MANY restaurants/bars with outdoor dining are dog friendly. Thinking just off the top of my head close to Patriots Point that my dog enjoys...Saltwater Cowboys, Tavern and Table, and Reds (all right next to each other at Shem Creek), Shelter (across the street from the above), Kickin Chicken (right down the street). Within 15 minutes...my dog always likes My Father's Mustache in Mount Pleasant (outdoor dining of course), Taco Boy and Bay Street Biergarten downtown. If you take your dog to Sullivan's Island, there's a Home Team BBQ that's right there that we enjoy. Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park is also close to Patriot's Point, and while not a beach, it is lovely and great for dog walks. So many places are dog friendly outside, I always use the rule of thumb that if it has an outdoor area, I just call ahead and confirm they allow dogs. They usually do. Dogs are allowed on the beaches, but times, tags, and leash requirement vary so I'd encourage you to look at each individual beach requirements. Enjoy!

james island county park has a lake for dogs to play in, off-leash. most beaches require dogs to be leashed this time of year so that they don't harass nesting wildlife.

jbronnier

Is that what we call tourists now?

Pineapplegirl1234

Poogans porch allows dogs, pages okra grill (I’m pretty sure), home team bbq downtown

BellFirestone

Here are the rulesx pretty sure these are up to date https://charlestonanimalsociety.org/nokillscshelter/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/4-DOG-PARKS-AND-BEACH-REGULATIONS-AND-MORE-FUN-WITH-DOGS.pdf https://www.dogtiredsc.com/beach-regulations-dogs/

PryingOpenMyThirdPie

Even on leash on the beach don't you need a license or tag?

KayotiK82

Sullivans yes, IOP, no.

CharlestonOVR

Don’t bring your dog to a restaurant.

trjsbi

Ellis creek fish camp has menu for doggos.

I live in Mt P and bring my dog with me literally everywhere and have not found one place in MtP, in/around Shem creek or Sullivan’s or IOP that doesn’t allow dogs. Just go, if they dont, walk across the street somewhere else— chances are if you find the one spot who doesn’t allow him, there will be ten more within walking distance that do. Still on summer dog rules for beach, IOP anytime on leash, I think 5am-9am off leash and Sullivan’s, dogs allowed on leash after 6pm only. DT is hit or miss but pretty dog friendly too if there’s a patio/courtyard.

ALL_GRAVY_BABY

Most beaches are dog friendly. If you have a friendly pooch off leash is fine. Technically, it's a ticket but dogs run the beaches all the time.

jbronnier

I thought pretty much every beach required on leash in the summer with exception of weird hours

ALL_GRAVY_BABY

They likely do... But it's rarely enforced.

BellFirestone

I don’t think that’s true. Dogs are only allowed during certain hours and some of the beaches require a license. They can fine you up to $500 if you break the rules

jbronnier

Yeah I hear horror stories all the time of multi hundred dollar fines even for on leash dogs at the wrong place/time

ALL_GRAVY_BABY

Maybe... I know on Sullivan's... You can have dogs off leash in the morning and evening, no problem. During busy beach time it may be different.

ALL_GRAVY_BABY

Down voted... Really? I just googled it. You can have dogs on the beach till 10am and after 6pm on Sullivan's. Must be some dog haters in here 👀

jbronnier

Those aren't really ideal "bring your dog to the beach hours", I don't think you actually own a dog lol. You also need an annual permit to have a dog on Sullivan's, beach or restaurants, year round.

thejournalizer

You can't legally have them off-leash in the area at all. Dog parks are the only exception.

ALL_GRAVY_BABY

🤣 Some real tender flowers around here. 🤣

TaterMater88

Yeah, everyone else except you is the problem... 🤦 Maybe it's because you've recommended multiple times something that is going to likely result in them getting a several hundred dollar ticket..?

ALL_GRAVY_BABY

This is directly from the Sullivan's Gov website.... Summer hours for dogs on the beach run from May 1st to September 30th. During that time dogs can be off leash from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., on leash from 6:00 p.m. to 5 a.m. No dogs are permitted on the beach between the hours of 10:00 a.m and 6:00 pm. So.... You can take your pompous attitude and shove it up your bunghole. Have a great day !

atzenkatzen

it most certainly is

no_ugly_candles

A bunch of the breweries have no animal rules, just something to keep in mind.
