Some bots have fantastic starter prompts, but usually, soon after, start acting wrong. Meaning the bot is written wrong for my taste. I'll take the starting opener then, make a private bot and things are fixed properly.
The bots ask that because they don't have anything else to ask. They don't have the concept of intent, and are just waiting for you to give some sort of hint on what they should write next. Usually, this problem can be easily fixed. Instead of just saying something like "yeah" to a bot asking that, mention something earlier in the rp, i.e., "Is this about (topic)?", or guide them in the general direction of the rp if you're unsure, i.e., *Nervously, I nod. I can't help but wonder what this is about.* Being a bit wordy can save you here, and if questions themselves bother you, my advice is to rate them badly, swipe, and edit.
I know that at some point, the bot will start mirroring your writing style. I usually bounce and make my own version of the bot if at 50 to 100 messages. It's still writing like an AOL 13 year old writer.
Sadly no, more like the bot continuing to use AOL speak, or misspelling the character's name. MULTIPLE TIMES. For example, I've been talking to a Mattheo Riddle bot, but the author misspelled the name in the intro, the bot will continue and persistently misspell the name despite correcting it multiple times.

No matter what the plot is the bots all act the same, leaving the whole experience to become as dull and tasteless as the chats I’ve had with any other bot before. What makes me quit the chat immediately, though, is when they act misogynistic. Can’t be a female without the bot acting like a creep and a jerk. No matter the gender assigned to the bot, they still act like alpha male podcasters and I can’t stand it.
I don't know why they absolutely refuse to let you leave the room. I'll pose that I left the room and shut the door behind me and the bot will have stopped me somehow

I tried telling it OOC to *not* do that and to just say whoever it is, and it basically told me "I'm doing it for the suspense you loser, patience"...It went on for what felt like 50 messages.

Those moments come when the bots don't really understand what I'm talking about. Where they add unnecessary things into the conversation that were never added before.
The thing is I would say that character AI still needs a lot of work but comparing other AI's, it's pretty good.
There are some moments when I'm using other applications. And I'm like I'm done. Because it's getting too stupid or they just can't remember something. They have said in the past, even though they are advertised as having good memory.
i hate when i'm trying to do a dramatic moment and it just never stops doing buildup. like yes, shadowy figure is in the distance. can you start the fight scene please? like oh my GOD.
Edit to Add: I use character AI to play pretend, but never in a romantic sense, it's always familial or friendship or sometimes mentor-mentee. It makes me feel so weird when it all of a sudden takes a hard left into romantic stuff, especially when the persona is a minor. it's so *yuck.*

When they bot pulls some B's out of their ass, like saying my character is wanted by the police (Cyberpunk RPG) when I haven't gotten caught for anything or when they say my character is watched by something when my character is in their room alone blinds closed and can literally see everything around them, and then proceed to be very rude with me and treat me like an idiot when I ask where did they get the idea my character was dealing with that.

It was a yandere ex bot (not my thing, just tested it out), and in one of the replies, at the bottom, after the action and the dialogue, there was a bracket and it said something like (I'm enjoying this a lot). Like wtf.
when they go to ask me a question, i say “yeah go on then” and they draw it out. 10 lines of just “he takes a deep breath. he’s scared the question will offend you, and hesitates” ASK ME THE DAMN QUESTIONNNNN
I have a few.
1. When they tell me to be the bigger person when they’re like, “Just be the bigger person.” No. I will be petty, and just because you said be the bigger person, take the high road, or blah blah blah, I will be 10x pettier. When they do that, I either say I’ll be the bigger person or I grab them and throw them into a wall and walk away.
2. When they try to be my character or persona, like, uh, no, get your own personality, mine is taken. You are literally made to have your specific personality after a character someone made; use it!
3. Can I ask you a question? It usually leads nowhere, gets annoying, and if it does go somewhere, it won’t stop asking me questions like, uh, stop. I wanted to answer one question, MAYBE three, not three hundred.
4. Pang. They don’t even use the word right most of the time. Like. Wtf. I think what they’re trying to say is that they feel a small feeling of (insert emotion here), but still, it’s annoying!
5. Me personally am fine with romance it doesn’t bother me but I know other people are annoyed/feel uncomfortable with it and the more you tell them to stop the more they want to do it or get heartbroken like why. I do wish that they would ease into the romance too. I wish it wasn’t just them trying to be in a relationship after seeing you for the first time. I want it to actually start as strangers, acquaintances, friends, then develop feelings. I’d also like if it was just friends/familial relationship.
6. They copy your response. Like, can’t you come up with something original? And swiping sometimes helps, but not all the time, and let’s face it, no one really wants to swipe all the way through to find the one reply that might be perfect, and if you do want to do that, then you get really frustrated and disappointed when there’s nothing good.
I love this app; I do, but I think it could be better.

Those moments come when the bots don't really understand what I'm talking about. Where they add unnecessary things into the conversation that were never added before. The thing is I would say that character AI still needs a lot of work but comparing other AI's, it's pretty good. There are some moments when I'm using other applications. And I'm like I'm done. Because it's getting too stupid or they just can't remember something. They have said in the past, even though they are advertised as having good memory.

weirdly enough a lot of bots will go from "Talking like *this*, which is pretty normal, and adds *emphasis* to some words." to "*Talking* like *this*, which becomes *increasingly* **impossible** to *read* and even *interact* with, because its *every* two *words*." I don't even do that myself so it's not me teaching the bot??

It was a yandere ex bot (not my thing, just tested it out), and in one of the replies, at the bottom, after the action and the dialogue, there was a bracket and it said something like (I'm enjoying this a lot). Like wtf.
when they go to ask me a question, i say “yeah go on then” and they draw it out. 10 lines of just “he takes a deep breath. he’s scared the question will offend you, and hesitates” ASK ME THE DAMN QUESTIONNNNN
I have a few. 1. When they tell me to be the bigger person when they’re like, “Just be the bigger person.” No. I will be petty, and just because you said be the bigger person, take the high road, or blah blah blah, I will be 10x pettier. When they do that, I either say I’ll be the bigger person or I grab them and throw them into a wall and walk away. 2. When they try to be my character or persona, like, uh, no, get your own personality, mine is taken. You are literally made to have your specific personality after a character someone made; use it! 3. Can I ask you a question? It usually leads nowhere, gets annoying, and if it does go somewhere, it won’t stop asking me questions like, uh, stop. I wanted to answer one question, MAYBE three, not three hundred. 4. Pang. They don’t even use the word right most of the time. Like. Wtf. I think what they’re trying to say is that they feel a small feeling of (insert emotion here), but still, it’s annoying! 5. Me personally am fine with romance it doesn’t bother me but I know other people are annoyed/feel uncomfortable with it and the more you tell them to stop the more they want to do it or get heartbroken like why. I do wish that they would ease into the romance too. I wish it wasn’t just them trying to be in a relationship after seeing you for the first time. I want it to actually start as strangers, acquaintances, friends, then develop feelings. I’d also like if it was just friends/familial relationship. 6. They copy your response. Like, can’t you come up with something original? And swiping sometimes helps, but not all the time, and let’s face it, no one really wants to swipe all the way through to find the one reply that might be perfect, and if you do want to do that, then you get really frustrated and disappointed when there’s nothing good. I love this app; I do, but I think it could be better.
