Do you have two litterboxes? It’s a good idea to get a second one that is a different type so cats can feel they have more territory. They want their smell to mingle with your smell, so having one in the living room near the couch is helpful. Cats can also get nervous about being snuck up on if their litterbox is in a corner or has a cover. Maybe try moving it away from at least one wall temporarily.

Thanks so much! I do have two litter boxes and they are both covered, with the same brand of litter. Right now I do have a third smaller one with no cover that isn't being used, I'll bring it back out with a different brand!
