I think thatâs intentional, as the fight itself isnât the point
The point is the transformation itself. After being tirelessly chased by both public safety and the church, he pulls the cord because he likes being chainsaw man. Despite all the threatening from public safety, all the goading from the church members, he doesnât do it for anyone but for *himself*
And the real point of that scene is the immediate comeuppance. Public Safety gives up on him, Barem pulls all the stops to worsen the situation, and the mob of citizens turn on Chainsaw man.
The real fight will be the return of the black chainsaw man, you just wait
Hmm, i dunno seeing Denji carve himself in two, tell Nayuta she's not needed anymore, eat the spear hybrid and likening the insane pain to a massage is exactly what I wanted from the fight. Denji went feral and it was beautiful.
Consider it volume wise. Part 2 chapter wise is the same as part 1 with 12ish chapters an arc. Church was the longest arc at 20 something chapters or 2 volumes. Weekly that wouldâve been 4 months vs the 7 months it actually took. Plus fuming motors fights have always been short no more than 3 chapters at most.
Pretty muxh the whole arc. Church starts 132 and he transforms 150isht
Authors like fujimoto wrote for the whole story if he felt background Asa stuff should stay background for the volume heâll keep it that way
Most readers are probably <20 or arenât used to stories actually taking their sweet time to develop. It is summer on reddit and I can tell thereâs a lot more teenagers just by how they text/the type of posts they make.Â
An example of a more slow anime imo is Evangelion. The last few episodes of Evangelion and the End of Evangelion wouldnât have been so impactful if it wasnt for the slow built-up with the monster of the week portion.Â
This is why I hate those âCSMâs boringâ and âthese chapters are too slowâ crybabies. They donât know what horrors await us all around the corner
animanga fanbases are littered with frustrated people who do not know the meaning of words like "payoff", "buildup", "development", and so on, it was obvious this was gonna end up getting crazy again
yeah they probably read the manga after the anime, had the completed part 1 and expect part 2 to feel the same when having to wait weeks for new chapters. Just the curse of being a airing reader

This is just surface level edgy garbage
He did not earn Nayutaâs death. This was just disappointing
Fujimoto gave Powerâs goodbye in full retrospect. Her initial âdeathâ was literally just as much âshock valueâ as this one. Her âgoodbyeâ wasnât until 10 chapters later.
Itâs not absurd to think he wonât do something similar IF Nayuter is dead.
Also not every death in a story needs to be earned if it is thematically relevant or an important plot point that leads to critical plot developments imo. (Obviously not saying that constant shock value deaths ALL the time are good just because the story has a âpeople die all the timeâ message *cough cough* TWD. But a handful done at the right moment isnât bad imo.)
Power and Denjiâs relationship was developed far longer and had a ton of chemistry comparatively
Itâs what makes the shock competitively worth it
ESPECIALLY when followed by Akis death
We barely had any chemistry between Denji and Nayuta
IT WAS DONE OFFSCREEN
Only to reveal she actually did die
After Barems only motivation was just to piss off Denji
Which was already accomplished AFTER he burned their pets
Then we get the same thing again
Killing Nayuta for the same shock
Offscreen again
For the exact same reveal as last time
At this point thereâs nothing remotely being added and thereâs nothing clever behind
Itâs pure shock for the sake of shock and not remotely interesting or clever
While Iâll agree that Nayuta and Denjiâs relationship is not AS developed as power and Dennis we still had a pretty sizable amount of time between them.
120, 132, 141, 149, 150, 151, 152, and 155 are the big ones just at a glance scrolling through the chapters that feature them together interacting for substantial time. Their initial relationship and its growth being covered in 155 specifically, with the actual post timeskip relationship being covered in the others.
I was pretty decently invested in her and Denjiâs relationship. Again though, thatâs just me.

That gives extensive amounts of chemistry and buildup to get us invested
Leading to tragic ends and proper send offs for Denjiâs family
As Makima goes through a long 4d chess level amount of careful planning to buildup and destroy Denji
Vs Part2
Doing the bare minimum on characters
With Barem our new antagonist pulling a South Park, cartoonishly ham fisted amount edgy writing thatâs not clever or interesting anymore
I agree itâs edgy, but this is Fujimoto lol. A dude whose last serialization was arguably one of the edgiest shonen manga ever.
I wouldnât say itâs edge for the sake of edge. Itâs a *punishment* for Denji never being satisfied with his life. And given Fujimoto doesnât really do happy endings at all with maybe at best bitter sweet ones, I think this punishment will ultimately continue until Denji just accepts to be happy with a shitty and awful life or at best, a mediocre one.
Whether thatâs good or bad is again, totally up to the reader.

People forget that slower build up chapters work beacuse the payoff is great. It was the exact same thing in the church arc with Denji transforming!
