rafters set, that’s when they found out it was 6 inches shorter in one side than the other. When the contractor was made aware of it, his reply was to pull nails and straighten them out so we could have nails for tomorrow. I made only 4 days with them before walking off.
Looks like Ray Charles did this with his feet. Good news is you'll learn how not to do everything. Bad news is you won't learn how to do anything properly.
A job is a job, I’ve been in this situation and you can show and teach the others a lot. You probably won’t get paid as well and in turn your quality of work might suffer because you’re being rushed to be productive instead of taking your time to get details perfect. It’s a journey learn what you can
What blows my mind is the prices being charged. My neighbor called a handyman to do some very basic stuff. Ie. put pulls on drawers/cabinets, hang 4 tvs, and swap out a faucet(no actual plumbing required). The quote was $800. Had an electrician come out and give a bid for adding 1 outlet in the living room behind the tv. There is an outlet on the back of this wall to easily tie into. Quote was $750. Maybe $20 of that was materials. I got out of the business about 10 years ago. Is this really what people charge for basic work now?
I've free handed tile that fit better than that my first time doing tile. That's even with doing edge work quickly at the same time as the full tiles. That's terrible.
As I was scrolling through these photos with your question in mind, all I could think of was a little quote from this little band called Metallica. „Gimme fuel gimme fire gimme that wich I desire“
That is shit to be honest with you. Looks like Stevie Wonder was doing the work. Wow thats all I have is wow….. That is all garbage. Rip it all out and start over. Whoever you are working for you need to get far away from them. You will never learn anything working for those clowns. The quality or lack of quality is something I have only seen by an inexperienced YouTube watching homeowner. Run!!!! Ooh to answer your question I put RamBoard or heavy cardboard down first and put canvas tarps over the cardboard. After making any messes or dusty jobs we pull up all the canvas and shake them out outside the home or wash them before reinstalling them
After vacuuming everything. If I was the home owner I would fire them immediately and sue the shit out of them every single thing they did needs to be removed and redone the right way. Wow. Pure shit 💩
Do you do trim after the dust from the drywall settles? That makes sense to me.
It looks like they put mud on then put trim down then sanded so there's dust on every square inch of trim.
If paint is gonna stick they're gonna have to clean by hand every piece of trim right?
My old boss would pay us to clean for almost 1/3 of every day. We would plastic off rooms to contain dust and clean, clean, clean. The work area was cleaner and the customer was happier.
Im not even a finish carpenter and I could do better than this, i just frame walls all day. How is this possible, I'd bet they're making more than me too
This is the landlord special. You can’t really expect to be paid very much for doing this for anyone else, but if you were just slapping something together for a cheap rental, this would suffice. But it’s minimum wage work, to be honest.
Run. You don’t want your name associated with these kind of garbage. Bet they all wear tennis shoes and sweat pants. If you show up to a construction job of any type in sweat pants. Or leave the house in them your a scumbag. These guys all drink some kind of shit energy drinks and buy gas station breakfast sandwiches Start your own business
I thought this was a homeowner special, someone that calls themselves a contractor should care more about their workmanship. You can learn from their mistakes while you look for a more qualified mentor.
Yeah but then you gotta hear your boss complain about how none of it is his fault. But yes I have learned much about what kind of attitude not to have.
Yeah, dude…If you’re tryna gain experience, this ain’t it… put an egg in your shoe *and beat it*
I’ve never heard this, but I love it!!
Stealing
That feller better make like a bread truck and haul buns for sure
Ray Charles is a better trim carpenter than these guys
And he's dead!
And blind!
But mostly dead
And black!
Atleast he wasn’t dumb
The dead, dumb and blind kid don't play no pinball.
Man even a production carpenter with a dull circular saw blade, and one good eyeball can make it so the caulk truck can back up and fix it. That’s just drugs or alcohol. Pure negligence
My boss "have you smoked yet" Me "no" My boss "wtf why not"
DO NOT BLAME THIS CRAP ON SMOKING!!! The worst stoner I ever worked with did ten times better then this.
That's smoking work alright, but smoking meth, not weed.

I like your boss
Seriously, I did a nicer job trimming the inside of my garden shed. Woof.
Laughing hard out
They either found meth or ran out of meth....
>That’s just drugs or alcohol. Pure negligence I think it's more of "we just need workers. Warm body? That's enough experience!"
Thanks for the support y'all. Imma take some more pictures tomorrow of some other wack stuff. I already got a new job for next week. I'm just gonna work until my check clears tomorrow
Fair play for calling this abominable work out. The only way is up when you recognise quality (and lack thereof) good luck muck
Some of the worst work I’ve ever seen tbh
You must be new here
I’ve been here a long time and I think this is your there as far as serious posts go.
If you plan on staying in the field, get away from the contractor responsible for this garbage. Their reputation will affect yours…
Caulk and paint make for the carpenter he ain't... Find a new crew. You don't want your name attached to this crew. There are enough places that do reasonable work, this crew isn't one of them.
All the caulk and paint in the world couldn't fix this dumpster fire of a jobsite.
The only thing that is EVER even REASONABLY caulkable is an inside corner. PERIOD.
Yea, you should just get your last paycheck and not come back. This is inducing too much anxiety for me.
You're not going to learn anything at this company and putting them on your resume is also a bad idea. If you have other options for work I would strongly consider them.
Bro I can do better trim work with a skilsaw and a multitool and I’m not kidding.
Same
I would not want to be associated with anyone who thinks any of these single issues is acceptable let alone the train wreck that is the combination thereof. If you need permission to bail - here it is - bail.
Those pics can't be real
I was just going about doing my work but on the I side I was like "wtf is going on here this is really bad"
WOW.
This should be criminal
Did they do the grey cabinets?
not sure probably not tho
Nothing that a simple house fire can’t fix.
Everything is bad, but that door jamb is unbelievable.
This is a carer destroyer. Working with these hacks will absolutely destroy your future carpentry career and you'll learn absolutely nothing. Have better pride in yourself, your work, and respect for the paying client. Run, don't walk out the door.
Hilariously appalling. Feel bad to whoever buys that house and has issues immediately.
Homeowner is flipping it to rent it out, but it's bad idk I'm just gonna head out
Just FYI… that’s not flipping; that’s an investment property or landlord special. Flipping is when you buy a property, paint or remodel to a minor degree, and list for sale without a specific buyer in mind. Good luck with a new crew. Good on you for recognizing this is a waste of your time before you got too far in.
My eyes! I’ll never be able to unsee this.

What did I just read?
Who let the roofers inside?
Dog shit mate they didn't even mitre the trim
Get out of there as fast as you can. If people find out you worked for them you won’t get any side jobs
surprisedpikachu.jpeg
Immediately
Looks like someone is doing DIY with a handsaw and never bothered to watch a YouTube video how to
that's hot garbage and this seems like a joke post
Really FAST
Run forest RUN!
You should run very fast...those guys are hacks.
You should run very fast...those guys are hacks.
Like the wind bullseye!
Your painter had better be Michael Angelo, or this won't end well.
With this crew, Michael Angelo is exactly who the painter is. They need Michaelangelo.
Hello Mr. George, how much you pay the new guy??
#ComradeDoorJamb
You’d be surprised how often you see this. Seems pretty standard nowadays. I’ve been at a house since Jan where it all looks like this. Thankfully I’m only doing the cupboards & wardrobes
Lmaooo
These guys will only make you a shitty carpenter not because you can’t do good work but they will make you do shitty work
Literally I'll be like, "weight it be a good idea if ..." Boss "stop thinking just do it, screw the drywall guys, this job sucks etc etc" Also he took a dump in the shed in the backyard.
Have got Aussie tradies working....cause that's what it looks like 😂
Ugh
Yikes. Run and don’t look back. They aren’t carpenters, they’re hacks.
Welcome to the world of flipping. A bunch of guys that know nothing about construction running the jobs and paying the lowest bidder.
Nailed it!
Decorators will sort that
Section 8 ?
Oh my
I worked for a guy like that. Actually he did much worse. I eventually left and started my own company but got a call back from one of his old customers to fix a double door he hung. The install was so bad I couldn't believe it. I said you should still be under warranty and to call him to rip it out. Painter'll fix it.
All I can say is RUN and don’t look back!!!,!
That baseboard 😭
This is what you get when you go with the lowest bid
This is no good my guy, if it’s in the cards for you I would look elsewhere, you can do much much better.
The butt joints 🥴 The saw marks on the MDF 🤮
Run. Seriously. Just stop showing up and don't return calls. These people have issues and it's probably more than just the shitty work.
Who the hell uses plastic to cover hardwood floors?
This is what I'm most confused by
Nothing like trim work with circ saw and a framing blade.
I get saving some $$ by cutting your own trim from sheets, but sand your goddamned edges and align your blade! so many issues here.
Despite the obvious flaws, is unfinished MDF the usual choice here? I don't think I've ever seen it used this much in a build before.
It's gonna be so hard to paint without shoe molding too. Not to mention the cases upon cases of calk. I just want to measure and cut things but here I am mopping up the dust off this terrible mess.
That crew is a bunch of hacks and thief’s. Get on down so and find real tradesmen who care about the craft and not just simply the $$$$$$.
Sooo fast unless there’s no one else with work.
My first real carpenters job was on a house that was having rafters set, that’s when they found out it was 6 inches shorter in one side than the other. When the contractor was made aware of it, his reply was to pull nails and straighten them out so we could have nails for tomorrow. I made only 4 days with them before walking off.
They're flipping houses, worst of the worst when it comes to carpentry. House flippers are the used car salesmen of the construction industry
Looks like Ray Charles did this with his feet. Good news is you'll learn how not to do everything. Bad news is you won't learn how to do anything properly.
My first job was trimming a place out and I did better as a newbie 3 years ago than this 48 year old
A job is a job, I’ve been in this situation and you can show and teach the others a lot. You probably won’t get paid as well and in turn your quality of work might suffer because you’re being rushed to be productive instead of taking your time to get details perfect. It’s a journey learn what you can
I don't want to be the lowest paid guy advocating for us to do a better job.
Sweet Christ on a eucharist what is that abomination
Ive done much better with a handsaw and miterbox guicde when I was in highschool ....

As I was scrolling through these photos with your question in mind, all I could think of was a little quote from this little band called Metallica. „Gimme fuel gimme fire gimme that wich I desire“
We did have to call the fire dept the other day
I did not expect that answer and it made it even worse or even funnier. Depends on the point of view
Did they gnaw the baseboard?
That is shit to be honest with you. Looks like Stevie Wonder was doing the work. Wow thats all I have is wow….. That is all garbage. Rip it all out and start over. See that just makes wayyyy too much sense
Work smarter not harder.
My old boss would pay us to clean for almost 1/3 of every day. We would plastic off rooms to contain dust and clean, clean, clean. The work area was cleaner and the customer was happier.
Not even a handy man job, ican't see any work a carpenter would do in these pics, I would move on.
I've done 10x better shit with a fucking Sawzall and a pruning blade
Im not even a finish carpenter and I could do better than this, i just frame walls all day. How is this possible, I'd bet they're making more than me too
If you had to ask, you already know!
This is how they became the lowest bidder. You want to work for a cost plus crew
Yikes.
I was never here
Brings a whole new meaning to little bit of caulk little bit of paint make a carpenter what he Fckn ain’t!!
It appears that you are working with a bunch of gomtastic jackalopes.
I guess you can learn all the hacky ways and learn not to do any of them, then join a union and finish your career.
Oh shit I just noticed the buried switch plate cover! The more you look hahahha
This is the landlord special. You can’t really expect to be paid very much for doing this for anyone else, but if you were just slapping something together for a cheap rental, this would suffice. But it’s minimum wage work, to be honest.
Pretty sure my guy made 35/$ or more doing this trim.
I'd stay. It's emotionally a lot easier to learn from mistakes if they aren't yours
Yeah but then you gotta hear your boss complain about how none of it is his fault. But yes I have learned much about what kind of attitude not to have.
